If this is already a posted topic then mods go ahead and delete it...is there anybody who DOESNT want OWI to come out with Citizen Siege? I dont because its gonna be on earth am i right?

I'm afraid I agree with you. I want the next game to be a second Stranger title. Also, I'm not so interested in a political game based on Earth.

Earth would be cool without all those greedy selfish corporate water-stealin hypocritical tyrant lame excuse for a human lieing SOB's ... and maybe this game will be all about stopping that.

i hoped for a game like Stranger 2 or Hand of Odd or something like that.

I doubt it will ever get made. OI has a tendency to announce games that they will probably never make. Sligstorm and Hand of Odd for instance.

Well it's worth a try, I mean if they realy want to do CS, then they will.

I think OWI doing Citizen Seige is a great idea, it's sounds good, I would like to se the dark side of things, like the quintology. And it gives OW the freedom to do earthly things, instead of putting them in oddworld (tractors, SoBe, chickens)
To me it sounds dark twisted.

I'm all about some Citizen Siege. I love Oddworld and the Quintology, but OWI could probably do a much more scathing political game. And Oddworld--while timeless--is very political already. Anyway, its not as if they'll lose the OWI flavor, it will just be darker, more (directly) connected to the times, and allow for new ideas to enter there games. And though Oddworld ISN'T earth, that doesn't mean it isn't based on earth. Why not go to the source and be blatantly political, instead of subversively so.

If its one or the other, I'll go Oddworld, but come on--there's no chance it will be one or the other. The only reason I can think of NOT to do CS is because they would be delaying new oddworld-based games. But I think I can handle that, as long as they make great games. So OWI...Bring it.

And P.S. Hand of Odd hasn't necessarily been cancelled (that I know of) last I heard production had just been halted. It still has a decent chance of being released some time in the future. And sligstorm wasn't really a game in its own right, just a kind of bonus adventure to add importance to a collectors edition of the two Abe games that never came to pass.

Though they are games that were announced that have yet to be released, its kind of like ME. They'll probably make it. Just not yet. (Admittedly ME has more certainty than the other two, but I'm just trying to make a point.)

With Citizen Siege, one thing has been nagging the back of my mind ever since I heard of it. Lorne said he intended to 'really **** certain politicians off', but I'm worried that those certain politicians might pull a certain few strings and get a certain company that we all know and love sent to court. I hope they don't mention names, or at least make them slightly abstract, like AmeriCo. which I love :D.

Uhmm... What is Citizen Siege about? Sounds like a strategy game... Never heard or read about it... :/

Frankly what Scrab watcher says is true is true. Look at movies like Ferinhight (which is mispelled) 9/11 it got alot of people talking trash about it. If OW is going to go through with this, I wouldn't encourage them to single out certian higher standing politicians, but give it "the simpsons" political humor. As for the likely-ness of OW making CS (crazy isn't it we all ready have a shortened title for a game we are not certian of actually going to exisits) is about a 30% maybe depending on the total profit of Stranger's Wrath it could be less, but what I am actually worried about is the fact that perhaps the quintology may not be continued ever. If you read the first 10 years at the beginning of the Stranger section it sounds like Abe and Munch are to be set on a self and put away. Stranger has a new kind of idea, a more magical theme relating more to right here, and also has a more complex for of humor compaired to the slap-stick humor of the previous games. I think the odds of the quintology coming back are lower than the possibility of CS coming out, and that really hurts me to think that

Why would you want a citizen siege anyway?

OWI learned from their past mistakes...such as releasing too much info as with Munch's Oddysee. We learned with Stranger, when OWI held back a lot of information and was very secret about production, that when OWI say something now...it's something they mean business about. I'm not sure when we'll see Citizen Siege, but I know we will see it.

Lorne has strongly views about the politicians and such, lorne just wants to express hs feelings by making a game out of it. That's excalty what lorne wants, to piss the politicians off, becuase what he'll show will be what's happeneding now. Althogh the game will be set in the future, but not in the too distance future.

