Best Rock Band In The World

Yup, I remembered.

I'm voting for Muse because I really think they are the greatest rock band ever. The talent the band has is massive.

Matt (lead) is amazing on his guitar, hes even has had nominations for Guitar God 2003 but guitar isnt even his main instrument! He has been playing Piano for most of his life and it shows.

Chris (Bass) the bassist of the band it amazing on bass, playing riffs like Hysteria, Futurism and New Born with no real effort. He played drums long before bass, so is good on drums.

Dom (Drums) He was playing lead guitar at one point. Plays drums well now, as well as abit of synth and most percussion.

The Nominating Songs:

Time Is Running Out - Lovely synth bass riff, amazing song.

Butterflies & Hurricanes - and epic song, heavy guitar riff's slowing in to quiet solo piano work then finishing off with the guitars, genious, 'nuff said.

??? - This new song has only been played a few times, i love the new sound of it, it has a very "End of the world" feel to it, the future is bright for Muse.

Now you lot dont have to say all that about your vote, but it would be cool to find out about other bands so people can see into different tastes.

dripik 11-13-2004 12:43 PM

Well, I only know one of these bands, and that one is Anthrax. I only know one of their songs, and it's real good. The song is from the '80s, called Madhouse. If you play Vice City, you can hear it on VROCK.

I always keep turning up at Vice City. I played to much with it.

You bugger it's between the Ramones (PT Boat On The Way To Havanna), RHCP (Psychic Spies From China Try To Steal Your Minds Elation) and two of your missed out options of The Beatles (Strawberry Fields Forever) and Iron Maiden( Ruuuuuuuuuuun To The Hillllllllllllllls! Run For Your LIVES!)

So i think it'll be RHCP getting my vote, as you didn't include Iron Maiden.

I shall now, in my drunk state, sing all of their songs backwards..... *falls over*

Fez 11-13-2004 12:49 PM

Lmfao.

God I missed your comments.

Rex Tirano 11-13-2004 01:14 PM

First Placebo (The concert was amazing.)

Closely followed by Rammstein and Muse.

But have they left a legacy? A footprint in history? Songs that kids will still sit around humming 30 years from now? A few catchy hooks and good playing ability don't make a band the best. I would at least give the band a few more years, before even considering them for "Best Rock Band In The World." My bet is they'll fade from memory in the coming years, with a few more rehashed albums.

AquaticAmbi 11-13-2004 02:33 PM

Excellent insight, Majic.

Anyway, my vote is for The Ramones, of course.

Facsimile 11-15-2004 01:59 AM

Okay, Anthrax is definitely not rock, and I don't consider Rammstein to be either, but then I haven't heard their new album.
I don't think making a poll in this type of topic is very good. It's always going to be bias.

OANST 11-15-2004 01:33 PM

None of the above. It's either Modest Mouse or Radiohead.

Statikk HDM 11-18-2004 02:31 PM

Gee Facs, I didn't know that one of the most influential metal bands of the 80s, early 90s wasn't metal. What Majic said about legacy was completely correct because Anthrax have definately influenced more bands than any other group on the list. Rammstein, Garbage? Gimme a break! Spreading the Disease, Persistence of Time, and Among the Living are required reading as far as I'm concerned when it comes to metal. Beladonna-era Thrax is great. The vocals are superb and very unique, the riffing from Spitz and Ian is some of the tightest around and Benante was a MONSTER on drums.
And if a member of the Big 4 isn't metal what the hell does that make R.E.M.?

What the hell are you bitching at me for? I was directing that at ferill, you know how he made the thread and all? Calm down and get your 'Facs' straight.
Oh! A pun sort of thing. I like it. The summary of that last sentence is that my shortened name is 'Fax'.

OANST 11-19-2004 07:23 AM

Anthrax may have influenced some bands but it certainly wasn't a good influence.

Statikk HDM 11-19-2004 10:23 AM

And why not? They produced great CDs and were one of the premier metal bands in the 80s and 90s. What's not to like? Christ, like Pearl Jam was a good influence? I like them and all but the grunge scene they were a part of set metal back a good 5 years and all but destroyed hair/arena rock.

OANST 11-19-2004 11:55 AM

And thank god for that.

Fez 11-19-2004 11:59 AM

Radiohead would have been good, someone should have nominated them!

Smell 11-19-2004 12:24 PM

I voted for RHCP. I love the way they play guitar.

The good thing about Pearl Jam, however, was that they weren't a pure "grunge" band (their more recent material is far from), nor areana rockers, and notably resented their public spotlight. Plus, I quite like the whole 90's "grunge" (I hate that word) / Alternative scene. Much better than the random, formulaic crap spewed out nowadays. Linkin Park? Nickleback? Blink 182? It's like a cruel joke.

odd chick 11-19-2004 01:26 PM

Chilli Peppers all the way!!!!! =D They've got such a funky sound mixed with rock-that's cool w/ me!!!

Statikk HDM 11-19-2004 01:34 PM

I know that Pearl Jam isn't a hair or arena rock band, I'm just saying that the grundge/alternative type of music they are associated destroyed it. And yeah, Pearl Jam wasn't that big on the grunge factor, their earlier stuff is definately more up tempo and jammy with really fast choruses and a lot of noodling.

OANST 11-19-2004 01:49 PM

I repeat. And thank god for that!

Esus 11-19-2004 02:18 PM

I like RHCP, Muse and Placebo. Can't remember which one I voted for though.

Mojo 11-21-2004 12:42 PM

RHCP for me (they's in tha lead now!), I like the music, especially Californication, it's the first song I did with my (former) band.

Oddish 11-21-2004 12:48 PM

I voted for Muse. They make Classical mixed with Rock so well.

Xavier 11-21-2004 01:03 PM

Rammstein is the best band of your list for me...
even if it isn't the best rock band in the world :p

Big_Bro_Slig222 11-21-2004 02:12 PM

Rammstein. Engel is the best song I've ever heard.

You and me against the world, Xav. :D

Leto 11-21-2004 11:49 PM

Hoo-rah! Since I voted, Placebo and Muse are tied! Both bands are the best, though. I would vote Muse for their unique sound, and I voted Placebo for their unique/weirdo song topics. (The album title "Sleeping with Ghosts" struck me as weird.)

a flock of seagulls 11-22-2004 06:45 AM

i say rammstein! woohoo for Germans!!!!

Alcar 11-22-2004 10:26 PM

Yay! Garbage is on the list! Naturally, I voted for them :p

What I love about Garbage is their diverse range of musical styles. One minute they're rock, alternative rock, pop, or any other style. They've certainly evolved through the many years they've been around.

Some songs that people might enjoy:
  • Parade
  • Only Happy When It Rains
  • Paranoid

Alcar...

Rincewynd 11-30-2004 10:48 AM

I voted for RHCP, i wanna play the bass like flea (he's one of the best i think :D)

paramiteabe 11-30-2004 01:50 PM

The best rock band in all time would had to have been the Beatles. Unfortunatly they don't exist anymore Paul and Ringo but their music lives on. Nothing will ever compare to the writeings and music and sound of Lennon and Mcartney.
