Oddworld Derivatives

A thread of this caliber may have popped up in the past, I'm not 100% sure, but I scowered the first few pages and didn't find one, so here goes...

Names, namely, is what I'd like to see if we can't shed some light on. Oddworld has not only some of the strangest, most original character designs but they've got some very catchy names to go along with 'em. Mudokens, Glukkons, Sligs, Elums. They've all got a very other worldly feel to them, and rightly so. But they're still our own words, and I'd have to figure that they were inspired by our own world. I've only managed recently to crack one myself, and I'll list it here in a sec. But I'm wondering if anyone else has looked at some abstract word like Glukkon and said and managed to pull some meaning out of it?

The only one I got is also probably the easiest, but it's a good start.

Elum = Mule backwards. And a Mule of coarse is an Earthly equivilent of Oddworld's Elum. They're both even most commonly personified a desert trodding beasts used for transportation.

Fun? I thought so... I'll bring more if I find 'em, and I'd love to see what others got.

Glukkon is one of the Family - Gloctigi (right?). So, Octigi = Octopus

Glukkon from 'glutton', as Max often points out :p

Mudokon from ‘mod con’ as I like more to point out. ;)
