A Stranger 2?
I, for one, would totally love a sequel to Stranger as the next Oddworld game. This might seem like a topic for General Discussion, but I figured Stranger's 'Steefness' might come into play in this thread. So what would you like to see for SW2? New Ammo? Locations? Races?
I for one would like to see all the old ruined Grubb stuff revived, such as the Temple with the Steef statue and Last Legs. That for me would be really cool. |
I'd like to see Stranger backtrack to his cowboy persona. As in taking off his Steef Viking armor and wearing his poncho and hat, while still remaining an obvious quadroped. The armor's design was great, and tied in perfectly to the story, but I really liked his bounty hunting outfit.
I'd also like to see some new creatures obviously, and maybe Stranger could cross paths with a few of the familiar beasts (get caught in an Elum stampede or something). Also, this could again be a chance for Oddworld to resurrect some of the beasts that were cut from Munch's Oddysee, like they did with the Octigi and Gloktigi. Stranger bountying Luskan raiders, perhaps? |
Seeing the LUsks in there might be cool, but I'm against the 'old outfit' idea. He'd have no reason to put it on. It would only be for aesthetics, and it wouldn't make sense. I'd like to see him keep the last armor he got and start to grow some horns of his own. That'd be real cool.
|
hmmm I'd love to see the old outfit back... I realy loved it
perhaps at some point he will have to go to a Clakkerz town or something like that and have to disguise again, so he will have to get back to the old outfit again. Cause nobody realy knew that cowboy stranger is actually a Steef. like sneak into the industrial world with his cowboy outfit |
I love the new look he's got. But i think Xavier's idea is great. Having to disguise is a hgood idea.
I personally like the new look better, cuz with that, he's able to ram into stuff. You know when you pull the right trigger? Then you suddenly get a boost of speed. Well, apparently we'll see more to Sekto in the future i think. Maybe he'll get another body, a stringer one, and they'll get into a hand-to-hand combat. Would be awesome. |
I agree, the old suit is cool, but it would be sort of a revertion to his old ways, symbolically at least. I think he should keep his steef thing going and should continue to protect the Grubbs/Kill Secto.
|
I'd love to see sekto on a grubb or even a mudokon body :p
Sekto has to come back, I want to see his Wrath :) |
lol... Then i think the Mudokon or grubb would have a pretty big head :p
|
I would also love to see a Stranger 2.
I think it will further explore the tension between Stranger wanting to be "normal" and his steef-ness. I say this because Stranger obviously hasn't made his final choice yet. So far he's been helping the Grubs because it suited his purposes and because other options were closed to him due to circumstances beyond his control. |
I'd love if you had to help or find other steefs cause I think he knows were some are and I like bounty hunting n all but being a steef is cooler it would also be cool if Sekto came back and did something.
|
I want Stranger to look for the rest of his race. The big story could be him trying to discover his true self and his native species, from whom he's been removed for so long.
But that's when disaster strikes. A mysterious group of individuals capture Stranger and subject him to an inquisition of sorts, and then leave him in this abysmal prision/fortess. The first, "level," would be him escaping the prision. During the rest of the game, he's a wanted steef by the organization, who does everything in it's power to kill him. Why? You'll have to play the game. Maybe before he leaves the prision, he assassinates the head honchos, and now all the minion want revenge. I don't know. Visit grudgy cites, vast plains platues, graveyards and lost cities. The final level could be a giant clash between the Steef herds and the villianous legions on a giant war plain. The game would end with stranger becoming accepted back into the tribe, and, "earning," his horns. Sekto could play a small part, but I think, like Mullock in Abe's Exoddus, he shouldn't be too big of a player. Maybe he was, in reality, a pawn of something bigger. Whatever. As you can tell, I've had awhile to think this through. :P |
i f there was a seque i think it would still envolve showing more of his true self and more about his past. i would realy like ratz as live ammo as they can call others with their powers (rasin) and also those birds modokuns have powers over and gabiwogs and fish. and what about more terrian? i would be great roaming around a volcanoe or exploring the sea ( under it or in a boat). and maybe the grubbs and modokuns and grubbs will meet up to have a war or help each other. i think he could come across ma spa for a reason aswell. and maybe a truce with the wolvarks.
ok, maybe none of this is true but they are just thoughts. |
why not a stranger prequel???
where you have to begin as a steef and end in a cowboy form... would be awesome :D |

I'd love to hear Stranger talking in the background talking about what happend in his life in SW2, beginningmovie.

