Medieval madness

How art thou on such a day as this. Tis thou enjoying themselves? And I could go on like that if I so much as disired to. Anyway welcome any of you who are history buffs like myself, no I do not wear glasses, but this kind of history is the interesting kind, the tough kind
It is a time of chivalry, a time of honor, a time of betting up someone who you just don't like because he supposively insulted your honor. Ah yes the Middle Ages. Come all of ye to discuss enjoyment of the medieval period, and thou shalt all talk as lords and equals. Talk of medieval weapons, times or whatever else you may please. It is medieval madness, and for any of those school children who have a test coming up, well thou hast come to the right place. Drink and be merry, m'lords! Huzzah to that, aye!

I'm taking bets on how long this thread will last.

The Shadowman 01-04-2005 05:26 PM

as long as thou keeps responding my good friend, and as long as I keep forcing thine's Unoffical Oddworld magizine crew to be put to hard labor unless they respond

Just who do you sell these "Unoffical" Oddworld magazines to? How many sales do you get per year? Who's your publisher? How much do you sell your copies for?

The Shadowman 01-04-2005 05:43 PM

In this order, the locals of California, well we used to make people pay to keep it on the press but know we have a fundraiser and as long as people keep paying to the fundraiser we don't charge them a dime, our publisher is an unoffical. Any more ways I can help ye m'lord

The Shadowman 01-04-2005 06:15 PM

Thou appoligizes for thine's double post but thou would like to ask if anyone of the readers haft heard of the SCA

Facsimile 01-04-2005 06:39 PM

What the **** is the point of this thread? And why did you double post when you can edit?

The Shadowman 01-05-2005 02:56 AM

Does thou insult thine honor! ah, I'll take it easy, the thread is for history and that stuff and a possible homework helper, as for double posting nobody reads the last post again unless you tell them to so how are they suppose to know about it.

Odd Trusting 01-05-2005 04:11 AM

It is thine Odd Trusting back again, thou hast heard of the SCA (and you already know I did). So what shall we discuss, the halbrid the flail, William the Conquerer...

You have to be nasty don't you

Cyber-Slig 01-05-2005 08:33 AM

Yes that was not needed. However shadowman could have explained in a normal way so people get the point.

The Shadowman 01-05-2005 09:25 AM

I suppose I could put in laymen's terms instead of Paldrinic Old English. And OT what do you know of the flail, the mace's cousin, the mace execpt it has a long chain attached and has bone crushing, no bone powdering power. Or the halbrid a compination of a pike (spear) and pole arm axe to be able to dimount calvery and attack the swords men without jeperodising one or the other

I don't mean to break the theme, but thou hast written as if thou art from the times of Shakespeare. Thou art needing to speak in Middle English.

Thou dost jest young knave,
"This will last out a night in Russia,
When nights are longest there: I'll take my leave.
And leave you to the hearing of the cause;
Hoping you'll find good cause to whip them all." (That's Shakespeare, you know! A farthing to anyone who can guess which play.)

Ah in shakespeare everyone spoke that way. See talking in these terms has been used since biblical times, well it was the way the english translated them, in the Middle Ages people of high importance spoke in this manner to glorify themselves, mainly preists, monks, or palidians (which is pretty much a monk that is a warrior).
The common term of ye substituing you was made in the middle ages, and used in later ages alike, So the reason I use that call it Paldrinic Old English is because it uses the thou and thines that had been around for about 2 centuries prevoius but also includes words that only came about in the Middle Ages, Dark Ages, and Rennissance such as shalt instead of shall, forthwith instead of forward or immediatly and so on. Oh and the reason it is used in Shakespeare is because he spoke/presented to the rich and nobles who may have also spoke in that fashion. Of coarse they didn't always speak this way 24 7, just when they where appearing powerful or great. They, although, almost always wrote in the Old English term
But Godlesswander, it is appearent you have some extensive knowledge of the Middle Ages because you said they speak in Middle English, middle English is what they spoke, Middle English is the Old English with the Middle added words included, so I am impressed by this and it is easier to say Middle English them Paldrinic Old English. Oh crap, I am giving history lessons again without people asking

EDIT: Incognito, how about a half shiling for making guess, aye

Odd Trusting 01-05-2005 12:51 PM

Well said m'lord. Oh, shadowman, Duke of Dubois, enlighten us with your knowledge m'lord, and share the ale with all of us in the mead hall

Nate 01-05-2005 12:52 PM

Having been inspired by this thread, I'm going to start a new one up where people can only speak Elvish.

Llie n'vanima ar' lle atara lanneina

Nate 01-05-2005 01:01 PM

Shadowman, may I suggest you join the DNA, the National Dyslexics Association?

The Shadowman 01-05-2005 01:06 PM

I would if you hadn't taken the last open space for it. Of coarse we are just joking around here, no need for me to say any of the "do you insult my honor" stuff

Incognito 01-05-2005 01:28 PM

Incognito, how about a half shiling for making guess, aye
Nay, a farthing or the gallows for ye boy! Och fine then I shall give you a clue. It was spoken by the one they do call Lord Angelo (and if that isn't enough of a clue I don't know what is.)

Enough said...

This thread is stupid. It has too many themes.

The Shadowman 01-05-2005 03:01 PM

Too many themes, indead, this is a medieval thread, not a go panzy thread, Rich is right. Oh and by the way the thread has been alive for one day already so lets just say I won the bet. Oddly Insane, thou's humor delights us, please stay as long as you wish on this thread. And for Incognito, I beleave that is Measure for Measure if I am right. Good play done by Shakespeare, it is also impresive to see someone who read it. To answer Al the glukkons question about the glasses, it means I don't wear glasses thats what.

Al the Glukkon 01-05-2005 04:44 PM

I was reffering to your use of stereotypes.

The Shadowman 01-05-2005 04:51 PM

Well I am a sterotype for the weird person who accidently freaks people out myself, So I will use a different stereotype, I don't have a pocket protector or do any nerdy things. Know wearing glasses isn't nerdy but if they are round shells that can burn ants, then you chose them that way. But no I have many friends who where glasses. Wear is that spit of slave of mine, Odd Trusting, he is suspose to be doing the dishes for me and then cutting the lawn with scissors

Oddly Insane 01-05-2005 05:32 PM

Thanks Shadowman

Majic 01-05-2005 08:02 PM

The thread indeed lasted longer than a day. Though sadly, only 2 hours and 53 minutes longer. *tuts*
