What movie do you want to see?

What movies do you want to see?
I want to see White Noise and Boogieman..scary..*looks around* *pees in pants* DAMN I JUST CHANGED!!

SeaRex 01-17-2005 08:08 AM

I personally want to see the new "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie because I was literally raised on "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." I've seen it at least 10 times. At the very least.

CATCF is being directed by Burton... so I guess it shouldn't be too bad. You know the imagery is going to be crazy good, and Johnny Depp is playing Wonka, so that just adds another layer of "creepy as Hell." I mean, have you seen the movie poster?! Depp looks like anorexic, female vampire in a crushed velvet jump suit. That's the stuff of nightmares, right there.

All the creepy stuff is fine; but if Burton f*cks up the Oompah Loompahs, his ass is mine.

That's really the only movie coming out that I want to see. "Boogieman" looks like it has potential, if you count "let's all cash in on the 'kids are scary' fad" as potential. I probably won't see it.

Rex Tirano 01-17-2005 11:06 AM

The Phantom of the opera.
The Incredibles (No I haven't seen it yet)
White Noise
The grudge (jap. and eng. version)
And Charlie and the choc. factory.

Abeguy 01-17-2005 11:30 AM

can't say, well, I can but there are too much

namely catcf, Star Wars III, etc. etc. etc.

Wil 01-17-2005 11:48 AM

Royston Vasey - the Movie and The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy are the two films that are going to mean the most to me this year. Whoop yeah! I also haven't seen The Incredibles yet, and I'm really looking forward to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It looks twisted, and that can't be bad. Dahl is thooper.

Don't plan on ever seeing White Noise, though. All I hear of is how bad it is.

Esus 01-17-2005 12:09 PM

Royston Vasey - the Movie, definately.
Possibly Madagascar, but mainly because someone else wants to see and is hyping it up. I doubt I'll like it that much.

The new chocolate factory film really looks bad by the trailers, at least to me, which is a shame. Especially Depp, who looks so so very wrong for some reason. "Depp looks like anorexic, female vampire in a crushed velvet jump suit." is probably why.

I'll see Star Wars III, not really expecting much though. I wanna see White Noise as well, is apparently good, though I think I'm going on how friends hyped it up again... :s

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Hitchikker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Nate 01-17-2005 12:56 PM

Jeez, I've never even heard of any of these movies. Shows how far behind we are down here.

So they are finally making the Hitchiker's movie. I guess they were waiting for Sir Douglas to pass on first. Any idea what it's going to be like without him at the helm?

SeaRex 01-17-2005 01:33 PM

No way! They're making a Royston Vasey movie?! That was the "League of Gentlemen" show, right? Local shop for local people? Nosebleed epidemic? I'M SO WATCHING THAT BITCH!!! Seriously. That was one of the few british comedies that I actually watched on a regular basis.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" is another movie I had no idea existed that I'm probably going to see eventually. Or something.

I'll also see Episode III... just because. Also, the live action "Evangelion" movie, if only to complain about it to friends later on.

Facsimile 01-18-2005 01:39 AM

I haven't heard of any of these movies coming out.
I'm interested in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory now though, and I'll most likely see Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, but being of a movie of a book, the chances are against it being good.

Wil 01-18-2005 10:36 AM

The Hitchiker film uses the script/screenplay/ideas Adams wrote for it, so you can't complain about the story. There are some changes. I guess most noticably, Ford Prefect is played by Mos Def. Intriguing... I don't see anything wrong with changing such relatively minor details, though. So long as it's the same character, that's all that matters.

I'm a little more concerned about the League of Gentlemen film. It's about the inhabitants of Royston Vasey struggling to rescue their town from an Armageddon, and involves a vortex through which characters travel to the 17th Century. I just have nightmares of the characters finding out they're actually fictional. :\

Nepharski 01-18-2005 10:55 AM

I'm eagerly anticipating Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Who isn't?), Star Wars III (Which will hopefully clear up my slight agrivation with it's two precursors), and Batman Begins (Which will erase my memory of the lack-luster other 4).

I'm not looking forwards to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. They turned Willie Wonka into a child molester. No thank you.

I'm going to see it. But just to boo my arch enemies the oompa loompas. Bastards

Godlesswanderer 01-18-2005 11:28 AM

I din't even know there was a League of Gentleman film, but like Searex said I'M WATCHING THAT BITCH!!! I've gotta say, The League of Gentleman has to be the best comedy I've ever watched. It's so good, I feel I have to post a random Royston Vasey image.

Sorry about that, I felt very, very hyper there.

What was wrong with them? They seemed to follow the suit of the first three films. The only problem I see with the newest two are that most of the fans are now no longer children.
On the note of the newer films, I still can't get over the complexity of the plot for The Phantom Menace... bearing in mind it's really a kid's film, the crux seems to be a duplicitous trade blockade, instigated covertly by an ambitious politician, against a fairly innocent planet acting as the underpinning vehicle for said ambitious politician to discredit the party leader, then usurp him. Meanwhile as an ironic counterpoint the self-same blockade acts as the catalyst to reconcile and unit the two peoples of this innocent planet, seemingly with the effect of saving the day. The final irony of the major plot being that the blockade's objective was never trade based in the first place and amply succeeded in its political aims.

Whilst this all unveils, the government's peace-keeping representatives discover a promising young boy who they choose to train as one of them, under the shadow of an ominous evil agent sent to the planet for little purpose other than dramatic effect.

