The Brutal Ballad Of Fangus Klot

Full credit goes to Oddworld Universe.

Oddworld Universe has learned from an official source, that the next Oddworld Inhabitants game will be titled: The Brutal Ballad Of Fangus Klot. It is best to remember that this is the title as of now, and that in the future it could be changed. This information somewhat confirms the Game Informer article, along with its contents.

Alcar...

great find alcar!
according to my dictionary, ballad is some kind of song/folktale.
mabye it is a legend, told by the present oddworldians. so it could be a sort of flash back. he looks a bit like a gladiator/herculies character. this name conforms action, violence and probibly darkness.
the name could always change though, we can only wait. what was this official sorce anyway?
happy easter for those still having it!

_GrubHunter_ 03-28-2005 01:27 AM

So Alacar, you have the game informer aprill issue right?

Alcar 03-28-2005 01:29 AM

No, I do not. While I realise the game's title is similar to the Game Informer article's title, this new information is the full title, and from an official source. Not to mention we get his last name ;)

So, Fangus Game isn't joke? (I think it isn't of course).

Xavier 03-28-2005 02:34 AM

well found Alcar... even if I still wonder where you get that from

Kimon 03-28-2005 06:51 AM

Alright, nice find. :) I'll be looking forward to Fangus.

Hunk of Steef 03-28-2005 07:05 AM

What is your source? Well, mine as well go check every oddworld news site that I know of. I'm outta here.

Fuzzle Guy 03-28-2005 07:34 AM

Damn, that's a crap title, lets do a protest like we did with the Strangers Wrath title and hope that an Inhabitant comes along.

Xavier 03-28-2005 07:46 AM

I quite like it...
but I wouldn't like to be named Klot :p

Oddish 03-28-2005 08:12 AM

Great find Alcar!

Oddworld: The Brutal Ballad Of Fangus Klot seems a very long title, but hey it's better than Stranger's Wrath title I suppose. It could be one of those Fairytales we've been hearing about, ya know. Oddworld: Fairytales: The Brutal Ballad Of Fangus Klot , now that would be a longer title :p. But it's just a working title for now, it could change.

Dualist 03-28-2005 08:29 AM

I just can't help but be dissapointed that it is not "Citizen Siege".

I think Citizen Siege was suppose to be made for the next-gen consoles, and it's a different game than this, it set on earth.

And thats why I want it. Its a depature from their unique character designs and worlds, plus I'm hoping it will be a sci-fi shooter.

actually I know someone who tought it could be the first game of the Fearitales...

whith the name change I might begin to think he wasn't wrong on that

SeaRex 03-28-2005 08:48 AM

I know people have already harped on this, but I really think the working title is too long. I hope they change it for the game's final release.

At least put "Oddworld" before it. They have to do that.

I don't know. It could be "Oddworld: Fangus' Revenge" or "Oddworld: Fangus' Rage" or something. You know, to make it go along with the whole "Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath" title.

Regardless, I'm going to be following this game a lot more closely than I did with SW. After MO, I was really disheartened with OWI's 3D performance (I still think they should make another 2D game), but SW more or less showed that OWI can indeed make a decent 3D game, so I will certainly pay more attention to this title.

Hmmm.

Well saving the all the nations in oddworld dose sound like a fairytale, becuase it's something that will be unlikey to be true.

Dipstikk 03-28-2005 08:58 AM

I love the title. Don't get me wrong, I think the game could work. He's big, he's bad, and he's got guns! That appeals to the gamer in me.

But...I have to stick to my guns. I would like them to make him less cougary. Because it just doesn't seem like Oddworld if you have a familiar face from Earth running around.
*runs to dodge the oncoming tomatoes*

Esus 03-28-2005 10:44 AM

I like the title.

WineDarkSea 03-28-2005 10:44 AM

I agree with SeaRex. The working title is way too long. Plus, it really varies from the Odyssey/Oddysee puns they have going on. And what was wrong with Stranger's Wrath. It works; Stranger's Wrath, Achilles Wrath, it goes with the theme. I definatly thing the title needs to be more Homeric.

odd chick 03-28-2005 12:22 PM

Well, I think that title is a bit better than Stranger's Wrath. I'm still wondering where you found this info, though. ;)

MojoMan220 03-28-2005 12:55 PM

I must say that is probably the most creative name for a game that I've ever heard. I am very excited now! I don't think it's too long, but they could always take off the last name, if they wanted to shorten it.

Esus 03-28-2005 12:57 PM

I think it works fine with the surname. Better than it would be without it. :)

Billy Cripner 03-28-2005 01:03 PM

where is a website for Fangus?

TheRaisin 03-28-2005 01:11 PM

I'm sorry to say this, but it is my opinion that that is the fruitiest game title I've ever heard. I pray they change it.

ConkerTribe 03-28-2005 01:42 PM

Did anyone analyze the title yet? I believe I might be the first to point this out:

-Brutal Balad. That's like an oxymoron, in a sense. It's like Brutal is a tough, strong word, while Balad is gentle and soft. Putting them together seems so wrong, yet could make a culminating point in the game's plot.

-Fangus Klot. Sounds like Genghis Kahn (sorry for spelling) doesn't it? Perhaps they're comparing Fangus to Genghis. Actually, I originally thought that upon hearing the first news of Fangus, that it did indeed remind me of Genghis, though I said nothing. Now it becomes apparant, though.

Any thoughts on what this might mean to the actual plight or plot of the game?

OANST 03-28-2005 02:32 PM

Have you ever heard a power ballad? Most of those are pretty brutal on the ears.

ConkerTribe 03-28-2005 02:35 PM

No, I don't believe I have, but I was just deriving that from the word "Balet" though I guess I'm wrong on the subject.

Also, did anyone analyze the strange name he has? Fangus Klot. I mean, Klot is not a common name, though, his character isn't supposed to be. I just wonder how they got that name. Does it pertain to some secret we don't know about him? or perhaps his origin? Just curious is all...

buckminster 03-28-2005 03:37 PM

Ballad: A narrative poem, often of folk origin and intended to be sung, consisting of simple stanzas and usually having a refrain

Yes, it can also be a sentimental song, but it is more likely to follow the definition above.

Kimon 03-28-2005 05:11 PM

Yeah, ConkerTribe, your probably thinking of a ballad in modern-day standards, which is basically a love song. Ballads of the old times (take Beowulf as an example) were much more exciting and were often about war, plundering and rape.

As for the title, I really like it. It's funny, weird and very Oddworld. It might be too much for the working title though. Shame. :(

Winedark Sea, why the Homeric approach? Is it just for aesthetics, or is there some relation to Greek mythology and SW that I'm unaware of?
