Bird Flu

Did anyone else hear about that sickness that could kill a lot of people.

Ouch, I hope the people at Asia are okay.

That's just awful. And yes, Abe16, I hope that the people in Asia will be alright too and can resist being infected. I also hope that it doesn't spread to other continents because that would be even worse.

I don't have much time to read all of the stuff that site has about the disease, but it sounds pretty bad gathering from what a teacher was telling my class last week. Scientists are extremely worried that the virus will mutate and then will be able to pass from human to human. From what I've heard, the only way to get it presently is if you come in contact with infected meat/blood or if you actually touch a live bird that has the virus. Poor chicken farmer guys in Asia.

Fun fact: Many people have been catching the illness by a common dessert over there: A type of pudding made with duck blood. mMmm... :lick: :hungry:

Duck blood... The last temptation of Christ... Who could say no to it? I mean, it's a dipping sauce, a makeup kit and a vitamin diet soda in one!

Well, the countries are preparing for a world-wide spread, by ordering drugs that can combat the bird flu & also a vaccine is in the works (as soon as they work out which strand of flu it is).

However, the statistics for Britain is that 1 in 4 Britons will receive the drugs. So if over a quarter of the population catch this bird flu then well.. theres going to be problems.

They have no idea when the spread is gonna happen, could be next month.. could be 10 years from now.

Ah. Happiness. I was hoping (No offense, no offense!) that it would just stay in Asia. But, if the bird flu is in Asia currently, why the hell would anyone eat Duck Blood pudding, or anything bird related?! You would think that the bird flu would repel any sort of bird necrophage-ness. Ness. *cough*.

And how could the bird flu spread, anyway? I mean, I'm not pissing myself waiting for the next shipment of Asia brand Chicken McNuggets, mmm mmm. How so would it spread, unless persons with the disease travel, which I'm sure wouldn't be legal..?

"What? That's impossible! That only infects birds"

15 bucks to whoever can find where i took this from.
its a little offtopic but a funny coincidence(sp?) nontheless.
but why is it a bird flu?
EDIT:
corrected qoute.

It's a bit of a worry, as Chicken is primarily the only meat I eat, with a few exceptions. Nothing to do with being a vegetarian, just the taste of most red meat is repulsive.

By the way, an outbreak occured quite some time ago. Like, sometime last year :| I hope this isn't the first time other countries have heard of it.

I hope my friend will be alright, he only just got to Asia yesterday and now this has happened.

They're apparently cutting off all travel via plane and between countries.

Ultimately they're worried the bird flu will evolve into a virus that can pass from human-to-human. Which is possible apparently.

Dark Oddworld 03-02-2005 03:25 PM

I hope it doesn't break out around here. It most likely won't but still It could happen.
