The forums went really slow yesterday...

I've just reminded myself that I couldn't log on or access the forums yesterday, because I was told that the server was busy. The page would either timeout on load, or would just let me browse logged off.

Dunno if this is a common thing or if anyone else experienced it, just thought you better know.

I take it that it isn't happening anymore? I know the server sometimes fluctuates a lot, and I find myself waiting for things to load.

No it was very bad yesterday, like as though the server load had gone up by hundreds of users really suddenly. I was waiting for literally 5-10 minutes for whole pages to arrive, and I'm on DSL. It was worse than dialup speed.

I dunno if you've ever had this before (me and the peeps on the rockmetalforums did), but you might have someone hogging your bandwidth by spamming from your mail server. It's fairly simple to fix, you just phone or email your host, and ask them to change the access password to the SMTP.

Another possibility, is that MSN and Google were fully spidering your site at the same time. Since your forum comes up on the first page of search results on Google and MSN search when you search for "oddworld" anyway, it might be an idea to just block the spiders for now.

... I didn't experiance that :S

Maybe there was something wrong with your internet connection... Was it like that on other sites?

I'm on AOL DSL which is supposed to be the worst DSL but I didn't experience any slowing down. It may have been your specific connection.

Wasn't slow for me.

I don't know what you're talking about. My connection was fine yesterday, can you specify the time?
