log out

When ever I log out. It always says that an error has occured.
What is that?

Gretin 01-22-2005 07:34 PM

I have the same thing happen, it says: "An error occurred while attempting to log you out. Click here to log out."

It doesn't actually seem to have any effect (except annoying you maybe:D), but it would be interesting to know what the error is...

Alcar 01-22-2005 09:49 PM

It's because we forgot to manually change things in the templates during the upgrades we have done. We have been very bad people *spanks*

I guess I'll go and change it.

I know how to fix it. Don't log out.

Yeah, that's what I do!:D
I just tried it when I read that AbeGuy was having trouble. The only problem with that is if your computer is shared...

Godlesswanderer 01-23-2005 10:03 AM

If you use a shared computer it's best to use different log ins on the actual system. The log in names have different sets of cookies. For example, me and my brother have different log ins on our computer, both of us set site log in as stay logged in. There's never any problems.

Wil 01-23-2005 01:35 PM

It's not exactly the same error, but Oddworld Forums has been automatically logging me out in the middle of sessions. This is not really annoying, as I can simply log in again, but it is weird.

I'm fully prepared to accept that it's my browser. It's been screwy all day: randomly stopping working, suddenly closing itself down, claiming I can't log in to my profile (I didn't know I had one). I thought Mozilla was supposed to be good. *sigh*

Facsimile 01-23-2005 10:00 PM

The only reason I see for logging out (even if you're on a shared computer) is if someone else who uses your computer comes onto the Oddworld Forums. And I assume the chances for that happening are low.

Alcar 01-24-2005 03:40 PM

It's your computer :p Because even my computer does weird stuff with cookies. I'll be using the 'www'-less domain name of the Oddworld Forums to browse as a guest, and for some reason, it will send the cookie to the browser than I am browsing using the 'www'-full domain. Yet I will still be a guest, just the user Alcar is online :|

Which defeats my original purpose of staying logged out to browse.

Why would you do that? Seems mighty suspicious to me.

Facsimile 01-24-2005 11:48 PM

Agreed.
BURN HIM!

Alcar 01-25-2005 02:15 AM

Sometimes I only want to check in on the forums, to see who is online, or to get some information from a thread. I don't want the hassle of having all unread threads marked as read, because it makes life harder for me when I return later on, and am in the mood to actually reply to threads.

I guess it could seem suspicious, but then I could just make myself Invisible if I didn't want people knowing I was online ;)

That wouldn't be half as funny if you hadn't changed your avatar to GWB.

Like sometimes I use test accounts. Occasionally I need to view the forums as a "user" would view them and not as an admin would.

That's kinda the point. Do you think we should have to complete a multiple choice test on the intricacies of heron mating rituals before we can log out?

Oh, and if you're going to revive an old thread, please make sure you actually have something to say. In fact, make sure of that wherever you're posting.
