Where do Babies come from???

Well that just seems to be a question that parents dread the most. So I'm wondering what were you told when you were a kid? And if you have kids, what do you tell them?

AquaticAmbi 01-12-2005 07:30 PM

I simply never asked. When I was really young, I thought it just magically happened when people got married. By the time I was old enough to understand it's not a magical process and started piecing things together in my mind, I didn't want my mom to tell me how... because of awkwardness. Everything I've learned, I've learned from friends or from my own little "reasearch". My mom used to ask me what I knew, though... I'd answer as vaguely as possible.

If my children ask at too young of an age, I'll simply say it takes two people that love each other (although love is sadly not required, but they can learn that when they're older). When they're nearing their teens, I'll be as straight forward and unawkward as possible, with the aid of books and the internet probably.

I've known for as long as I can remember. Honestly, I don't think my parents have ever told me a lie about anything of this nature. Then again, I've never really asked. I guess I just pick up on things really well.

Parents really should teach their kids about things like this. Unless sex ed in schools gets drastically better, they're never going to get the unadulterated facts from teachers. And even if they could, why would they? Why should a teacher have to disclose the facts of life to a bunch of students? Isn't this what parents used to do?

now theres the internet....

I never asked where babies came from. I got the sex talk around 9 or 10 when I made it well known around my home(children are always so vocal about what they think) that I thought women wet their pants all the time. I saw it on those commercials with the women talking about leaks and such.

Well, I believe it was my mother who pushed my Dad into correcting me. Anyway, he gave me the entire talk and I hardly understood what he was telling me. My widdle child mind couldn't comprehend.

I pretty much found out what I know now through friends and research. Yup.

I was led to believe that babies came from storks. But then, I was a very slow child.

Mudokon Princess 01-13-2005 12:49 AM

LOL...i was told over and over again because i kept asking because i kept forgetting lol

Hobo 01-13-2005 08:00 AM

"Mum. How are babies made?"

"Sex... *short explaination"

"Wow. Sounds fun"

Godlesswanderer 01-13-2005 12:42 PM

I never had to ask, I just picked up bits of it from what I heard from friends the rest was filled in with sex ed. Back then I thought it was disgusting. That was before I found the joy of porn

Jacob 01-13-2005 01:36 PM

'that I thought women wet their pants all the time.'

They do. That's what those pads are for...right?

My mother told me the Stalk brought me. And i was quite content to believe that. Up until what age, i won't exactly say. *Ahem*

Facsimile 01-13-2005 02:56 PM

I never asked, I just picked it up from what I saw on TV and heard from friends I would imagine. I just never wonder about where things come from.
And if ever any kids I have don't do the same thing then I will abandon them because they aren't smart enough.

Nate 01-13-2005 04:15 PM

I never got the chance to ask because I knew as soon as my older brother knew. Thus I knew all about sex before I was old enough to realise that there are some things you shouldn't discuss in polite company. This caused many embarassing moments; which would explain why I never had a 21st birthday party along with the accompanying speeches.

When it came to the proper sex talk my dad did the same thing he'd done with my brother; he waited until we were in the car going somewhere and I couldn't escape. He still did quite a shoddy job of it and I didn't really learn anything until sex-ed a few years later (Australia seems to be quite progressive in that department).

cover your stump before you hump
pack your meat before you go in the heat
AND F*** HER GOOD!! tell them that

sliguy101 01-13-2005 07:02 PM

Ya know what's scary, I learned from TV. :O

TheRaisin 01-13-2005 07:09 PM

Oddly, my god. Everything you say is at least moderately offensive. Why?

People like Oddly Insane are exactly what goes wrong with children.

Nate 01-13-2005 08:10 PM

We must find the cause of the trouble so that we can root it out once and for all.

*pulls out leather couch and puts on a German accent*

So Oddly, for how long have you been attracted to your mother?

Jacob 01-13-2005 08:37 PM

This reminds me of that random black guy who went to the Doctor scared shizenless that he was melting. All was well however, as the Doctor informed him he only had Diarrhea...

Well, it doesn't, but i love that joke so much i just had to tell someone.

You're worse than the blonde midgit who tells me he hates me. Please go away, and don't hesitate in doing so.

Anyway, on topic: Was anyone told something totally full of lies like some big ass bird brought you or something?

Fuzzle Guy 01-14-2005 10:01 AM

I learnt from a young age. I was never told any crap like a stalk or something

Mojo 01-14-2005 11:01 AM

Stalk? Whut's a "Stalk"? Please be nice to me, I'm just a stupid Dutchman.

I found out the hard way. Saw my folks have sex.

I thin it's spelt stork, it's a white bird that carries babies to parents.

School told me when I as 8. Jesus christ, whe I was 8! I still believed in Santa claus then. It was awful, I didn't want to know. For gods sake I as 8! *goes off grumbling

Esus 01-14-2005 01:36 PM

I'm not a curious chap. I never bothered to think about it, and learnt when it was taught in school or through general finding our stuff through tv and people talking.

Oddly Insane 01-14-2005 02:37 PM

a flock of seagulls 01-15-2005 02:58 AM

i learned when we got HBO latenight.

TheRaisin 01-15-2005 12:37 PM

Heh heh, AFOS. Rock on for digital cable, eh?

Reptile 01-15-2005 02:29 PM

I asked my dad one day because I knew the whole stork thing was bullshit. He said to me;

"Derek, you see...when a man loves a woman, they both marry and have sex, and then a baby is born."

Back then before my dad told me, me and my friend called it the 'Big Naughty.' We apparently believed a man and woman take off their clothes and go to bed, the man is in control of something and then a baby is born. How my small preteen friend asked? Dunno, probably a key or something.

One final note, are storks real? If they are, Rexy's theory on them delivering babies is sooooo weird. *mutters on like an old parrot.*
