Poor Old Doc

i was just wondering why the Outlaws needed to string up old Doc? :fuzconf:

The plot line could have been continued with out this bit of gratuitous violence.
The Outlaws, or Sekto`s boys, or whoever they were, did not know about the operation till after the capture of Stranger, so there was no real need to stretch Doc`s neck. Other than the fact that he was a greasy, moola grubbing, badly
dressed old bastard, and hey if that`s the case there should have been a
sh!t load more lynching in the first part of the story.

Esus 02-24-2005 01:25 PM

Maybe when they came to town, the Doc pissed them off.

MojoMan220 02-24-2005 01:26 PM

They are outlaws, that's why.

SeaRex 02-24-2005 01:29 PM

They also needed a trap for Stranger. I'm somewhere along the way, they were tipped off that Stranger needed to see Doc.

Why they killed him? Well, that's like Mojo said... they're Outlaws. They do what they want.

Volsung 02-24-2005 03:28 PM

Besides, its a spaghetti western standard. You go into town to meet your contact, bada-bing! your contact is dead and you're surrounded. That's the way we throw down.

Mudokon Princess 02-24-2005 10:00 PM

I agree with Sea Rex and Volsung

MudokonMan478 02-25-2005 03:14 PM

well in the cut scenne when u call seckto, seckto calls D.Casteraide and tells him that there is a bounty hunter in buzzarton. and the bounty stores probally keep in contact and the bounty store from gizzard gulch could have told told the one in buzzarton that there is a bounty hunter who visits doc. so when the outlaws came and ask for him in buzzarton the clakkerz told them talk to the doc he knows more about him then them. so they paid doc a visit, ask about stranger, doc refuse to tell, doc gets a short drop and a sudden stop. and the bounty hunters wait for stranger to come cause they know hes coming.

but thats just my thought

A vykker would never give his/her life up for another creature. He would say ''He's at the town!'' as soon as the outlaws stepped in the door. And the clakkerz know nothing about Stranger and Doc, only that he occasionally meets him.

TheRaisin 02-25-2005 04:46 PM

Yeah, Doc would sell out Stranger. And then they'd hang him anyway. Because, as SeaRex pointed out, they're outlaws.

typhonblue 02-25-2005 05:12 PM

Are you sure D. Caste Raider is an outlaw? He might be more of a vigilante justice type of character of the lynch mob pursuasion. I say he set a trap by finding and lynching doc, but didn't think to question Doc about *why* Stranger needed his services.

After all, the clakkerz were yakking about how "stranger needed to see doc" all over town. Easy enough to ask a few questions and then find doc and hang him high.

Cyber-Slig 02-26-2005 06:27 AM

An outlaw isn't a guy who breaks the law in Stranger. It's a creature. And he looks like Boilz, Xplosives and Blisterz. He clearly is an outlaw. And there is no vigilante in Oddworld Stranger. If problems arise, clakkerz take it into their own hands.

typhonblue 02-26-2005 09:18 AM

Right. And I suppose that explains why D. Caste Raider looks like a large wolvark?

BTW, Raider does not look like any of those characters. Boilz has a bulldog jaw, as does Blisterz, and Explosives looks like a frog. Raider has the same general face as a wolvark... massive overbite and big, upside-down ears.

Cyber-Slig 02-26-2005 10:02 AM

And do Wolvarks care if some clakkerz die? And if he was a wolvark, he would'nt use outlaws, now would he?

Wil 02-27-2005 07:26 AM

typhonblue, I thought D. Caste Raider was a Wolvark, too. But, technically, he's an Outlaw by species. Yeah, go figure.

TheRaisin 02-27-2005 02:07 PM

Well there seem to be some differences between the various outlaws. It could be that they're simply more diverse a species than other Oddworld species, either differing from individual to individual, or there could be different races among outlaws as there are among humans. Or there could be sub-species of outlaws. Or maybe this D. Caste Raider guy is just a freak.

Kimon 02-27-2005 02:47 PM

The only outlaw Caste D. Raider looks remotely close to is Fatty McBoomBoom.

they all look like variants of croc to me? *G*

typhonblue 02-28-2005 04:45 PM

Variations on a crock... good point.

Not true, there's also the Looten Duke.

Angel-FoX-crescent 03-04-2005 01:33 AM

All we know about vykkers is there nothing but backstabbing creatures that love nothing more then to inflict pain upon others
plus they would betray even their own kind just save his or her skin
I won't trust a vykkers even if you paid me a million bucks...

Over all vykkers a mean bunch and I show no sympathy what so ever to the likes of them...

AWWW 03-06-2005 01:54 PM

Still I would like to have seen a few more scenes with the Doc in it(we could get to know a bit more about Stanger). As at first Stranger seems to his only "friend" in the game.
I would had like that there was one final scene between the Doc and Stranger, maybe after Stranger makes the deal with Seko, he can go and tell the Doc the money would come soon, with the Doc giving one last line, I don't know "I'll see you then, then the next we see him would be that scene...

That's true, I forgot about him.

Nepharski 03-08-2005 02:59 PM

I think Fatty McBoomBoom, D. Caste Raider, and the Lootin' Duke (Who I ground to mince-meat, eh he he he...) share a common ancestory with the wolvarks. You know, like the Glukkons and the Oktigi. Maybe they both desend form the same, ancient species.

Fuzzle Guy 03-21-2005 07:54 AM

Just before you go into the temple, if you listen into the Clakkers Conversations, they say 'I hear Stranger needs to see the doc, he must be seriously sick if he wants to see that freak?"
Obviously this information has spred from town to town and when the outlaws came, they must have asked what Stranger was doing in town, so the clakkers would have told them (Wouldn't you if it risked your life)! The Clakkers must know about the Outlaws being there because he says 'Now good look with those outlaws.. I mean the Doc',
They must have blabbed.

duveaux 03-22-2005 05:58 AM

yeah, but though the doc was a jerk you took revenge on d caste don't you?:crafty:
mm mmaybe stranger didn't quite mean to revenge doc
