How big is Munch?

In the pictures first posted by OWI, munch looks to be like 1/3 the size of Abe. But now, munch looks to be the size of abe in the new pictures posted by ZDTV.com/ExtendedPlay.

Take a look.....

freakyLA 04-30-2001 01:19 PM

Well am always wondering about the size of the other creatures, too. But at most of the picts munch is just a bit smaller than abe.
Am I right that molluck Is about 2,5 metres tall?

Oddipus 04-30-2001 02:46 PM

I think they made him (Munch) a little bigger because you can see more details on a big creature. First he was a bit to little vs Abe. It just looks and plays (?) better.

I'm not sure exactly what picture you're refering to, but I'm presuming it's the one where Abe is holding Munch up.

From there you can work it out...

And if it's not, has Munch got his leg fully extended, or is he in his usual relaxed pose?

munch looked better smaller. he looks silly big. his head is waayy too big now, it's about twice the size of abe's.

Banjo X 04-30-2001 09:10 PM

It does look a little weird that way. I was thinking maybe its just munch getting bigger, like hes growing kinda. I dunno. The pic can also be found on gamespot. ;)

If I;m not mistaken, Mudokons are about the height of shortish humans (~1.7m) while Glukkons are around 2-2.5m. Munch seems about 1-1.2m to me, but it varies depending on the picture.

Osiris The Fleech 05-02-2001 02:06 AM

Here's how I see it:

Mudokons= 2 metres

Glukkons= 2.5 metres

Sligs= 1.5 metres

Gabbits= 1.2 metres

Dakkan Blackblade 05-02-2001 02:34 AM

Can we use the american way, feet and inches... all this meters are making me remember math! =P

Sydney 05-02-2001 03:24 AM

Get with the times Dakkan Blackblade! The metric system is taking over, quit keeping it down!

I think Munch looked better when he was smaller, he looks far too big and clumsy now. With such a big head, it must encase a large brain. I wonder if Gabbits are more intelligent than Mudokons? It wouldn't seem like it, especially considering that Gabbits don't build any underwater cities, as Alf answered in Dear Alf this month.

iliodd 05-02-2001 09:09 PM

Metric is king! Surrender, all ye Imperial infidels! :mad:

Anyway, whales have bigger brains than us but they're not as intelligent (we think ;) ). Since when does Munch have to be smarter than Abe?

Sydney 05-03-2001 06:03 AM

Considering the size of a whale's body in relation to its brain compared to the size of a human's brain in relation to a human body, it makes sense that a human would be smarter.

Look at Munch though, his brain looks like it would be larger than his body!

Oddipus 05-03-2001 09:33 AM

Munch's intelligence:

He's only as smart as the person controlling him: and that's alloya!!

freakyLA 05-05-2001 12:38 PM

are you sur with these size of the creatures?
feet and suff is shit!!! Burn it down!!! I hate it! :mad: :mad: :mad:
ok Munch is very young as we know perhaps he has growen during the game?

iliodd 05-05-2001 01:19 PM

I like your idea, that Munch grows during the game, because when the game begins he's only about 6 years old (in human years). Given the timespan of the game - entire seasons - he probably has time to grow and mature a little.

6 years old? Where did you hear that? On the official Oddworld site it says he's 9 months and the average Gabbit Lifespan is 18 years.

iliodd 05-06-2001 12:48 PM

Right... so that makes him about 6 in human years, given a maximum human life expectancy of 100 or so with modern medicine.

freakyLA 05-06-2001 01:01 PM

A human live isn´t 100 years long. It´s really unusual that humans get that old. You should count 80 years.
i was thinking about the idea that time wents by during the game. that would be real cool! just imagine! we could follow the oddworldian live for years!

iliodd 05-06-2001 01:04 PM

Well, I meant the maximum length one could really expect someone to live. Using 80 years for human life expectancy, you get...

(ho hum, I hate math...)

...about 3 1/2 years. Wow! He's just a toddler.
