Check my new signature.. I found something really cool about Oddworld in the BIBLE..
I was in the library, bored, on my spare--and so I decided to read that terrible book, the bible...
And here is an interesting passage I found, where Lorne, no doubt, found some inspiration when creating Oddworld.... |
Hehe, funny. In fact, that was the least reference to the Bible you can find in Oddworld games (Nolybab, Magog, Exodus, the savior metaphor, just to point a few).

Yes, there are many connections with the Bible in Oddworld. *Scowls* *Through clenched jaw* And I DO wish you would not call the Bible terrible as there are some CHRISTIANS on this board.

somehow, i don't think sodd was 100% serious when he said it was terrible... i think what he meant was that no-one in their right mind would sit down with it and read it for pleasure... he wasn't commenting on the content, i don't think.

You dont like god? I do. Big difference. Odd is nothing. Oddworld is a game, and GOD knows I love it, but "in Odd we trust" and stuff like that, I don't pay much attention to. |
I love god too and I don't pay attention to that neither. Oddworld is just a game. Even though that maybe true that Lorne got some ideas from it, but oddworld and the bible are not that much related.

I have to say I agree with Rettick on this one. I honestly can't see how people have come to the conslusion that Sodd was trying to flame Christians. I know that it's hard to interpret tone when reading text on a computer, but I didn't find anything offensive in Sodd's first post. Besides, the Holy Bible does contain a lot of terrible stories - that's not arguable, agreed with by Christians and non-Christians alike.
Now, getting back on topic, I think the signature is hillarious. There's an obvious comparison to Oddworld, it's pretty funny.  |
The bible did had some gross and bloody stories, but they are not terrible like that.

Well, I think you should find the definition of "terrible" before you say that. But that wasn't my point, I don't think Sodd was being intentionally malicious. So Jumping him was little premature.

True, there are a lot of bad stories in the Bible, like there's this one story when to girls get their father drunk and have sex with him. But I noticed while playing the game Abe freeing the other Mudokons is similar to Moses saving the Hebrews.

I'm just upset at the way this world is going... And sometimes I place blame on religeon... And then we cause mass extinction of all that is truely beautiful--nature... I don't believe in god what-so-ever. It's all evolution in my eyes. I read the bible for pleasure, and for a daily reference. I find it interesting. I'm still learning about the scriptures. |

taking parts of the bible to put into stories is ok but comparing a mudokon to the beloved christ in the crucifiction will terminate my way of oddworld immediatly. |
