Languages.

Hi guys, just wanted to know if any of you speak languages other than English.

Currently I am learning French and German (My school is a language college, they love MFL.) I want to learn Japanese too, my cousin lives there (JTL Temp) and she offered to let me stay with her next year but I'm not sure. I'd like too, but the flights are really expensive and I don't want my parents to pay because they'd be like 'sure' and I'd feel bad. I know I've strayed from the topic a bit, but who doesn't?

Cyber-Slig 03-16-2005 09:52 AM

Well, being from Scotland I can speak Scots, Enlgish, and some French too. Though I hate French.

Oddish 03-16-2005 10:44 AM

I can speak in Burlagrian.

Five 03-16-2005 11:40 AM

well, I'm from Poland so I speak Polish most of the time :D...right now I have my first year of learning French, but I don't like it. Not the language itself, but studying it is very hard.

Silversnow 03-16-2005 11:55 AM

I speak swedish. I'm too very nice by english. I used to study french, but I gave that up when I felt an overwhelming urge to throw my books away and scream. Now I hate the french language.

Xavier 03-16-2005 12:14 PM

French is my mothertongue
I can speak Dutch very well (I used to go to a dutch school)

and I learned english mostly by myself, yay go me!

Abe16 03-16-2005 03:03 PM

I can speak spanish and france.

sligster 03-16-2005 03:44 PM

English... and that's it. I feel bad, because I'm Mexican, and feel as if I should know Spanish. I'll be taking Spanish in the near future, though.

Fuzzles! 03-16-2005 03:47 PM

French and English, both fluently. I don't have much of a talent for other languages (I wish I did though because there are so many I'd like to learn).

Joe the Glukkon 03-16-2005 04:16 PM

I know a little bit of German that I learned from my favorite band, Rammstein.

If by 'very nice by english' you mean you like it, then good for you. :) But if you mean you're good at it, you might want to reconsider. ;)

I only speak english, but I wanna learn German.

Majic 03-16-2005 07:17 PM

I speak English, and am currently enrolled in French at school. Additionally, I've picked up a bit of jive in my day, and can usually figure out the horrific breed of English and random nonsense developed by the more athletically oriented grouping of classmates I'm friends with.

TheRaisin 03-16-2005 08:22 PM

Kimon, I think she means she sounds too nice when speaking English.

I took one year of Spanish and I'm now taking French. That's about it. I know a smattering (eeeww I don't like that word) of things in other languages. Like, I know a bunch of those highly cliched Latin sayings that people say to sound pretentious. Whee. And like. Yeah. Oh, and I know a verse of song lyrics in German from 99 Red Balloons by Goldfinger. It kicks ass.

WineDarkSea 03-16-2005 08:25 PM

Besides English, I can speak Spanish and Japanese. I also took Latin back in high school, but that was back in the day and we didn't really "speak" it per se.

I'm a fan of the song. The original is damn catchy, and the cover isn't half assed.

Alcar 03-17-2005 04:08 AM

I can only speak English, and very little Indonesian (kept over from my Lower High Schooling time).

Though I am very interested in German, Russian, and French. If I were to learn any language, I'll go for German. It may be a very 'rough' language, but it appeals none-the-less.

Statikk HDM 03-17-2005 07:51 AM

I speak English fluently and a bit of beginner Spanish and ridiculously bad German. German 1 is handing me my balls right now.

German sounds really cool and technological. I think it sounds more modern than English. I really like learning it.

Ich spreche Deutsch und Englisch. I tried French but I didn't like it.

It's cool. It's even better when you slip German words into sentences. Like Soulstice says, it's fun and sounds modern.

:

but I wanna learn German
Go for it, I found it way easier than French.

TheRaisin 03-18-2005 03:14 PM

German is very regular, whereas French has tons of exceptions to every rule, and all sorts of little things you have to memorize. But that's what makes it interesting. Spanish bored the hell out of me.

Biggy Bro Slig 03-18-2005 11:54 PM

French (Salut!)
Manx/celtic laungage (Fastimie!)
My secret laungage (P*ss off!)

Kimon, I think she means she sounds too nice when speaking English.

Actually, that bad english was a joke. :D

The Red Muse 03-20-2005 11:35 AM

Haha, German -the language of love :D *ahem* Pardon my horrible humour...

Pääosin meikäläinen puhuu suomee. Sitäkin aika huonosti :D lol

Finnish.
English too.
I used to know a wee bit of swedish too, but I've already forgotten everything I've learned. So that's that.

Ariona 06-18-2005 06:49 PM

Da ich Deutsche bin, spreche ich natürlich perfekt Deutsch...meine Muttersprache :D

uups, I've wrote in German. :stare:
My native language is German. So I can perfect write and speak it. I learn English and French (my favourite language)
I can speak English, but my English isn't the best
I want to learn French, too. But it's difficult...

Godlesswanderer 06-19-2005 07:06 AM

I speak English and a tiny bit of French. I know surprisingly little for someone that learnt it for 5 years.

Rex Tirano 06-19-2005 07:19 AM

I can speak quite a few languages.

I can speak French and English the best, but I also know Spanish and Japanese to a decent level. Oh, and a tiny bit of Chinese, I can say: Hello, My name is Olly. How are you?

But I too want to learn German, it seems different to English and I want to learn Dutch. Rubber Scheet. :p

dripik 06-19-2005 08:48 AM

Hungarian is the mother language here. I speak English (I suppose everybody can here :D ), German and a little Latin.

I'm planning to learn a North-European language for my translating career, too.

Dipstikk 06-19-2005 11:09 AM

I speak a barberic form of English known as American as my mother language, and I'm also fluent in Mock-Huttese and Old-World Dipstikkian.

big bro boogie 06-19-2005 03:36 PM

Dutch: mother's language: Yo hoe gaat ie.
English: school: Hello, how are you?
Barbaric American :): T.V.: Yo, wuzaaaap!
French: school: Ca va?
Spanish: somewhere: ¿Que pasa?
