how to get into OI
to all you guy's that've been to OI...
what did you do there? and how did you convince OI to let you in? |
There are only two ways to get in: either you have to be related to an Inhabitant, or you have to save an Inhabitant's life. :D
|
So, who did you save? :)
|
Nobody. I just went. But really- Oddworld has touched me personally. Along with the fact that they're all just darn nice people was good, too.
I HAD THE TIME OF MY LIFE! |
To answer the question of what I did while I was there (I'll give you a brief overview; maybe I'll elaborate if people want me to):
I'll tell you now that I cannot divulge the secrets of oddworld. I had to sign a confidentiality statement that said anything I saw was confidential. In a way, it's a curse because there was SO MUCH there that I learned that I can't tell anybody (except Abe Babe). I still wouldn't tell even if I didn't sign. I saw the movies that are going to be in the game and they were great! I'll spare you some disgust now and tell you to SAVE ALL OF THE FUZZLES THE FIRST TIME!! You don't want to see the bad ending because it was disgusting and VERY disturbing. I also got some personal time to talk to Sherry and to Lorne. That was the best part of my visit. I was even given a personal VIP tour by Mr. Lanning himself. He showed me lots of secret stuff and explained in detail about what they were and how they worked, you could say. And of course I got to play Munch's Oddysee. It was really cool; I played as both Munch and Abe. Gameplay was completely natural- it was very simple to control even with all of the complex stuff you have to do. I took some pictures of the declassified aisles and some clay models of Abe, a Glukkon, a slig, and others. Of course there's more to say, but I'm getting tired of typing. |
Or you just have to be "chosen". :D
Woo hoo!!! Finally, someone I can talk to about the "secrets of Oddworld" (Pilot) ... as he knows all the stuff that I know! It's so hard keeping it all inside... I had to sign a confidentiality statement also. Thus why I have never been able to say too much more than I did. Hey, that's pretty cool that you got your tour by Lorne himself (I'm jealous! j/k), that's impressive! I was shown around by Geri who was then the producer at OWI. Lorne was pretty busy when I was there, but I did get to spend some time with him and he also showed me some of the cinematics. Although I'm sure there was more to see now as the game is further into production. I didn't get to meet Sherry unfortunately, as she wasn't in town at the time I was there. Abe Babe... |
can't i get in without being "chosen"?
(BTW, i'm going to Calafornia l8r this year) |
Usually OWI doesn't let fans in (they usually have to apologize and say no to requests) ... cause if they let everyone in they'd have no time to make the games. It's more of a privilage than anything else.
I'm no expert on it though... Alf would probably be able to clear it up when he drops by here next. Abe Babe... [ September 04, 2001: Message edited by: Abe Babe ] |
thought it might be like that...ahh well...
did you guys take any photos? or did you get a souvieneer? |
Yeah it would be nice to go "inside Oddworld". But, I don't understand Englich so: it's not so much intresting for me. But it should be fantastic.
