People's illusions

I don't mean any disrispect for yamaha here but who else thought that the yamaha EZ-AG electric guitar was a rip-off and the slogans people put on the instruments (and any other thing related) like 'it's quick and easy' or 'musical genius in an instant' aren't these putting across the point of 'if you pick this guitar up you are going to be the best at it straight away'

Facsimile 12-11-2004 12:21 AM

This is a pretty stupid topic. Most people don't even know what you're talking about.

Rincewynd 12-11-2004 06:36 AM

I take it that you don't know what a yamaha EZ-AG is do you? You must have very little spare time.

P.S: if you don't understand what I am saying you must have the understanding of a shoe.
P.P.S: not patronising you in any way (well, I wasn't trying to. I may have done slightly).

Yamaha Guitars are not rip-offs, you just need to know how to play one to make it sound good.
The slogans people make to sell the instrument is just to get it off the shelfs.

Mojo 12-11-2004 09:30 AM

If you're used to play on a certain guitar, and you play on a different one, you have to get used to it. If you're used to a Tremolo System, it's hard to play on a hard tail. And Vice Versa. The same goes for brands. A Yamaha is way different than an Ibanez.

Oh, the Ibanez S 470 RULES!

Fez 12-11-2004 09:47 AM

No idea.

I got a Stagg Bass BC-302, it rocks.

Facsimile 12-11-2004 11:01 PM

I'm assuming it's a guitar of some sort, but the thing is:
1. Only a few people here play guitar, so this topic won't mean a lot to many people.
2. I play bass.
3. I don't know what every guitar in the universe is.
4. Yamaha is not a popular brand of guitar over, so unpopular infact, that I've never seen one. And I've seen a few of guitars.
5. Spare time? What's that supposed to mean? Am I meant to spend every last second of my spare time looking up guitars I've never heard about? What kind of dumbassed statement is that?
Dick.

Rincewynd 12-12-2004 09:40 AM

1. It's for people who play guitars.
2. Me too, and your point
3. What has that got to do with it
4. Why did you bother replying
5. Spare time is when you don't have anything to do. If you don't have shopping channels look at question4.

And Munchman, playing the electirc guitar EZ-AG doesn't tell you what happens if a guitar string snaps because it never does on those, and I know about the slogans but it is still making the kids think of great guitar playing from the start.

So put it into the topic title.

1. Then 'People's Illusions' isn't the best title for the thread.
2. My point is, I play bass, not guitar, so I don't know about guitars.
3. "What has that got to with it"? What?! You said about me not knowing about this guitar because I have little spare time, and I said it was because I don't know every single guitar.
4. Read my first post.
5. I know what spare time is, you're the one that brought it up when it didn't even make sense.

I am really beginning to hate you.

T-nex 12-12-2004 10:45 PM

Umm.... Shouldn't you guys calm down? *everybody stares at T-nex*

1. I made my point in my first post of why I gave the title
2. So what if you play bass, I only play bass aswell but I know about guitars
3. So, you don't know about guitars because you have very little spare time. And you're telling me I don't make sense!
4. Yes, I read it. It didn't relate to question 4 but I read it
5. What is not to understand when i say 'you must have very little spare time'? And well done on understanding what spare time means :P . And besides you're the one that asked what spare time is supposed to mean.

Fez 12-13-2004 09:19 AM

Your a twat.

Rich 12-13-2004 09:23 AM

You're not supposed to be nitpicking each others posts.
The thread title is utter drivel when related to the subject of guitars.
I play guitar and bass. My guitar is good but my Bass is shite as it's made by Yamaha.

Rincewynd 12-13-2004 10:49 AM

Oh this is a good forum. You try to be sensior to people even if you are arguing and you get a mouth full of fcuking abuse.

Smell 12-13-2004 10:55 AM

If you don't like that then your in the wrong place

Oh, the Ibanez S 470 RULES!

I've got an Ibanez AX120AB in the rare Antique Bronze finish. Such a cool guitar, I'd never buy any other guitar now I've got my AX.

EDIT: Nevermind, everyone's being tosswads.

Mojo 12-14-2004 07:02 AM

Well, I have tried several guitars when I purchased it, including one of Yamaha (which played pretty gooed btw), a Dean Phantom (but it just was too heavy), and a Ibanez RG (dunno which one). I just loved the S470, it was Ultra slim, and it came in a neat, Limited Edition, laque-less, varnished edition. With Jumbo Frets. It playes like heaven.

hey i aint being a tosswad.

And i have seen that guitar and it is very nice, personally I am not a fan of siny guitars but I still think it looks cool.

Rex Tirano 12-14-2004 12:14 PM

:| Right. Everyone calm down. Lets have no flaming.

Maybe a new thread is in order... One about Guitars for people who like guitars. With no flaming or bad feelings or anything.

Alcar! Make this go away!

Facsimile 12-15-2004 12:13 AM

I think it's over, Rex...

The S series Ibanez guitars are nice. They're probably the most popular among heavy metal bands. Certainly Slipknots' guitarists have a fair few.

Does your guitar have a matt finish on the neck? Cause I found the matt finish of the neck on my guitar greatly improved the ease with which the guitar could be played compared to all the other guitars I've had.

Mojo 12-15-2004 08:28 AM

Yeah it has. It gives better grip than my friends RG. Plus, he has .10 strings, and I have .09. Helluva lot better.

Heh, that reminds me.

He was on a holiday once, when he met an American guy with a guitar. He asked if he could play it. He could. But then he broke a string. The "G".
So he kept saying: "Let me buy you a new G-string!"
And all the other guys were laughing, and HE didn't get it. Only a few months later, he told me about it, and THEN he finally got it! G-string, as in undies.

Fez 12-15-2004 09:16 AM

Funny:p I've used that joke to much:p

What for? I just used Slipknot as an example. Are they really so controversial? :p

Facsimile 12-17-2004 12:27 AM

Controversial?
Wouldn't have a clue.

Metal?
No.

Crap?
Yes.
