Salads are repulsive! Eat fruit and veggies!

In the cafeteria I have to clean up a lot of salad bowls and throw out literally gallons of salad dressing and it is the SMELLIEST and FOULEST thing I'd ever done and I cleaned out cow crap for hours at farms last year! Why do people like salads and salad dressing? Salads can't hold a candle to raw fruit or veggies in my opinion. It's all natural and it actually smells good. Orange oil and juice=all-natural deodorant as far as I'm concerned. On the other hand, salad dressing smells rank and I don't care what type it is, it all reeks. Plus, how good can all of that oily gunk be for somebody anyhow?

OANST 11-19-2004 12:50 PM

I can't use dressing on salads. It's disgusting to me. I do like them without, however.

Cyber-Slig 11-19-2004 02:26 PM

I put salad cream or river island on mine . But dressing with herbs give me the boke (sickness) .

I agree, I never eat salads, just the raw stuff.

oddguy 11-19-2004 02:52 PM

I know people who drench their salads in dressing, and I just don't like my salad that way. I add a minimal amount and enjoy it that way. The same goes for pancakes and syrup.

I really enjoy making my own Taco Salad. Lettuce, ground or shredded beef, crumbled tortilla chips, shredded cheese and freshly made salsa. Yum!

Ranch dressing is a gift from the gods, you heathens.

TheRaisin 11-20-2004 06:34 PM

Dressing should be used in regulated, quite small portions.

Taco salad kicks ass.

Taco salad kicks ass.

Especially when you make your own salsa. ;)

Amen.

Then again, not even ranch can hold up against plums.

Plums = God's material representation of love for me.

I can't stand a finely chopped salad drowning in dressing. I like something big and chunky so that I can pick out only the veggies I like.

I think that this may count as my most pointless post in the most pointless thread EVER!

bleugh! salad! I do not eat salads, or a lot of fruit or vegetables. Man, I must be unhealthy

Nate 11-22-2004 12:52 PM

That reminds me of a distant cousin I have who has a phobia of fresh fruit and veggies. If you are even in the same room as him and eating a banana he will feel nauseous and have to leave.

Al the Glukkon 11-22-2004 12:58 PM

That's strange.
I like Bannanas and apples.

Nate 11-22-2004 01:06 PM

is that a euphemism?

TheRaisin 11-22-2004 01:54 PM

There is still such a thing as scurvy. My mom told me about hitching a ride with this trucker back in the seventies who kept talking about how he'd gotten scurvy eating nothing but McDonald's food. Weird, eh?

OANST 11-22-2004 04:02 PM

Ranch is disgusting. I used to have to make it and I swear to GOD you do not want to know how you make that crap.

SeaRex 11-22-2004 05:34 PM

I like a salad every now and then. The more dressing, the better. Drench that bitch with blue cheese, ranch, or honey mustard... that's some mighty fine stuff.

Just a small part of my plan to make Statikk's life miserable.

I do like plain fruit, though. Especially bananas, but also green apples and plums (while they're still firm and sour). Good stuff.

Al the Glukkon 11-22-2004 05:41 PM

No it is not.

Also like cantelope and corn.

Alcar 11-22-2004 10:35 PM

Is it just me, or does salad mean something else to everyone else? As far as I was brought up, a salad is a mixture of different vegetables, sometimes, very rarely, fruit. But you all seem to be talking about salad dressing. Which I can't say I've ever eaten in substantial quantities.

As it is, my Mother has a salad that accompanies every Dinner meal we have. Usually it is lettuce, cabage, tomatoes, cucumber and potatoes. And then there will be others that appear on random, like celery, radish, capsicum, corn, peas, beans, cauliflower, and turnip. Though we never have a salad dressing. And I usually don't eat some of them :p

To me, salad consists of lettuce, carrot, tomato, cress and other bits and bobs mixed up in a bowl. I take vitamin tablets :)

Esus 11-23-2004 09:19 AM

yeah, kinda what smell said. Except carrot is a vegetable.

All vegetables. Well, in my eyes.

:S Is tomato a fruit or vegetable?

Nate 11-23-2004 01:15 PM

The definition of fruit is a seed pod. The plant produces a flower, which gets fertilised and then becomes a fruit. Thus tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins and corn are all officially fruit.

The definition of vegetable seems to vary a lot more with everyones opinions. Its possible that there may be some overlap for some people.

Potato in a salad? Is is at least cooked?

I once checked out the ingredients list for Ranch dressing. Didn't eat it for a couple of days after reading "Egg yolk".

Al the Glukkon 11-23-2004 05:36 PM

I didn't know that. Good thing I hate Ranch. And salads.

TheRaisin 11-23-2004 08:16 PM

Thank god I swore off ranch a while ago, trading it in for oil and vinegar. Although just today I learned how fattening oil and vinegar dressing is, so it looks like I'm no longer a proponent of salad dressing.

I HAYAVE CONVERTED! I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT! SALAD DRESSIN' IS THUH DEVUL!

It is boiled in the jacket, as the jargon goes :p Mum is a busy woman, my brother and I only eat my vegetables cold, where as everyone else eats them cooked. So there is often a mixed array of vegetables. I just find that cold, uncooked vegetables retain more chilled water, and taste fresher.
