Best Music Video Ever
Three-way tie for me. In no particular order:
1. "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M., wherein there's this traffic jam on a weekday morning and everybody's thinking these depressing thoughts and you can READ THEIR THOUGHTS 'cause there are little subtitles under everybody showing what they're thinking. And then suddenly everybody starts like climbing out of their cars and throwing away their papers and things and it ends with like a helicopter view of this happening and some reporter talking about it. Good song too. 2. "Do the Evolution" by Pearl Jam. Very cool animated music video. Highly stylized, very dark, violent, actiony, fast-paced. Very strange. Horrible stuff happening, wars and things, and there's this woman dancing whose face momentarily becomes a skull. The song, I think, is decent, but I don't really know because I don't even pay attention to the music. I just love the video. 3. "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. I shouldn't even have to explain this one. But in case geography has prevented you from seeing it (like, if you live under a rock), there are these guys playing music up on this hill, and there's like this happy sunny 50's town below them and this stormy sky behind them. And weird stuff starts happening. These people walk into town with a sign that says "The end is nigh", and then supernatural things start happening, like these two boys are frying a cockroach under a magnifying glass, then there's a flash of light, and suddenly they're on the ground squirming and there's an intense light shining on them. And some other stuff. Extremely cool. Excellent music as well. Sorry for the long-winded explanations. You should have seen these already anyway. If you have any taste in music at all . . . What are your favorites? |
That Soundgarden song is class... one of the ones on my playlist, and also one of the ones that got stuck in my head and wouldn't go away.
The bit from the "do the evolution" video where the fighter pilot takes off his mask and turns out to be a skeleton is cool. Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana is a cool video. Maralyn Manson's "Coma White" has an interesting video about the Kennedy Assassination too. I can't really think of any other videos... other than perhaps Korn's "Freak on a Leash"... |
well, i liked enon's 'in the city' and sigur ros' 'vidrar vel til leftarosa' music videos.
other than that, there aren't too many music videos i liked. black hole sun was a solid video though. |
White Stripe's "Fell in Love with a Girl" and Gorillaz's "Clint Eastwood" will always rock my ass.
|
Oh yeah, Clint Eastwood. That was a cool one. I missed it when it was big because it was on late at night (Toonami had like an animated MV-fest that night), and then everybody talked about it forever. Finally I downloaded it. It was cool.

i'd have to say...
bodies, by drowning pool.... yeah.... |

Oh good frickin' Jesus, Sum 41 and Good Charlotte (Along with Simple Plan) have to be the STUPIDEST bands to ever exist. I so hate that style of music. I mean, some guy screeches in his banshee like voice "I just wanna liiiiiiiiiive!", just doesn't spark my interest. And I'm sure he meant "I just wish to live (Although I already am, aint I just thooper?)". Argh. Gak. I sure hate 'em.
Best video evah- Aphex Twin: Come to Daddy. The censored version wasn't nearly as good. And Black hole sun. That just rawks. |
Heh. Everybody likes Black Hole Sun.
As soon as LimeWire stops telling me everything I download is corrupted I'm going to download some of these music videos you people have mentioned. |
:
Truth be told, if their guitarist wasn't so god damn sexy I would never ever watch any of their videos, and wish painful slow death upon all of them. But instead I am currently devising a method of extracting said band member and erasing his memory, rendering him my permanent sex sla... uh, I mean, permanent best buddy with whom I would drink and be merry. And, as a side note, all Aphex Twin and Chris Cunningham videos are invariably excellent. Period. |
Yes, every Chris Cunningham video really rules. Do you have the DVD collection of the music videos by him..? If not, you should purchase it.
SterioGrams: Walkie Talkie Man is pretty impressive, if you are into sewing. It is one of my top ten, to be sure... How the hell could it lose to U2: Vertigo?!?! I mean, it's a guy standing going 'FEEEE-EE-IL!' with traces of his faeces behind him. I hate U2 so, so much. |
The Joker by Fat Man Slim. I love it how it has kittens doing everyday human jobs. I like it when they drug deal using cat nip, it's a funny take on the not so funny real life drug deals.

I like quite a few that've been mentioned here. |
:
Hmmm good videos? Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out was pretty good. Even though i'm bored of them now. Oh! and most of the Darkness's videos |
Muse - Sing for Abosultion. Whole of the video is CG, and it's quite a suprise when they discover london is destroyed.
And Bliss, falling down in a big hole and ending up in space was pretty cool. |
Theres a few for me;
Gwen Stefani- What you waiting for? -I loved the Alice in Wonderland theme. Muse- Stockholme Syndrome -Fxcking awesome song & video. Rammstein- Sonne |
Pink Floyd- The wall
what a whole film isn't taken in the votes? Too bad it's the best "video clip" made ever Rammstein- Sonne (also: Ich Will, Du Hast, Du Reighst So Gut 98') Marilyn Manson- The Nobodies (also: I don't like the Drugs, The Dopeshow, Long Hard Road out of Hell) Ozzy Osbourne- I just want you this one is fun but isn't in my favourites: Cradle of Filth- From the Cradle to enslave (they could have done better) |
MTV recently did a top 101 countdown on this...
Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, tonight. Autechre - second bad vilbel. CKY - 96 quite bitter beings. Deftones - My own summer (Shove It) |
Don't hate me for it, but I thought the video of the Reanimation version of Points of Authority by Linkin Park was great. Orcish creatures and evilish Automatons fighting a war. Ofcourse the Automatons won. Orcs are such girly losers...
Also, the video by Genesis, I think it was my Generation, or something? Someone help me out? It featured moving rubber masks, all shaped after celebs. There are ones of Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, I believe even Gorbatsjov (sp)... |
Nine Inch Nails-Wish, Happiness in Slavery, Help Me I'm in Hell, Closer, and The Perfect Drug.
Marilyn Manson-mOBSENE, The Man that You Fear, and This is the New Shit. Chevelle-The Red. Incubus-Are You In? Wish You Were Here, and Stellar. Tool-Prison Sex, Sober, Stinkfist, Aemina, and Schism A Perfect Circle-3 Libras, Blue, and Weak and Powerless. HIM-Buried Alive by Love, The Funeral of Hearts, In Joy and Sorrow, Join Me in Death, Pretending, Right Here in my Arms, The Sacrament, and Wicked Game. Gorillaz-Clint Eastwood, Rock the House, and 19/2000. Fatboy Slim-Weapon of Choice. |
Fatboy Slim - Gangsta Trippin.
Really cool video! Thanks for reminding me about him Agent-Sarah... |
Hey, anytime.
|
I forgot a couple...
Tool : Sober, Schism, and any other tool video. Truly some of the best. Stop motion rules! |
Oh yeah, schism is cool. When I first saw that I thought it was a cunningham video...
