I want to have a sex change and bear Tim Schafer's children

Firstly I should point out that I'm as excited about OW:Stranger (or whatever they're calling it these days) as anyone. That hasn't changed at all. However, as of yesterday, I am officially and legally even more excited about Psychonauts.

For anyone who doesn't know what I'm talking about, it's the next game from Tim Schafer, who designed Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle and Grim Fandango. It's more of an action game than those, but still with adventure elements. The basic plot is that you control Raz, a boy training to be a psychic warrior, or Psychonaut, who can actually jump into people's minds and fight their demons.

The game looks pretty amazing, very stylish and damn funny too. I actually cracked up laughing more than once when watching some gameplay footage.

Some handy links:

www.doublefine.com - the webpage of Tim Schafer's company. Read the news archives, written by Tim himself. They're wonderfully uninformative and humourous.

some videos:

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/554/554438p1.html
http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/...w_6109729.html

there is some repetition between those sites. Gamespy has the best bunch of vids, particularly the one called "Tackiness Dies Hard".
Gamespot also has a cracker of an opening FMV.

Tim Schafer, eh?

He rules.

I commend your enthusiasm, even if I am somewhat disturbed by your...choice of action.

Psychonauts! I've been waiting for that game forever! Seriously, it said on the XBox site that it would be out by November of last year. Is it coming out anytime soon?

I also wonder who does the voice of Raz. I'm almost certain it's Richard Horvitz, the voice of Invader Zim and Daggett of The Angry Beavers, among others. It would be, to my knowledge, a new medium for Horvitz, but I've never been wrong before about a role he's done.

Maybe I should actually check out these sites then, eh?

Raisin, you're right, it is Mr Horvitz. However, he also did various voices for King's Quest VIII: Mask of Eternity.

I've read about this game, and it's something I'd love to get into. Sadly I have little time for games (sad, huh?), so have never even been able to get into Halo or even GTA3. I'll try my best, though.

Its coming out early next year.

Silly me forgot to give the link to the official game site:

I once promised the same thing to Lorne Lanning but another forumer (can't remember who) told me that I'd have to fight him for the honour. This way, we're all happy. Especially Tim. And the babies.

OH YEAH! I am like ten for ten or something in the Guess What Voices Richard Horvitz Does Game. His voice remains almost completely the same for any character he does.

W00t w00t, I can not wait for Psychonauts. It seems there was a long period of time after 9-11 in which practically every game coming out was either a gory Middle Eastern war game or some kind of spy/counter-terrorism game. I'm glad that trend is finally dying, and we've started to see some really excellent, deep, different games come out again in the past months. Huzzah for Tim Schafer!

CURSE YOU!

After viewing the sites, I have filled my existance with dreams of how insideously cool this game will be, and cannot stand still long enough for it to arise from the studios of Tim Schafer! Now it will be even harder to concentrate upon subjects of importance. Confound it, now I'll never get anything done!

... My work here is done.
