Abe died in AO?

Didn´t Abe die in AO? When he dropped down the bay. Then came Big Face and said Abe was dead.
Huh?

Philian 10-17-2001 08:48 AM

Yeah but abe always somehow comesback in bird portals. or maybe he didn't you should really go to the main site and send an E-mail to dear alf.

ACTUALLY IN THE "REAL" STORY OF AO ABE ONLY DIES ONCE. WHEN HE FELL OFF THE CLIFF. ALL THOSE OTHER TIMES HE DIED WAS YOUR FAULT :) in the game i mean

Xavier 10-17-2001 01:59 PM

Yes Abe is death one time, but as usual he revives. Abe is a special immortal mudokon ?

One, Two, Middlesboogie 10-17-2001 04:46 PM

I assumed that BigFace brought him back to life.

Wil 10-17-2001 05:38 PM

Big Face most certainly did make Abe immortal - you can see him marking an ouroborus at Abe's feet in Abe's Oddysee.

For those that don't know, ouroborus is a sideways '8', and it means infinity.

hé yeah, your right... Maybe, but Abe was allredy immortal in RuptureFarms and in the Stokyards

PinkHaired Mudokon CWR 10-17-2001 06:00 PM

Um Duh, where have you been?

RoN_Rancor 10-17-2001 08:21 PM

I disagree, I don't think that bigface made him immortal...I think that bigface healed him from being near death and abe had an out-of-body near-death experience that showed him free scrabs and paramites. The reason it said that he was dead was probably used because it was more poetic and fit in nicely with the mythic feal of Abe's Oddysee. It sounds a lot better than saying "I slipped down a cliff, and smashed my head. Then I met a bigface who said that I was really hurt and close to being dead so he healed me up" See how saying dead sounds better? Oh, and on the infinity mark thingie, I think that that represents life (in general) continuing, not Abe living forever. Oh well, just a thought. I could very easily be wrong.

I think in future Oddworld games they should have a death counter. That'd be funny to know how many times you did miss that die.

Danny 10-18-2001 06:37 PM

i didn't know the symbol was called that. i knew the sideways 8 meant infinity, but i thought the ouroboros was the snake thing [ah well, that's what comes of watching too much red dwarf... :D]

MunkyRS 10-19-2001 11:14 PM

hey! when did this all happend the 8 on his foot and big face saying he was dead huh? were and when did this happen please explain

Yeah, I've seen that Rd episode; I know what you mean. But just to nitpick, the snake thing was actaully called the 'Wyverouroborus' (Wyvern + Ouroboros), and it held its tail in its mouth and continually circled the Earth. I presume the RD scriptwriters thought the name Ouroboros sounded better and coupled better with the idea of Lister's infinity. A snake also has more appeal as an animal than a sideways 8.

Wil 10-20-2001 09:39 AM

From what I remember of the episode, the snake formed the sideways-8. This gives me the impression that maybe long ago that's where the ouroborus symbol comes from. But, then again, maybe Doug Naylor was just making it up.

One, Two, Middlesboogie 10-20-2001 10:35 AM

I remember the snake as being in a circle shape. Weird that.

tybie_odd 10-20-2001 11:43 PM

Interesting! I never really took actual death into thinking. I always asumed Big Face just THOUGHT Abe was dead--and since Abe doesn't get up till AFTER BF leaves, it could explain his notion. However, I just thought Abe was in great pain and didn't want to move for awhile.

I noticed the infinity mark (I didn't realise it had such a cool name, though!) and thought BF was contemplating what would happen if RuptureFarms continued as it had been, for the rest of eternity! So BF tells Abe to shut it down.

Where's dear Alf? we need a Mud's opinion!

MunkyRS,

It's in Abe's Oddysee, just after escaping the Stockyards and before reaching Monsaic Lines. You can view FMV (movie) files (on PC version) by pressing: SHIFT + up, right, left, right, left, right, left, down. Do this after Abe says "hello" at the start up.

I've heard that that cheat works but I've only tried it on AE, not AO.

Danny 10-21-2001 01:58 AM

the snake was in a circle. trust me, i have watched it toooooooo many times...

probably the reason they didn't call it wyveroboros was so they could have the 'Our Rob or Ross' joke...

freakyLA 10-23-2001 11:28 AM

What`? Snake, red dwarves? What are you all talking about!

Andrea 12-06-2001 09:11 PM

You've got to save 50 mudokons or more to avoid the bad ending. I'm not good at saving the mudokons because I kill them in the place where there's two meat saws running erratically.

Hehe, yeah that would be cool. I'd probably overload the counter and break the game, though.

Oddness 12-07-2001 02:42 AM

I always assumed that that was meant to be the only time that he died in the game, and Bigface brought him back to life. I saw the infinity sign but never thought that he was being made immortal...

rtidrow 12-07-2001 04:28 AM

just my two cents.....
it says...'I fell and cracked my head...and big face said I was dead.....
He was definately dead and then resurrected, and each time he dies in the game he is resurrected by the spirits.

paramiteabe 12-07-2001 11:10 AM

I think all Muds are imortal. There is resurrection totems in Munch.

Lantra 12-07-2001 11:02 PM

abe die and then big face brought him back to life. i nver really clicked about the oruboras thins though thanx for the tip max.

General Drippik 12-08-2001 04:17 AM

No, not all muds are immortal. If they were, it would be practically impossible to lose the game. Mud gets shot, comes back alive/casualty meter goes up, casualty meter goes down.
