Stranger's Wrath Information
Well, needless to say, I haven't posted much in the last year or so, but for those of you who remember me, let's catch up. Stranger came out. I bought it up immediately. Me and the old Joe the Intern played it for a day and a half... beat it. Awesome game. It really brings Oddworld back to where it should be. I still play back through it, often just to **** with stuff that I didn't really mess with before.
But back on topic. Does anyone have any sort of listing for all of the characters and locals in the game. I'm having a bit of trouble distinguishing between what the wolvarks are, as it's obvious there are two main enemy species (asside from the 2 new octigi featured... not to spoil it for anyone). One of the species is smaller and more runt-like with the oversized jaws and absurd top hats. The others are much taller, fatter in the stomach, human-like, and more dangerous, often comprising the boss-class. If anyone could help me or redirect me, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. |
The lizardy guys are outlaws, and the wolvarks are the only enemies you see in the second half of the game. I think they're totally distinguishable, but whatever. They wear blue suits.

Those are Outlaws.
And there is Grubbs and Clakkerzs. |
all the outlaws are... well outlaws, it's weird, I know
|
Well to be more specific on this the bosses you have to collect for bounties like Looten Duke or Filthy Hands Floyd are known as Outlaws. The Outlaw's henchmen which look like Outlaws but smaller are called Minions. Third enamy you encounter are the Wolvarks and forth enamy are the Glocktigi and then finally Mr. Sekto who is an octigi. Sub creatures are the Slegs.

The Outlaw Boss characters comprise of both Wolvarks and the actual Outlaw species, which appears to involve various variations within it's own. A couple of these Outlaw Bosses also appear to be the same species as some types of their Minions - squat, big jawwed but also the type who are like Jo'Momma with the horns.
Basically, all the species appear to be called Outlaws and there is no different species for Boss or Minion. Some Wolvarks, who appear to primarily work for Sekto and his company, have also taken to the Outlaw life. |

Thanks guys, but you all seem to be saying things a little bit differently.
1. Octigi are a class of creatures, so to say Sekto is octigi shouldn't surprise anyone. The surprise is exactly what KIND of octigi (consult octigi production chart). 2. Am I seriously supposed to believe that Oddworld would steep to calling a race of creatures "Outlaws" and "Minions" as if they were the formal names for species of fauna? 3. It's obvious, like I said, that there are two, if not more, distinct races of creature used as enemies. We can assumed that the hunched ones, horns are not are the same race, but those used at Sekto and predominantly the bounty bosses that stand upright are a completely different form of creature. 4. Did anyone else notice the animal parrallels? Amphibions - Grubbs=Salamanders, Wolvarks=Toads/Frogs (Hence 2 different species), Octigi=Squids, Clakkerz=Birds, Mudokons=Birds/Salamanders, Sligs=Nautilus.... Just rambling, sorry. 5. Last, but not least. What the ****s with the slegs? Sligs, slogs, slegs... their just slogs with horns. Are slogs synthetic versions of slegs? Are they natural cousins of each other's species? SO ****lNG LOST. |
There is only one type of Oktigi.
The chart was showing something called 'Oktigi 0.1' and 'Oktigi 0.2'. They are both the same species, the 0.2 is just the 0.1 having taken control of another's body - as is the Oktigi way. The large creatures are Gloktigi, another species. The others are Glukkons. :

Inspiration for the other outlaws comes mainly from creatures you would expect to find in the American South/West (?), such as boars. This may go some way to explain the various different variations of them. Slegs are apparently another species. They are a different colour, and their design is slightly more different than just 'horns' on the front, though that is the more prominant one. For all we know, though, the slegs would be a variation under the 'slog' family (if such a thing exists), related in the same way Greyhounds are to Dog, or how Dogs are to Wolves. |
Just to reiterate, D. Caste Raider, the Looten Duke and Fatty McBoomBoom are Outlaws by species. I have no idea why.
Outlaws are all encountered up to and including the major plot twice, Wolvarks are all encountered afterwards. The variations in Outlaws are simply variations from character to character, but within the same species. Meagly - a squat of an Outlaw - has a son Tiny, who is the larger variety with horns. Sal's right by saying Slogs and Slegs are cousins; they are separate species, like dogs and coyotes or wolves. And yes, ‘Outlaws’ is the name of the species. I'm no more impressed by the name ‘Interns’, to be honest. Just be thankful they aren't pluralised with a zed. ‘Minion’ is a class of Outlaw, not a separate species. |
actually, there could be a reason for this. the sligs were forced by their queen to work and kill it could be the same for the outlaws. maybe there is an outlaw boss are some mean old mothers( jo mamma) that teach their children to be like them. maybe they have a religon that guides them in life. whatever it is, it is either very odd or very lazy!
