Innocent coincidence...or goverment conspiracy? You decide.
I had a revelation a while ago, and I thought I'd share it with you fine forumers. It's probably just my paranoia over-reacting again, but you never know...
Some people want an Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee movie. I say, "It's already been done!" What's that you say? I do not jest. Simply read as follows. Imagine, if you will, the masterpiece of gaming that is Abe's Oddysee. Now, recollect the plot, if you can. It should flow something like this: Abe the mudokon is enslaved at Rupture Farms, along with a load of other mudokons. It is discovered that the boss of Rupture Farms, Mullock, has decided to toss all his, "employees," into the meat grinder, due to profit lows. Abe braves the evil, dimwitted sligs and their ravenous slogs, saves his friends, and destroys the fowl flesh farm. End of game. Roll credits. Now then, turn your attention to the movie Chicken Run, and it's interesting little plot. Ginger the chicken is enslaved at Tweedy's Farm, along with a load of other chickens. It is discovered that the boss of Tweedy's Farm, Mrs. Tweedy, has decided to toss all his, "employees," into the meat grinder, due to profit lows. Ginger braves the evil, dimwitted Mr. Tweedy and his ravenous dogs, saves her friends, and destroys the fowl flesh farm. End of movie. Roll credits. The plot thickens, I dare say. |
Chicken Run is based on AO and AO is based on yet some other old real happening... whats the point? If your saying Chicken Run is a rip off from AO, Im sure Oddworld games also have more then enough rip offs themselfs... >_>

Abe's Oddysee shouldn't be made into a film anyways. That would defeat the purpose of playing the games. After all's been said in the Quintology, OWI should make a final story for the "Oddworld" film that wraps everything up. End of story. Roll credits.

Before everyone else murders panuru so that they can jump up and down on his grave, all I will say is that the games were originally envisioned as movies. The games came later. No-one need say anything more.
In any case, Chicken Run was based on 'The Great Escape', which was a WWII movie about POWs. |
I've heard that similarity before, a long time ago. But as I have never watched Chicken Run, I really can't comment directly.

Abe Babe... |
:
the tunnels were "tom", "dick", and "harry", right? |
I didn't saw the shrykull in Chicken run :p
anyway both are based on real life frustrations, that's why they have common points |
And leading on from Xav's point; Chicken Run is missing the mystical side of Abe's Oddysee, which is what made the game special.
Also, CR is about teamwork whereas AO is about one character overcoming the Odds and facing brutal challenges. So, in fact, I don't think you can even make a superficial comparison |
Woah! Sorry if this came across as serious. I just noticed a certain familiarity with both of 'em, and thought i might see if anyone else saw it that way. Obviously, they are two different things that can't really be compared, I was just musing to myself and BAM! Funny little coincidence. That's all. Bah, whatever.
Yeah...I heard that Chicken Run is based off The Great Escape. |

Nicely put, Nepharski... Very amusing! I mean, Mrs.Tweedy? Nice going. Now all we have to do is make the same paragraph comparing The Great Escape... :p
|
in The Great Escape the nazi's POW camp isnt a meat factory, super munch, and they dont decide to throw the jews into the meat grinders.
they decide to throw the jews into the ovens. |
in the making off CR they said it was based on the great escape...
I saw it and it's a fact. but it isn't totally based on the story, there are plenty of references, that's all :p |
