Make-up and costume designs:
:

First, my roommate put two layers of plaster gauze strips on my face
and the top of my head(I used plastic wrap to prevent it getting
stuck to me, and a shower cap, leaving the nostrils and eyeholes
uncovered. When it dried, I could remove it, and had a base for the
rest of the mask that would fit snugly.

Then, I put a layer of paper mache over it, to build it up. This I
don't think was entirely necessary, looking back on it, but it
smoothed out some of the plaster lumps, and is lighter than plaster.

for the eyes, I used some cotton stuffing wrapped in plastic(but you
can use any round object) and formed clay around them, leaving the
stuffing in there to stop the eyeball from sagging. It sits just
outside of my real eye, so that I could use the wrinkles to sort of
hide that. I used clay to form the shape I wanted for the face (my
nostrils are inside the mouth) and smooth the head out. I also
added clay ears.

Then I painted it with acrylic, two layers, and added details and
fixed some things I didn't like about the mask.

For the ponytail, I cut out the pattern in fabric and stitched it
shut, then turned it inside-out and stuffed it. Sharpies worked
well for coloring, but do it somewhere ventilated... yikes.

Glue it on, plus stitches, and voila!

If required, I believe I possess Big Bro Sligspeak too, but maybe I'll let Dipstikk handle that particular talent.

I believe I may also possess some Glukkonspeak, but that is highly debatable.

Alcar 11-22-2004 11:44 PM

Woah, this is turning out to be quite a promising adventure. Can I ask what you'll be using to make the movie? And any estimates on how long the film will run for? Certainly sounds cool.

Alcar...

Fuzzle Guy 11-23-2004 04:10 AM

ODE will be running for about 70-90 minutes.
The editing package that I will be using to make the movie is Pinnacle Studio 9, and the film will be finished in late 2005

Abeguy 11-23-2004 01:00 PM

I do!
does that mean you do need a voice, or you already have one?

Oh my. Seventy to Ninety minutes? That's similar some proper films. Does this mean you'll be doing all the dialogue, choreography (etc) beforehand?

That's quite a lot of work to do. Hope it all goes well :fuzzle:

Major update

Hope you guys like it ,

Tim H C

Fuzzle Guy 11-24-2004 08:29 AM

You have such a kind headteacher Tim. My headteachers a moody old Bat, and wouldn't let us do half the stuff that you've done, my old Primary Headteacher probably would though.

Odd Trusting 11-24-2004 04:52 PM

Hey Odd trusting here. As soon as I saw this thread I darted right over. You see I did some movie work in CG for a while for fun and took a years worth of classes on it, wondering if I could help, I am also very good at doing Abe's chum's voices and an suprisingly great Vykker. This sounds like a bundle of fun to me and we could very well get published! YEEEHAWW!!!

Fuzzle Guy 11-25-2004 04:44 AM

Can you post some samples of your CG work please Odd Trusting.

Joe & Gramps will be making a special appearance in the film, as themselves, if you are unsure of whom Joe & Gramps are, then please read the following:

:

Joe & Gramps
Nathan Russell-Raby
Category: Comedy
Synopsis: Joe & Gramps is about two characters, Joe and Gramps. Joe is a radio DJ who has his own breakfast show. All that matters is his hair. (Actually it's fur, he's a camel.) He reads a poem to his friend Gramps, but will he hear it…

Joe & Gramps is a complete independent home production that I have made with the help of my family. How it all began...

Last year I was on holiday in Orlando, Florida, when I was walking down a small shopping centre, I saw many full body puppets sitting there. Two were particularly funny and gave me ideas for using them in some home movies. These were a 'Cool Camel' and the 'Grandpa', which I've named Joe & Gramps which are the title characters in my Joe & Gramps movie.

When I first heard about Young Filmmaker of Mann I decided to do Joe & Gramps straight away. I have made five home movies starring 'Joe & Gramps' and they have all been crime mysteries, the first one being the crime and the other four were the investigations. I chose not to do a mysteries format this time but decided to make it about a Radio DJ and his friend.

The film was recorded on a 12-year old Sony Handycam Video8 Camera, and transferred to a computer for editing. For ease of use, I chose Pinnacle Studio 9 software for all analogue video capture and editing purposes. The picture stills were captured on a Nikon Coolpix 2000, and edited through MS PowerPoint and transferred in JPEG format into Pinnacle.

External sound overtracks were recorded via a microphone and the standard sound card on the PC. The film was then transferred onto a DVD and then played into the VCR for transfer to VHS. The closing music was composed and played by my younger brother

And, because I made the delightful award winning film, the first of the Joe & Gramps series, I am not breaking any copyright laws: lol:

I have managed to get the voice of Gramps to come and do Oddworld Evolution. It will feel so strange doing a movie with the two people (Joe & Gramps) who started my filmmaking business, but it won’t be a Joe & Gramps film, it’ll be a bit depressing.
But in case you ever do get to see Oddworld Evolution , I cannot show you Joe & Gramps (At this moment in time), but I can show you the trailer, which can be found here: Joe & Gramps Trailer

Don’t worry, about the 12 year old camera I used to film it with, I used my prize money from the Young Filmmaker of Mann to buy a new digital Cannon Camera, but it’s not what kind it is, it’s how you use it, all though the quality may matter sometimes EG:

I spent three days on making a juice bottle for Joe & Gramps, but due to the quality of the camera, it never showed up :fuzsad:

STEVEN SPIELBERG might make a special guest appearance as himself, where the aliens must persuade him to offer one of the evil aliens a part in the War of the Worlds film that he is currently under production with at the moment, so that the good aliens have an easy target to kill her whiles she is being filmed.

Nepharski 11-25-2004 11:34 AM

My good Fuzzle Guy...will I be in need of a script of some sort?

Fuzzle Guy 11-26-2004 12:16 AM

Of cause, I will send your lines to you soon
