Native American Pride

Well I know for sure that there are 2 Native Americans on the forums (Kimon, TheLonelySteef), but I am sure there are more people out there that are maybe related to Native Americans non-directly (like your Aunt is but your parents arn't) To the Native Americans, we can discuss our customs and share what we know about our hertiage. I am Sioux Indian mostly along with other parts Native American. How about you? Also this month is not only Black History Month but also Native American Hertiage Month. I welcome all tribes, and if any of you are looking for Native American events locally I can find them for you.

They have Native American flute carving here on the 18th-20th. Oh and Shadowman this weekend I want you to teach me the raindance, so I don't look like a fool at the campfire meetings you make me come to.

Oddish 02-16-2005 01:06 PM

I'm happy for ya. I'm more of a Khantzumer than a Mudokon. No acually I think a Clakker, nooo, hopely I bit more of citizen type than a farmer type.

The Shadowman 02-16-2005 07:08 PM

Odd Trusting good to hear from you again
*exchange manly hugs*
Oh coarse I will teach you the raindance so the only ones that think you look like a fool will be and the neighbors while we are training for it.

I am part Cherokee Indian, but it goes way back so I don't resemble one at all really. My dad said he went and met with some Cherokee Indians that were related to him about ten years ago. This summer I went on a western vacation and I got to meet a lot of Indians that live over there in New Mexico, Arizona ect, but they aren't Cherokee. I also have a close friend that is 1/2 Sioux Indian. I think the Indian culture is extremely intresting, and I'd love to learn more about it.

i have some candianian indian in my blood. not sure what tribe though. for some reason i think it's blackfoot.

Teal 02-17-2005 04:54 PM

Well, I'm just your good old mongrel English. No Native American in me. :P But then I like my mongrel heritage. It is teh good karma. :)

I quessing Blackfoot is right, because that would the native tribe around in that region. Do any of you have anything from your culture still aroundor any customs, etc.

I'm getting slightly worried by your obsession with Native Americans. National pride is ok, I like England in the same way you like America. But you don't see me talking about morris dancers, do you?

...if you started talking about morris dancers, I would begin to feel worried for you. ;)

I suppose to be Native American is to be "cool", in current thinking. Summat like it, anyway. Whereas morris dancers are just... wrong. *twitch*

i'm like a small fraction cherokee.

this isn't directed to anyone in this thread or anyone who is legit in their Native American heritage, but i hate people who tout that they're like 1/16th Blackfoot or something.

i knew this girl who was like 'i can kick your ass. i'm part Blackfoot.'

it's like people who have Irish pride for being like 1/32nd Irish. laaaame.

odd chick 02-20-2005 11:10 AM

I have just a tiny fraction of Cherokee in my blood too, but when looking at me you can't even tell that I have it in me. :D But when looking at my dad and pictures of my late grandfather, you can tell that they have Cherokee in them a bit more. :) I think I have more Irish in my blood, though.

Gravity 02-20-2005 11:53 AM

I am the mongrel of minorities (for the most part):
1/16 Seminole Indian
1/16 Mexican (Hispanic)
1/8 Jamacian (Islander)
I'm not even going to try and figure out much egyptian I am
There's irish there somewhere, and a bit of Brit too (minority, not so much).
The rest is African American, as far as I know. I'll update if I find out anything else.

Kimon 02-22-2005 05:09 PM

I'm about 1/6 Sioux, but I've never met my Native American father, so I don't know too much about my culture. That really pisses me off, cuz it looks like a really cool culture and I'd love to learn more about it.

Ok. I guess I can add nothing to this discussion. ;)