Oddworld: Stranger's Fury
In this sequel to Stranger's Wrath, Stranger finds himself against a greater force this time around than Sekto ever was. The Grubbs have accepted Stranger into their tribe and now they've been living in peace with Stranger protecting them.
One day, the Stranger starts getting serious aches and pains. The queen explains to him that he is still growing and he's now maturing into an adult. She sends him on a journey to find the master of the steefs, in which he can learn all there is to being an adult steef. The master is at the top of a large mountain, however, and so you must trek all the way up there to see him. This is where you learn some of your basic moves again if you've forgotten since the last game. Once you get up there, the master will teach you that you have a lot of potential for a steef your age and he teaches you three of the most helpful moves: the Rammer, the Glider, and he gives you a new live ammo type, the scorpian, which paralyzes your foes while you suck them up for a bounty (why you will need bounties becomes clear later). He tells you that you need to get to his brother to obtain a device that was used long ago by past steefs. You must go to town to cross the river, but you need money to do that. You must assume your prior bounty hunting role. As you're exiting, the entire structure starts crumbling as a few outlaws completely obliterate the master's home for some extra cash. Hide behind fallen debri to take them down. Bounty them all up, and watch a cutscene of Stranger sucking up the last outlaw as the outlaw sees him and says "Steef!." After you go to town, you go to the Jail to turn these bounties in for moolah at the bounty store. As the jailer is escorting the downed foes to jail, one of them wakes up and recognizes Stranger from before and says "He's a steef! Jailer, quick, get him!." To be continued... |
that sounds an awful lot like a blockbuster disc box...
|
Uh... Thanks? You're too kind... Really.
|
I like your idea ConkerTribe
but I realy think it's pointless to make up some stories now |
Having a scorpion would be redundant. Bolamites and Stunks already incapacitate the enemy, why another one?
Oh, and I don't like the story much. It seems a little out of place for Oddworld. No offence, I just think Stranger should learn on his own and stick to the Grubbs. Maybe he could grow horns during progression into the game. |

I'm not too keen on it. Where's the cracked mirror reflection of our world? What new issues does it bring up, aside from prejudice against the steef? Why would the Steef get bounties and turn them in at the Bounty Store? Would he be disguised? The Clakkers wouldnt let him do so if he wasn't disguised, and disguising him again will seem like the game is going backwards rather than progressing, as his character inverts once again.

Stranger 2: Prequel to Stranger??
I really like the prequel idea from Xavier, as that way he can start of in his steef form and we see how/ more on why he progress into his bounty hunter outfit and we could learn where his crossbow came from, his skills etc. to what made the Stranger we know today.
Or the section could be in flashback (Nepharski idea) back for the start of the game with the end of the flash back we see Steef telling some of his past to the Grubbs. Then the rest of the game would be for the future of Steef life. What I mainly would love for in a Stranger 2 is easter eggs and a bit more connections/refernece to the other Oddworld games. Now that they have made and worked on the Stranger game engine they should now be able have a bit more time to add some of these stuff in. Also subtitles options. Small note: The bounty on Munchs alive must worth alot more then Abes as the Glukkon Queen was on life support from last newspaper article in MO. Maybe Stranger wanted to capture them, but releasied that ever other bounty hunter was already after them, that it would not be long they were captured (explain the lack of rivals Bounty Hunters in the first Stranger game??) |
how about a stranger prequel but you control Olden Steef(so it wouldn't be called stranger 2), we would get to see the fall of the steefs, how Sekto rose to power, and Olden steefs demise as the guardian, well sort of! wow sounds alot like revenge of the sith!!! :)

