Welcome Back!
Well ... I guess if you are reading this you have found your way back to Oddworld Forums. After a month of downtime, we are back online. But also our last backup was from mid-September, so we have basically lost 2 months worth of forum time, 1 month of posts.
So you have a lot to catch up on! One thing most of you will notice is that there are no posts listed in the forums other than the sticky threads. This is because most people's default setting is to only view posts from the last 30 days. So to see more posts, you will either need to select the drop down at the bottom of the post list [temporary fix] or go into Options in User CP and select a larger date range. Other than that, most things should be in order. Death's smilies went AWOL, so I have to re-edit those. And I can't seem to locate the buttons from the Honeybee style on my computer, so if anyone has them, please send them to me ... otherwise I'll have to try to recreate them one day. Oddworld-Web and Oddworld Universe aren't online as yet. Alcar will need to fill you in on OWU, but Oddworld-Web is undergoing some changes, but also the new host doesn't seem to like .au.com domain names! Yay! My source of entertainment during college breaks has returned! :)
I thought this place was dead for good until recently, but I'm pleased it's back, and that it survived the downtime in one peice. :) It's good to know that my former 'net home is still alive and well after all that's happened to it, too. Thanks, people. :) - DH |

Hurrah! :fuzgrin: Good to see OWF running again. I was so bored in the last month. This is the first place I visit when I come to the Internet. Without this place, I didn't really know what to do first.

Oddworld Universe is nothing but major change after major change, Alcar. You're not letting the seriously time-pressed manic depressive obsessive compulsive attention defecit selective mutes have sites of the same calibre.
I'd like to say it's great to see the Forums back, but I seriously worry they're going to become a distraction for me. It's not like me to put myself first though, so good for the Forums! |

At the moment, our number one priority is to regain our members, and have normal posting trends continue. Abe Babe devised an email, and it was sent out to 1,607 members (the other 800 or so must have had administration emails disabled). We would appreciate it if people could post, but not spam (though we'll be lenient for a week or so :p).

*hits Alcar with a hammer* I want those missing posts back! But on a more serious note, or past hosts lost/deleted all of our data, so it was lucky that we had a backup that recent at all. I'm also sentimental about stuff like this as Alcar is ... I have emails from many years back on my PC!

I'm also very glad that the forums are back; however, the lost posts angers me. My post count is back down to 12! I had more than 50... :fuzsad:

By the way, how many members know that the forums are back online? It would be a shame if only half knew and we lost loads of old members.

It would be a great shame, but Abe Babe has sent out an email to most members making sure they know we're back and ready to play: provided they read the emails they receive at the address they provided, of course. I'll see if I can add something eye-catching to OddBlog so regulars are aware. You never know, it might reap new members!
I'll just see how my homework goes (it's not been going good so far). |
What happened to the people who joined after SEptember, do they have to rejoin again?

Yes, we have no data from after the 11th of September. It is unfortunate, but this means members who registered after this date, will have to do so again.

Yay the forums are back and well I guess I am back too. Ive been gone for awhile do to moveing out and concentraiting on school. Yep its been quite a few months for me but I am back better than ever with some ideas I have up my sleeves. Just in time for the holidays too and of course another OWF Christmas Tree thread! But before I post it I must go off and hunt for the best looking tree there is. Id say you will see it tomarrow. I hope this year will be better than last now that I am starting this thread early! Oh yeah what happened to my banner hmm? :fuzzle:

Paramiteabe ... your banner will work again when Oddworld-Web comes back online. We're waiting to hear from our host as to why the domain name won't work ... so once that is resolved the the banners that I've made should work again [i.e. yours, Xavier's, etc].

Yeah, when I went to check the rules / spoiler policy page last night, I saw they weren't there. But it was late, I had School in a few hours, and I was dead tired. But thankyou for taking the time to inform us, we do miss these sorts of things every now and then.
