A Reminder on Swearing, Flaming, Spam, etc
 

Arriving after five days of absence, it is obvious from the abundant swearing, flaming, and spamming in many threads that these issues are starting to creep up on us again. What's more disturbing is that it pops up in the most peaceful of threads, over the slightest things.

I don't want to go all Nazi on your asses once again (though it would be enjoyable), so I'd rather give you the respect to sort things out yourselves, and tone it down.

Mmm, GD and the Spoiler Forum are cosy. I haven't been into Off-Topic for about a week. If I'd have known we would be missing a smod, I'd have been more vigilant down there.

But he didn't need speech marks! It was the most justified argument in the world!

It is popping up primarily in Forum Suggestions & Feedback, Welcomes & Birthdays, and Off-Topic Discussion. Apart from a bit of spamming in General Oddworld Discussion and all other forums, it's pretty good overall. I just wish people wouldn't swear so much, or start flamming wars.

Sounds like you need to extend the powers of one or two of the mods to the FS&H and Welcomes & Birthdays forums, since only you and Abe Babe can moderate them. I've seen nothing of Abe Babe so far, so I presume she isn't on often, and I know that you've just come back from a 5 day leave. If both of you are away at the same time then you're pretty ****ed really.

If the Oddworld Forums were more active, employing more staff members would be a reality. But things are generally fine, the spam / flamming / excessive swearing have been slowly creeping up again, it was just more prominent when I returned from my absence. As for Welcomes & Birthdays, the Off-Topic Discussion moderators have control over it as well, being a sub-forum and all.

All it needs is a reminder, though if it gets worse, I'll just go Nazi again ;)

Heh... I haven't really noticed many people swearing (besides me, of course, but that's just business as usual) in OT. I'll keep a look out, I suppose. Oh, and I'll watch the potty mouth.

Hmm... I don't there's any spamming really... But flaming is another thing. People flame each other for nothing... Maybe it's becouse we are bored or something.....

*Looks all innocent and pretends that she hasn't contributed to some of the spamming*... Hee, I really appreciate how clean these forums are compared to some of them out there as far as spamming and stuff goes. The flames around here are almost enjoyable, at least the ones that I've read in the past. It annoys me when they get too pointless though, and people forget that remaining respectful and having a sensable argument/debate is an option.