Prehaps Oddwolrd games just don't show enoght what's going, lorne realy want to show it to the public.

I was like arrggghhh Earth!! but then I got thinking its not as though they are going to stop doing Oddworld games and movies. I also read 1984 again the other day and i thought how cool it would be to have a game set in the earths future with a 1984/blade runner style around corrupt sleazy politicians and politics in general!

I think that the mistake that many people are making is assuming that CS is going to be the next game. We've never had any confirmation of that, just Lorne saying he wanted to make CS some time in the future.

I personally think its a bloody good idea.

Lorne isn't stupid and I'm sure OWI has good lawyers that would look at the game and warn them if they are crossing any lines.

Remember that CS is planned to be set in the not-too-distant future, which means, I think, a 1984 style deal. Think of Soylent Green, but not necessarily the "made of humans" part.

It sounds as if Lorne wants to make clear what direction he thinks our current policies lead us in. That doesn't mean naming names, just showing the results of our political system's current trends.

As for continuing the quintology, I'm sure we'll see an ME. I'm less certain about Squeeks Oddysee, but as its Sherry's favorite character, I'd still put money on it. The others we might just see on film. I'd like games, but I sure do love me some movies.

I'm assuming that Stranger will be the next game then who knows maybe CS!? I'm not too bothered about quintology not carrying on in games if Lorne doesn't believe current technology can match his vision for the games( Imagine the last game though,all 5 characters together gonna be a huge game), It would be cool to see them as films(OWI will kick ass at this) and create new characters like stranger for games. Cos there is the whole of Oddworld to explore, exciting stuff

I have a feeling CS will be released next... I was a little skeptical when I first heard it would be set on earth, but I'm starting to like the idea. First, it's OWI, so it'll still be good... and Second, perhaps doing something different will help inspire them, give them some fresh ideas for the next Oddworld game, whatever it is...

As for Munch's Exodus, has anything actually been said about it? I know in the AE booklet they said there would be 10 total games in the quintology... but I haven't heard or read anything from OWI themselves about ME...

I thought it was only 5 main ones and many a bonus in between.
OWI should really finish off the quintology before making any other games, the series is already taking long enough(with the divert to Stranger).
The games series been great so far and I reckon they should keep the rest of the series in game form, theres no need to really turn them in to the limited film form...(come on how much can you get out of 2-3hrs ).

Not saying films are bad, just that games to films never really work out, just stick to great game, with great gameplay and very top class CG FMVs please.

As with Cs (CS=Counter Strike...Cs=Citizen siege), I would like to know alot more about before casting my final judgment,
EDIT:but I would prefer they make it after they fininsh telling the Oddworld story.(Gives the more then enough time to plan for it, plus they get the exp. from making all the other games)

I hope they finish the quintology and/or make another Stranger game(preferred lol) but for some reason i think games that involve humans fighting humans, aliens, beasts, whatever(though i dont think they are gonna be fightin aliens or beasts in this game)is so cliche because alot of games are like that...Oddworld is different, and for some thats the reason they play it, no humans, no "aliens"...difference ^_^...BUT if they come out with Citizen Siege, I'll buy it. Gotta represent my ODD Pride:D :p

I'm all for Citizen Seige. I can most definitely see a place for it in the market, and OWI would make it work so well.

Aye...I didn't hear about Lorne saying that. Hmmmm, so maybe he was talking about Citizen Siege in a "wouldn't that be nice" context, rather than a serious "this is the next game" thing.

It was one single interview that was reported widely. OWI has yet to confirm or deny.

I think if Oddworld is going to make Citizen Siege they should either finish the quintology off first or make it concurrently. I do think though that Citizen Siege would be awesome, it would give Oddworld a chance to try something new and maybe even change some people's perspectives on things.

it will probably be funny as heck, but just not the same (feeling wise)

What I'm worried about is art direction. Would it try to be realistic or would it be cartoony-couldn't-possibly-be-real-but-might-just-be kind of feel? I'm hoping it's the latter. :)
