Metal Arms
Glitch in the system.
Anybody else played it? I think it's great. When I blew up a Mil's arm, he went around screaming "Oh the pain!" And I killed another, and the legs were still there, running loose! It's kind of a mixture of Ratchet and Clank Gameplay, and the Storyline Oddworldish. |
I played it. It's got a very Oddworld Like Story line but Ratchet and clank gameplay
|
I've got it, I've had it for a while now. I don't really like it much. The more I play it, the less I like it. The only reason I ever play it anymore is for the multiplayer and those cool Predator bots.
|
I've never even heard of it.
|
ah, Metal Arms.
Wonderful game. Too bad it was a sleeper game and noone bought it. It's been out for months and barely anyone knows about it still. The game is great, though. Go play it. now. |
Oh yes I love Metal Arms. I find it very Oddworld-esque sometimes. Cute characters, and some good old fashioned smart-mouthing. Plus you get to shoot alot of things. How can this game be bad?
I agree, I stumbled upon it by chance, shame more people don't know about this little gem. |
umm.. i think the half of this forums doesn't know what you're talking about... What about explaining a bit about the game, giving some screenshots or anything ?? :)
Does it have a website? |
You can look it up online..just search "Metal Arms: A Glitch In The System" I would do it for you but all gaming sites are blocked for me at work. Even www.oddworld.com and the microsoft sites. But it's a game for Xbox and it's part Halo, part Oddworld :D It's really good. You play as Glitch, this little robot, and you have to help save other robots from having their world taken over from even more robots (evil robots..can we say industrialists? :) Anyways it's definitely worth checking out!
|
I've never actually played Metal Arms, but I've seen some videos/previews of it a long time ago! :) It looks like a good game! And yes, it's sad that many people haven't even heard of it. Maybe I'll pick it up and rent it sometime. ;)
|
lets not forget the ability to jack enemies!
VERY oddworld- esque stuff there |
Aw... I thought this was a PC game. Too bad I don't own an XBox...
|
My brother bought the game a few months ago, and finished it spectactularly fast. But he still likes it, and I've versed him in multiplayer a few times. I liked it to a point, but it didn't really do much for me. I've become more fascinated with Halo 2, simply because of the storyline (which ends really crap, I've heard).

everyone expected a big climactic showdown with the covenant, but instead it ended.... whoops, have you played it yet? I'll keep the spoilers to myself, then. :p |
I've heard 'Halo 2' has an amazing ending if you watch past the credits.
I bought 'Metal Arms' today, actually, and yeh, t'is quite good. Not as good as i thought, but still good. |
Its also for GCN.
Speaking of Sleeper games, you guys should check out System Shock one or two. Very cool. |

yea... spoilers to myself |

OK. I'm going to tell you how HALO 2 ends
*SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS* This only works if using industrial skin, btw. Arbiter *the elite* stops the ring from activating, by taking out the artifact from the little glowey beam thingy. meanwhile master chief is on the covenant ship thats heading for earth. Arbiter, captain jones, and that one chick who likes like micheal jackson in the beginning are talking to the little floating robot thingie. the screen goes back to the cheif and shows him radioing to the captain of the earth fleet. the captain asks him what he's doing on that ship. master cheif replies with "Stopping this war". *fade out* now there is a crap long credits. after the credits you see the giant snake type thingie who controls the flood say something about still being there, and having questions. you then see cortona(sp?) come up in the little holoprojecter, she says "Ok. shoot". *fade out* welp, that was my spoiler, now back to metal arms. i havent played it, but i extremely wanted it!!! |
This a part of my favourite character, Krunk:
"Who the F*ck are you?" Says Krunk "Slush! My name is Slush!" Says Slush "Well it's nice to f*cking meet you! I'm Krunk, and welcome to droid town!" Krunk "I don't want to disapoint you or anythin, but I think i've had all the relaxation I can take!" Slush screams. "Aaaaa, Krunk. You have such a eligant way with F*ckin words!" Connol Alloy says. Ps: They beep out the Swares! |

now the I have gone. But my mind is not at rest and questions linger on..... yea, Gravemind is one of the coolest characters in the game. He has some awesome poems, too. |
So, upon playing the game i've decided the following things -
The humour is humerous. Blowing the limbs of the Mils is amusing...at first. Krunks expletives are amusing...and continue to amuse. The game is repetative...and upon realising just how repetative it was, made me want to mount an angry Hippo. The first few levels are good, though i found the speech quality in the cutscenes to be rather bad. Not the acting quality, that was good, just the sound. I could barely hear what was said. But after a while the game gets immensely repetative and i just wanted to complete it. Something i couldn't do within 5 days, because of the length of the game, which is good! Well done. More games should be this length. But more games should be better than this. I've never really understood the whole hype, and at first i was like "Wow, yeh, this is quite a good game!" but that slowly drifted into a pit of lyingness. I ended up thinking to myself "You know, this game really isn't that good. The quirkyness of it is, and it is fairly amusing. But all i'm doing is shooting things. Over. And over. And over. Again." Because of this i would give Glitch a big 4/10. It disgusted me. It lured me into a false sense of "yayness" and then proceeded to beat me with a 12"...erm...Salamander. So bruised and weary i took the game back...and got a "credit note" (bloody Gamestation, not giving cash refunds) and i will now await until a game i'm confident about comes out. Yes. This review could be better, yes it could, but i'm tired and distracted, so it will continue being this crap, each time you read it. Yes it will. Bitches. |
I play it in small doses with large periods of time in between, so I don't get sick of it.
The voice quality is bad because they're robots. Those Zombiebots are undoubtedly the coolest robots ever. They're robot zombie ghosts! How can you get cooler than that?! Except that they're annoying as hell to blast apart two or three times so they FINALLY DIE! I would give Metal Arms maybe a seven out of ten, because A) I'm used to repetitive video games and B) I probably haven't played as much of it. Now I need to go watch past the credits on Halo 2. Damn Bungie for sneaking a scene past me with their damn credits. I hate credits, and there's no way to skip or fast-forward on a video game. Argh. |
Ever since playing some old game on the PS1 with a secret thing after the credits. I've watched through the credits in every game I've completed. Nothing get's past me :D.
|
Yeh, same here. Especially with the ending of 'Beyond Good and Evil' [which was going to be a trilogy, damn the studio's not making the sequels because of bad sales of the first!]. And 'Halo' where Guilty Spark 343 flies away safely, i've always watched afterwards.
I like scenes after credits, they should do it to all games, but give you a choice to speed the credits up, like in the first Buffy game. |