I would love to see a Stranger sequal. I wonder if he will go back to the Cowboy outfit, perhaps because he needs a break from the Grubbs or maybe something shocked him so badly that he needed to go on hiatus. I WANT THEM TO USE MY RHEAKEETS AS OUTLAWS. I would love it. I'd be the voice and everything. A man can dream. But they need to bring Sekto back because he...was...the...best...villain...yet. Molluck can bite me, he's saved for Munch's Exoddus. SEKTO is the man...oktigi...whatever now. |
:
And continuing... :
"What did he say?" the Clakker says. "He was just asking where the bathroom was..." Stranger says. "Oh. Stupud shit, it's in your cell, you know, the place you'll be spending eternity for? Dumb shit." The Clakker says. Take 2 bounties and bring them in. It's not necessary to name them, but if you want, here's two I'm thinking up off the top of my head: Bullion Buck and Yee Ha Mcgraw, Meagly Mcgraw's younger (and more able) brother. Turn them in for some moolah. So, Stranger gets his moolah and accepts the next bounty. He must rid the town of Strangle A. Clakker, a lily-livered chicken-looking guy, who kinda looks like a clakker on steroids. Don't be fooled, though, you won't be able to knock him down so easily. After bringing in Strangle, a cutscene comes up that shows an octopus (sekto) swimming up stream (very near the port town where Stranger is in). He stops at a steef (an actual steef!) and quickly latches himself to the steef's head. A scene later, you see the steef put on a suit, from jacket to the pants and shoes. Sekto... IS BACK. After that cutscene, you must take the moolah to the port clakker to be able to cross the bridge. Once you get across, you must find your way through some outlaws and go across a jungle of a path to get to the Master's brother. Once you get there, you see a large temple. There are outlaws everywhere inside! Go stealthily through the temple, knocking out outlaws with your scorpians, which you can use through sniping (now you know their use). Once you rid the temple of outlaws, the Master's brother will come out from hiding and will put you under a strange trance. He does this by doing the "spooce" dance from Munch's Oddysee. All of a sudden, you realize that he's doing some evil incantation and he turns you into a fully grown steef with massive horns and large strong legs and furocious fangs! Wander around a bit and then in about 5 seconds, you'll transform back. He teaches you that you can call out the "steef" at any time when you've built up either enough 1) speed, 2) hit combos, or 3) bounty chains (Just off the top of my head so gimme a break :P). As you are going out of the temple, you get jumped by a group of wolvarks and they put a large net over you. The next thing you know, you're in a wolvark security prison. More if I feel like it... PS: Just for the record, I'm doing this because I love Stranger, not because I'm trying to be accurate to Oddworld or whatever. |
I don't like the idea of going back to the cowboy garb. Stranger is a recognized Steef, and putting him back in the suit would be like a step backwards in evolution. As I said before, I'd really like him to fulfill his 'spiritual journey' and then start growing horns of his own, and maybe even his legs will get bigger.
As for a prequel, I don't think it's a good idea for the reasons I previously stated, and another huge factor. A big motivation behind Stranger is that you don't know much about him. Doing a prequel would not the have the surprise that made the plot of the first game so interesting, and it wouldn't progress the story any more. I say he just goes on with his life as a protector. Plus, I like the idea of Grubbs being his pals. :p |
:
Also, that's your opinion on what the game should be like, but this is mine and I like it just fine. |
How about more usable plantlife?
So far, all of the ammo are animals- Maybe there could be some sort of plant ammo?
After seeing those semi sentient plants in Minority Report- The thought occured to me of the Steef using a pod that rapidly grows a vine to make a bridge or something. Maybe even use it to reinforce an unstable platform... Another sort could be used to climb up or swing from. |
:
Actually I just read it, and it talks about an evil incarnation and a spooce dance, not a spiritual journey. And although he does grow horns and fangs, it only happens for 5 seconds and it's about calling out the 'Steef spirit'. That's very different from what I said. I want a gradual progression of maturity throughout his time in the game. So you actually exhibited what you were just complaining about. All you saw was strong legs and horns, and you think it's the same. Not true. Oh, and I was never dissing your opinion, and I never claimed my opinions as fact, so I don't what you're on about there. |