Compared to "A New Hope":

The baddies have built an evil giant space station, and a gifted farm boy, trained by a wizard, blows it up. A lovable space pirate helps.

If anything, the original films seem to have even more lame dialogue and directing; not to turn this into a Star Wars thread, of course.

Wil 01-18-2005 12:30 PM

All I remember from The Phantom Menace is the pod racing and the mosquito guy.

Nobody's mentioned The Magic Roundabout. I know very little about it, but Joanna Lumley is providing the voice of the cow. Yay! I just may have to cover my ears when Dougal speaks. Robbie Williams - uck.

He always was a child molester. Have you seen the first movie? It still creeps me out.

I'm told that he said (some time ago, before he died) that the movie was going to be as similar to the book as the book was to the radio show and the TV show was to both of them. Thus there are going to be four seperate official versions of the story.

Mostly just the acting, but a fair few trivial things also bother me. I still like them, I just wish they could be more.

Movies... hmm...

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is an absolute must. Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was creepy in the first place... I can't wait to see what Tim Burton does with it. And Johnny Depp-ness is always good.

The Life Aquatic is also a must.
Scientist guy: "What would be the scientific purpose of killing [the shark]?"
Steve Zissou (main character's name): "Revenge."
The way he says that is just so... great.

And The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy maybe because it sounds pretty good, except I haven't read the book.

*Gasp!*

...Sorry, lost my train of thought there. Another movie (Though I have no Earthly inclination as to when it approaches) that looks good, is Peter Jackson's King Kong. Groovy!

Leto 01-19-2005 12:30 AM

Resident Evil 3? (Rumored, but I can be hopeful.)
Doom: The Movie.
Spongebob the Movie, again. Call me juvenile, but its extremely funny.
Rosten Vasey movie. Only just heard of it. W00t!1!!1!11

Cyber-Slig 01-19-2005 07:22 AM

Star Wars 3. I'm not big on movies. If a film is coming out soon then I've seen it already. That is, if I want to. In Scotland film piracy is very high.

OANST 01-19-2005 08:20 AM

The Life Aquatic was great if anyone cares. It's the fourth film by writer, director Wes Anderson-see Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Royal Tanenbaums.

Nath 01-19-2005 12:21 PM

:

Yeah, that's because you haven't got many cinemas.

I wanna see Team America (if that's what it's called, from the makers of South Park). I dunno if it's out in the UK yet or not.
I'm sooo looking forward to the next Batman film, but every since Tim Burton stopped making them, they went crappy. George Clooney and Arnold Schwarzennegger... Don't think so.
I will probably watch Episode 3, although the other two didn't really do anything for me.

I can't think of any other films that I wanna watch, but i'm sure there's more.

Nate 01-19-2005 12:42 PM

I saw a poster for The Life Aquatic a couple of days ago at the cinema and it looks... intriguing. What is it about and why does Bill Murray command top billing? The guy has only had one good movie in the last decade.

It is, indeed, now in UK cinemas. And is supposedly very good.

Nate 01-19-2005 04:43 PM

It is good. Not brilliant (aside from the destruction of downtown Paris) but good.

Abe's son 01-19-2005 05:24 PM

Oh **** Team America was one of THE funniest movies. EVER!

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are my new Jesus Christ... seses...

HGTG - Definitly gonna see it.

Batman - Yes, I usally hate Batman and Spiderman and everyother hero like that. But this looks badass...man.

Willy Wonka looks OK... Depp does look like Manson but whatever.

What I want to see someone make is a Lovecraft film. Cthulhu or any of those.

Alone in the Dark looks good, I wonder if it'll be about the game series or just have the same name.

A Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines movie or just a VtM move might be coming out, White Wolf sold the movie thing to some studio. If its about the normal VtM Pen and Paper game, then fans regoice! The Assamite clan'll be in it!

And if you havn't seen Blade: Trinity, then go see it. Its good. Other than a
few parts... but its good.

Also... there's a rumor that... they'll make...

Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (Army of Darkness)

If they do make this, or Evil Dead 4, WHICH SAM RAMEY PROMISSED US! I will, actually cream my jeans. Even though I don't wear jeans... I wear trousers...

Movies They'll **** up worse than Me------------
Far Cry: The Movie
Doom: The Movie - The Rock? Hell no! On Earth? THATS NOT EVEN IN ANY OF THE GAMES!
Dead or Alive: The Movie - They'll get one part right... I'm not even gonna say it.
Children of Dune - Rumors... but if they make it. I don't see the point. Its all talking, and people getting high off of ODing on teh spice. And if they do make it... I'll see it...

SeaRex 01-19-2005 05:42 PM

:

Freddy vs Jason vs Ash (Army of Darkness)

That movie would suck because it would be five minutes long. Freddy and Jason would walk into S-Mart, and Ash would blow Jason's head off with a 12-gauge and then sodomize Freddy's stupid ass with a chainsaw.

The end.

Hell, I'd watch it.

But I seriously hope they don't make a movie like that. First off, it's a crappy idea. Second off, the movie would be five minutes long. See above comment. Some fan boy probably thought up the whole idea anyway.

hee hee, fortnight:D

If you are talking about League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, it's based of a graphic novel about many NON FUNNY Extraordinary Gentlemen

Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy is going to be a movie?
Gosh, The Film Industry read my mind.
