What are you all studying/want to be in the future?
I was just finishing some coursework and I was just wondering: What are you all studying or want to be?
I'm currently studying Fashion Design and Fashion Engineering-I'm hoping that one day I could design for Christian Lacroix, Lanvin or Cerruti one day. I kind of got involved in the whole fashion thing when one of my friends began an apprenticeship at Prada and now designs as a creative associate for them. What do you all want to be and how did you get involved? |
Ever since a kid i've been into electronics, always pulling things to bits and putting them back together finding they don't work. Right now i take GNVQ ICT (3 GCSE's), Systems of Control (Electronics) and Art & Design Graphics (crap imo, wasted GCSE, would love to turn back the clocks.) Built my first computer at 12 and have been hooked ever since, because it's my hobbie aswell i think i'll enjoy working. Right now i'm working on a personal project, a customised PC case and water cooling loop, i'll show you all when i'm finished. I find it hard to concentrate and sleep because i'm always coming up with ideas, it's wierd.
I really don't mind what i do for a living, wether it's Web Design or Administration of some kind i'll be happy because i'm doing what i like :) Ever since a young age i've known what i want to do, i look now and am pleased i do. I'd hate to be making rash choices for work experience in March. Just hope i don't get sick... |
I wanna be a game graphics designer. If so then I'll probably start with smaller game companies like Lionhead
|
I would also like be a game designer, doing concept art. I'm doing my own concepts and art work at home, and I try to study. I do like designing creatures and biens, I take it seriosely. Aswell as doing graphics on the computer.
|
Right now I'm studying AS level biology, geography, maths and further maths as well as Stage 1 BSL. I don't know what I want to do in the future. I used to think that game designer or programmer was the job for me, but then I realised those would be ill-suiting. Currently I'm thinking I could only have proper job satisfaction if I did something along the lines of conservation work, aid and relief, community service or left-wing activist (although I'm not sure that last one is a livlihood :p).
Having said that, I will be applying for a job as a waiter some time soon. |
For all of elementary school and about half of middle school, I just knew I wanted to be a scientist. It didn't matter what kind. I loved every form of science I had ever come across. Then I started thinking "marine biologist" after watching the Discovery Channel for a while and seeing the kind of work they do.
Now I'm not sure at all. I might like to be a cartoon voice actor, or a marine biologist, or, having just reread about half of The River Why, I might like to learn how to fish and hunt and whatnot and just live as a sort of woodsman. My problem comes from the fact that when I was at the age where people expect one to be interested only in sports and cars, explosions, running around outside, quote-unquote "cool things"-- all the things that make a healthy childhood, basically-- I was interested in books, pure science, and other such nonsense. Now I pay for it by having no hobbies, no true interests or passions other than the written word. I don't know what I'm going to do with my life and this depresses me to the point where I consider just dropping out of school and finding some wilderness to live in. |
I'm thinking about studying nursing then applying to become a doctor.
|
I think you should be a marine biologist, Raisin. Then we could possibly work together someday for that is what I want to be. :) Always have, always will. Well, actually, I didn't know the term for that sort of scientist until I was in sixth grade. I remember reading an article in some geeky science magazine I read about a guy who was a marine biologist.
Recently, I've become interested in things like psychology and sociology, though. I'm considering minoring in it when I go to college. |
When I was younger I wanted to be astronaut or a scientist of some kind. As I get older, the science got narrowed down more into stuff involving theoretical astronomy or physics. Those things just fascinate me.
When I started getting involved with music in middle school (through band) I kinda thought about becoming a band director. I don't think I could live the life I want to live doing that, though, so I put that out of my head. More realistically, though, with the goals that I want in life I think I want to go into business administration and eventually become an entrepeneur (sp?). Leaership position... flexibility (somewhat) in what you get to do... and, if you're successful, money. Call me greedy, but I want to make a lot of money. Retiring early and having fun with the rest of my life sounds like a great plan to me - even if I have to work my ass off for a while to achieve that. When I go to college I'll probably major in business administration and possibly minor in music education or music theory - or maybe double-major. If I go the business route I'll probably work for a few years after I get my degree then go back and get my postgraduate (MBA). That's the idea anyway... |
Game Designer. Big or small company, I don't care. It's just something that I've wanted to do ever since I was a wee lad.
Barring that, some sort of 3-D animator. I also want to publish a few comics on the side, although I don't want it to be a major source of income. Having your work published is satisfaction enough. |
Game designer, maybe a concept artist. I've heard they don't get paid much though.

During my examinations, I thought of studying biology, music, language or art.
