Bots searching the forum
If I look at the who's online list I find most of the times that there's a msn or yahoo or any kind of bot searching trhough thesse forums....
Most of the times they're watching user profiles, but not all the time... I made a hotmail account for times when I have to enter my email anywhere and that's the addres I've filled in on this my account. It 's not that I don't thrust the users of the forums, but I don't really thrust these bots. It seems kinda normal that these bots are searching through our profile's cuz you can sort the online list on 'em! I'd like to know what exactly they are doing, are they searching for email addresses? |
probably. to sell stuff to people.
|
Yea... instead writing your own e-mail, try replacing the "@" with "(at)", people will most likely figure it out. I haven't written my e-mail down... or atleast i don't think so *checks*
|
tnx t-nex ill try
there'll be another problem if I'll do it you way. google *plays scary music* People can still see my email. luckily I have an account wich will be forwarded but deleted in a year so it doesn't matter where I'll be registered:D |
It's weird because everyone always says about these bots but I never see any.
|
They just seem welcome here on these forums because they're on the list and you can sort the list on them :O
Hmm *frowns* is there anyone up there getting payd by yahoo and microsoft? *edit* BtW godlesswanderer, there's a yahoo slurpspider! online right now!! go check, hmm youre probably to late anyway! :

yea... they are responsible for having my member-profile ont he first page on google, when searching for "t-nex"... I don't know if it's still that way now...
|

This should answer all your questions. Ever thought of searching ''Spider'' into search? |
MSNBot Spider Viewing Attachment Some new comics 09:16 PM
Found an MSN Spiderbot. Yay! I found one! |
We do not need to know what spiders you have found. If you see a Spider on the Who's Online list, then we already know about it. Chances are, half of the actual "guests" not including the identified Spiders, are actually other spiders which are just so uncommmon we don't know about them.
Also, do not change your email address to include "(at)" instead of "@". It will stuff up any mail, subscriptions, or reminders that are sent to you. If you would rather not have your email address shown to the public, there is an option in the User CP just for that. Alcar... |
Soww.... They bots are completly harmless?
Alright then I'll put my email back on. |

Yep the spiders are harmless. They add pages to search engines. If you search for 'duveaux' on google you may finf your user profile. Mine has been spidered.

*edit* and you're right. After a whole list of michel duveaux's I've found my profile on google http://www.google.com/search?as_q=du...h=&safe=images http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...uveaux+-michel |
Google does things in 'waves'. I think it does a massive reindex every two months, and small updates every day or so. You might just not be online when they visit.
