For those of you not in the states, simply keep panning over to w/e continent you're in

This is probably the shittiest way of navigating a map I have ever seen. I have been looking for ten minutes now for New Zealand...
...
God dammit. *Gets an atlas*
...
Okay, there seems to be some big uncrossable black area around New Zealand, but I got there.

Oh, what a surprise, it doesn't zoom for shit here.
I assume I live somewhere around here:

If you want better aerial images, go to www.multimap.com - you can zoom on that no matter where you are, and the pictures are really high quality.

EDIT: I take that back... they only do the UK. I was so sure they'd done an aerial survey of the whole planet.

Alcar 02-18-2005 04:06 AM

I live in the circled area.

I'm in one of the teensy houses within the hazy pink ring. I can't tell which one.

dripik 02-18-2005 11:52 AM

How did you get those pictures up here? Because I couldn't save them to my computer. But it is great! I saw my house and the stuff around the place: the park in front of my house, the tramway, the car showroom. :D
All from above!

But with Multimap, I've managed to make a picture. When I visited the website, it started with Hungary in the middle. How welcoming...

EDIT: Finaly, I've managed to get a picture with the other website. Prefabricated house in an industrial-like area. But it's nice.

Oddish 02-18-2005 12:07 PM

Dripik, You live in a quite industral place by the looks of it. Well mine is quite green

I'm supposed to live here, but it dosn't look very familiar.

Paramite catcher 02-18-2005 12:22 PM

I cant find my location on either map. Damn online maps!

sligster 02-18-2005 02:20 PM

you can also type in your adress on the side and it might bring you there

EDIT:

ok,

It took a bit of finding, but my house is...

here :)

This scares me... In a good way :p I typed in 'Wellington' (capital of NZ) and it brought me to open waters. Then again, it does mean boot.

Searching for an hour is enough... :fuzemb: I am stopping now.

a flock of seagulls 02-18-2005 07:28 PM

i typed in california as a city, and it came up with UK. anyways, i found my condo, but the pic is too large, resizing now...
EDIT:
there.

Try this part of the site:http://imageatlas.globexplorer.com/I...2&zoom_level=1
It looks like it's the same thing, except the search by address thing is different, you can just select country, then put Wellington in the City field. I mean, it came up with Otorohanga, and that's not really much of a city. :p
Anyway, I would post where I live, except that I don't really live in a city/town place and I can't zoom in enough in New Zealand. Also, the angle of the camera appears to be slightly out, according to a map of NZ I have.

Havoc 02-19-2005 03:45 AM

Lol, how hard can it be to scout your own city. Damn things look so diffrent from the top!
Anywayz, I found it. The circle marks the house I live in. It looks like I live in the middle of a huge industrial zone, and as a matter of fact I do :P. The huge plant on the right is a milk proccessing center, where milk gets prepared for shipping and stuff.
The area on the left is a huge bus garage where they are fixed and stored.

Dino 02-19-2005 05:11 AM

http://www.oddworldforums.net/attach...tid=2835&stc=1That's me in the red rectangle there.

Yeah, the common color is grey around here. :D And, as I said earlier, the tramway goes near, so it's a bit noisy. And buses come around often too. At least I can get to the underground station faster than walking.

im trying to find a pic of my mom's car :P

Leeum 02-19-2005 01:09 PM

How do you get UK on :/ ?

I typed "Wolverhampton" and then zoomed into the suburbs. I suppose you could type in one of the major cities and then navigate from there.

Here is mine.

Oddish 02-19-2005 01:27 PM

Rich the Intern, what are you talking about, you got plenty of greens where you live. :p

Rich 02-19-2005 01:30 PM

Shhh!

I live about two miles from the city centre, which is packed. But yeah, if I zoom out further there's even more green! Plus theres a park 200m down the road!

Oddish 02-19-2005 03:01 PM

I tyred looking for Area 51, but no luck.

smerles 02-20-2005 01:33 PM

*lol* :D

I coulnd't zoom in very much

I just clicked on the east button until it took me to the UK then I just zoomed and kept zooming and zoomed and so on.