After the examinations, I had an interview at a school in Worms. I thought I could apply for an apprenticeship as foreign language correspondence clerk. From that day on, I was a new student at that school in Worms. But I couldn't go. All of my friends in Leipzig were so sad about my decision, that a applied for an apprenticeship as graphic designer. After the first interview there, I had to do a qualifying examination. I remember that day. It was 39 degrees, the room at school was horribly warmed up, 45 people made this examination. It was horrible. I had to explain marketing and to draw and paint three huge pictures. The examination took me 6 hours. Now, I'm studying graphic design. ...and it's sometimes very stressful..... |
I'm halfway through a degree in robotics. Actually the full title is Batchelor of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics)/Batchelor of Applied Science (Computer Science and Software Engineering). That's two simultaneous degrees in case you didn't work that out.
However, I have no idea what I actually want to do with my life. I did want to be a game programmer but I guess the EA Spouse ruckus got to me because I've gone off that lately. |
Well with me I am pretty much almost there one semester to go and I will be a full fledge Illustrator hence concept artist.
Ever since fifth grade I have always wanted to be a concept artist like Hunts Rudy Giger and his paintings for Alien and many other artist who work in films. I remember it very well my friends back then loved to draw and I already knew I was into Sci-fi and fantasy and video games and stuff and well when I saw the Book "The Star Wars Universe and saw all those paintings by Ralph Mcquarie I was hooked. I said to myself "thats what I want to do!" and ever since I became an awesome illustrator and now I am on the verge of getting dagree in college in illustration. I pretty much taught myself to get very talented so with me I am looking to start my very own Illustration firm and business and begin my own lagacy in the history of the applied arts. Notice my banner my company's name is called (Studio All Starz LTD.) and it is spelled with a Z I did it on purpose for no apparent reason just thought it was unique. So yes I am going to be an illustrator hence concept artist. |
I want to go to a nice art school in College, then apply for a job at Marvel comics. THAT would be my ideal job.
|
I want to be a miner or mine engineer.
Seriously. |
I want to do something with music. Primarily, I would love for my band to become big, even just in New Zealand, which is no where near as hard as in America, or if that doesn't work out, then I want to start my own band where I would have absolute creative control, like Dave Mustaine in Megadeth.
Failing the first, I will end up going to university and studying music, where my second plan can take place, or I will go for a third option and become a composer of some sort. |
I want to work as an Archaeologist. Something along those lines anyway. I also thought about studying to work as an Egyptologist, but they are quite rare. Failing that, I want to be an author. :p
|
Train spotter ;)
Nah... any of the following: -Alive -Artist -Concept Artist/ Designer -Game Designer -Graphic Artist |
I want to be someone who helps other people. Seriously. So i'm going to be... A Porn Star!
|
Current I am studying at School: Studies of Religion (1 Unit, unfortunately), Mathematics, English (Advanced), Physics, Chemistry, Geography, and Software Design.
I hope to get into the field of psychology. More directly, I'll probably end up in either in Army or Navy as a psychologist in uniform. I don't know which one to choose though, I like the Army because it is very hands on, but I like the Navy because I'd travel the world. Not too mention that the defence force is full of whack-jobs, and I'd never live a dull moment ;) Alcar... |
Currently enrolled in the Los Angeles School of Make-Up Designory and 'majoring' in Special Effects and Character Make-up.
I hope to be a special FX make-up artist for film and television. |
I would like to be a translator. But if that's not working, I can imagine myself working with computers. My machine always gives me some kind of trouble, so I have to fix it, often with success. :D
|
For now I'm still at school. Studies of maths, english, sport (beuuuh... -_-), history and geography (sigh...), biology, physics, chemistry, german, and philosophy (berk !).
I'd like to become something like an artist. I love creating. I need to create, to feel free, because I think creating is a way of expression that nobody can take away from us, like the thought, the mind. Drawing, painting, creating in 3D, sculpting, etc., this is what I'd like to do. Maybe just a dream... we'll see... |
Job/Studying

Cool, it looks like you all wanna go into really cool professions when you're older.
I remember when I was about 13, my brother and I were just walking down South Molton Street (Off of Oxford Street and leading to New Bond Street) and I saw a group of people hovering around a mannequin, pinning things up there, cutting things off here, and at the time I really enjoyed Textiles at high school, so I kind of always knew what I wanted to do, and once Zoe (the girl doing the apprenticeship at Prada) showed me the showroom and the prototypes and ensembles and all, I really wanted to do it then. |
Things that make me not want to get a Graphics Job is the fact most of my time would be in the USA so I'd barely see my family . But Lionhead is British is'nt it ?
|
There are a few games companies in britain. Lionhead has been helping start up lots more. Who knows what the industry will be like by the time you start looking for a job?
Or you could get a job in the movie industry or anything else that needs graphic designers. |
I want to be rich. Yes'ms. Prefarably by being in the Advertising Industry.
|
I want to change mine to entreproneur.
I win. \o/ |
