The Ultimate Zombie Thread!
Discuss the ultimateness that is the zombie. Rob Zombie, White Zombie, Zombiethon, Evil Dead, THOTD, Bournemouth, and any movie from Dawn of the Dead, to Shawn of the Dead. :dead:

Okay. First up.
Is it actually possible for Zombies (any theory from any movie or game is welcome) to exist? |
:
|
Shaun of the Dead was hilarious. I mean, probably one of the best movies I've seen this year (although I have a terrible memory, so meh). They really did a good job of blending Brit humor, slapstick, drama, and ZOMBEEES together without the movie becoming too... awkward.
It was so much better than any mainstream American comedy swill that we got this year. It's nice to see a movie using clever humor for a change instead of "HE GOT HIT IN THE GROIN!!! HAHAHA!!!" |
There are some rumored WitchDoctor chemicals that can reanimate a dead body.
|
:
I suppose it could be possible to re-animate dead tissue, but I feel it is highly unlikely that said, "zombies," would actually be able to endulge in such activities as depicted in movies and games... |

Zombies. . . Okay, Dawn of the Dead zombies were kinda typical. You know, walking dead, always after humans, shuffle slowly around (most of the time) and make moaning noises. Created by 'something in the blood'. Get bitten, you die and turn into one. Nothing really that interesting or original about them. But then it wasn't really a good movie. . . A little too typical. :P And why did they spent most of thier time in a mall? Shaun of the Dead's zombies were the same thing, being a rip-off of Dawn of the Dead. . . Except they were much funnier and therefore much better. :) Better movie. And I loved the way they found ways to use the walking dead at the end of the movie. :P There were parts of Shaun that were nicely done, too. Like this below: http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/darkhood/files/ShaunFlickChannels.wav 28 days later's zombies were a lot more interesting. Except they technically weren't zombies, since they were living people who had been infected with a virus transmitted in blood and siliva called 'rage', which caused them to go into a non-stop killing frenzy, and vomit blood everywhere. The thing about them was the fact that everyone waited for them to starve to death. But the problem with that is they couldn't drink anything, yet they were vomiting blood everywhere AND kept moving really fast. Wouldn't they have de-hydrated very quickley? But then if it was like that, it wouldn't of made a good movie, so there you go. :P Doom 3's zombies. . . Now they were what I'd call typical walking dead. :P Hell invades a research base on Mars, everyone gets turned into zombies as thier souls get stolen. Hmmm, nice. What I don't get is that non-security personell were the slow, shuffling lashing-out-with-hands type (some with no heads), while the security personell (people with guns) were all fast, talked in Romeric (or some other ancient language), and could roll around, shoot you with thier weapons and take cover behind boxes and stuff as if they were normal humans. There is a particually weird scene in Doom 3 where you can listen to some physicatric(SP) doctors trying to interview a guy who is slowly turning into a zombie. Kinda disturbing. o.o Anyway, I know this is fanboyish, but the most original zombies I've seen have to be from Half-Life 1/Half-Life 2. Headcrabbed humans. Okay, Headcrabs are parasitic alien creatures that invaded Earth with loads of other aliens when Freeman (The character you play in Half-Life 1/2) accidently opened up a portal to a borderworld called Xen. http://www.planethalflife.com/half-l...s/headcrab.jpg They latch onto thier human hosts, changing thier DNA structure, taking over thier central nervous system, and mutating them so their hands and arms become long, red, with sharp spikes, and then since they can't eat anything through thier mouths, a slit appears down the center of thier chests with teeth and stuff. :S Zombie in HL1: http://www.planethalflife.com/nostal...ork/zombie.jpg Half-Life 2 enemies: http://www.hlfallout.net/view.php/hl2info/enemies.php The thing is, thier human hosts remain alive during this process, put into some kind of sub-concious state where all they can hear is thier own screaming, blinded and controlled by the headcrab stuck to thier heads. And they feel pain. (HL2 Burning zombie: Uncencored. "GOD HELP ME!!!" part reversed): http://www.angelfire.com/wa3/darkhood/files/hl2zombiegodhelpme2.wav Perhaps THE zombie growl of the century? I've played the game twice and listened to them scream as I burn them, but they still disturb me. Of course there is a lot more then Half-Life zombies then I've said here, and a lot of speculation behind them, but I think this post is long enough. :P And I'm tired. - DH |
Zombie's are clearly the best things ever. I mean wow. Half rotted flesh coming back to life in an impossible way to create something that can apparently run as fast as fully functioning live human flesh. Wow.
If zombie's attacked me I would attack them with my pointy stick. They'd have no idea what was coming. I shall now recreate it from the half rotted mind of a zombie: "Ah, a tasty hobo. God. I want his cider. I shall now stumble over there. Well. That was easy. Now i have to bite his face off. OW! Fucking hell! there's a bloody great stick sticking out of my brain. It doesn't matter that it's already been half rotted and eaten a little more damage is killing me. Aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeee!" |
Guns Guns GUNS!
I'd use a L85A2, they will be very easy to find in England, its our Armys standard issue, so ammo will be easy to find at blockades. Despite what people think, it is a very accurate gun. For Secondary i'll take a Browning HP 9mm, this gun takes the term "Blowing your brains out" litterally. They are very common in British Armouries, and well worth a look for. EDIT: Good point CJ, but I had just watched 28 Days Later:p |
Fez. Seriously. No one else cares:p

Whats all this about a zombie baby? What happens in that scene?
|
In Dead Alive, a zombie baby is bashed upon a tree. Or something like that. I haven't seen it in... gee, I guess it was a two or three summers ago.
|
No, in the remake of Dawn Of The Dead. Was there a zombie baby?
|
Yes, there was, and it was disgusting. Seriously. Urgh...
|
Seeing as I tend to avoid horror films (yeah I know, I'm a pussy) I can't really comment on most of the above. But my favourite zombie would have to be Windle Poons from Reaper Man.
|
My favourite zombies would be those prostitutes in Resident Evil: Apocaplyse, and your pitiful machine guns would do nothing against nemisis.
