scylla
i need information about scylla.
scylla is the mother of all sligs right? can somebodey give me a picture of her? |
*shrugs* No-one really knows a lot about her, to tell the truth. We know she's the current slig queen and that she sells all her children to the Glukkons, but that's about it.
So far as I know, anyway. And sorry, I'd post a picture but there's none of Skillya out at the moment (again so far as I know) - just Maggie- sorry, Margaret - and Sam. Kind of. I think. |
thats all right..
but, ho is maggie? she looks like a queen. (i think) ![]() |
Maggie is the glukkon queen and sam is the mudokon queen
|

Why don't the queens look like the actual creatures and are the queens the same species.
Philip at The slig station http://www.geocities.com/thesligstation/ip.gif |
Wel, naturally a queen is the same species as its children - otherwise it'd be like humans having puppies instead of babies. And that'd just be damned bizarre.
And they don't look hugely like their species for the same reason some insect queens don't - they're basically big egg/child producing machines, and have to be pretty massive to produce enough children in order to perpetuate the species. Blah. It's too early in the morning to be explaining things... |
Glukkons, Mudokons and Sligs species are simmilar to Earth's bees and ants, with huge Queens, and little workers. That's why Maggie and Sam are that big, compared to the average glukkons and mudokons we are used to see.
Quote from a Lorne Lanning exclusive interview to Oddworldian and Oddworld-Web Oddworld characters we've met in Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus have been male, or at least displayed characteristics traditionally seen as male. How will Munch's Oddysee address the gender issue? Oddworld is composed mostly of "super species" races. This means that there are queens that do the reproducing for the entire colony. On Earth, these reproductive types are more commonly found in insects rather than in mammals. Although there are the naked mole rats, which happen to be a personal favorite, but beyond these rare cases the insects are typically the super species that we're familiar with (bees, ants, termites, etc.). Which means that most of the concepts of traditional human male / female relationships have been turned on their head for the purposes of creating a matriarchal based society. Ultimately, the continent of Mudos, where the Quintology takes place, is run by females. We have just not revealed them in our games, yet. Munch's Oddysee will reveal the Mudokon Queen, who's name is Sam. It will also start to reveal Maggie, the Glukkon Queen. As the Quintology unfolds, we will see a lot more females. Some of them heroes, some of them enemies. However, you won't see much of the traditional 'boy meets girl' scenarios in our material. The world is overflowing with these stories, and we want ones with much different twists. Lorne Lanning exclusive Interview at Oddworldian [ October 17, 2001: Message edited by: Lampion ] |
