Gas is killing me!

Jesus God, 56 dollars a barrel? You're joking, right? No, that is the ACTUAL BLOODY PRICE OF CRUDE! And after all of this I feel a little vindicated. Everyone called me a leftist loon for saying that this was all about no-bid contracts, crude oil and gas prices and oil rights. People laughed in my face! Now gas is aproaching all-time highs(2.19 a gallon in my area) while Bechtel, Halliburton etc. all just about double in price in the last 2 years.
The worst thing about it all? People are so busy yammering over that handjob called ANWR that they don't realize is that all it would take is an extra 8 miles to the gallon to be free from Middle Eastern oil. Take away the need for oil and the sheiks are our bitches.

I honestly wish that America were not so dependent on Oil. But we loves our cars! Ahyuck!

I love it when people complain about gas going up a tenth of a cent (not saying you Statikk, I mean in general) while in England, it's always been much more expensive. Or it least it was. Pretty sure it is now. Anyway, my point is that you'll seldom hear an English guy complain about the prices, while in America you're almost expected to.

Then again, they aren't as dependent on cars as status symbols. Stupid America.

Yup it's insane...our gas here is about 90 cents a litre (Canadian) which works out to about 3.01 US per Gallon. MAD gas prices...and they've been like this for SO long...

I know its more expensive where you guys are from, but lets take this one step futher. Gas went up over 50 cents in the past year or so where I live. Imagine if gas went up a 1.10 U.S. where you live. Your wallet would be freaking savaged at the pump.

Well, In England, a litre will cost you 81p, thats $1.55!

Stop complaining, it's super expensive here in the UK and we never complain.

Statikk HDM 03-17-2005 08:24 AM

I don't see why I should. Gas was recently at 2.05 a gallon average, almost breaking the 2.06 last year, and gas looks like it will be getting more expensive. Gasoline and natural gas are so expensive now that sometimes poorer families have to choose between eating or heating their houses. Its gotten completely out of control.

I hope America runs out of oil soon and falls flatt on its butt :D

I don't really care enough to argue with you, it's just my opinion that you should quit overexaggerating/overreacting.

I heard the only reason petrol has been so expensive lately is that the US government has been stockpiling mega-litres of it and pumping it into depleted wells for the time when all the rest of the world runs out (~20 years). More demand=higher cost.

It may be a myth, but it's a good one.
