http://personal.inet.fi/clan/henkka2/maxavatar.jpg Oddworld Stranger is amongst eighteen fully-playable Electronic Arts games currently on display to the public at Game Stars Live, the major consumer exhibition and the U.K.'s only multi-platform gaming event, taking place from 1st - 5th September at the ExCeL Centre in London, according to GamesIndustry.biz.

So... anybody live in London? :D

Oddish 09-02-2004 01:47 AM

Great find Max!

:

Oddworld StrangerTM - Players step into the role of the Stranger, a western-style bounty hunter, who chases outlaws throughout the enthralling new frontier of the Oddworld universe. Set to award-winning visuals, players will be moved by the complex and inspiring story as the Stranger comes to grips with his true nature in the hunt for the ultimate bounty. Oddworld Stranger is scheduled for release in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 console and the Xbox.

So you'll be able to play Stranger, luck us :p And he dose have something with his true nature.

Xavier 09-02-2004 05:35 AM

Common Max, I'm sure you are able to go there and do some great report!
Do it!

Oddish 09-02-2004 05:45 AM

You know, i heard my parents say "... go to london" and my dad "na'h".

There's lots of us that can go there.

Xavier 09-02-2004 05:49 AM

I would have gone their but the trip costs me 120€...
I hope they will do something like that in Belgium, so I will be able to play Stranger and report my impression on the forums

Esus 09-02-2004 07:32 AM

I went to London and spent all my money on Saturday... I won't be able to go again :(

The first time I delve into London in years, is ironically less than a week short of being able to play Stranger.

Alpha 09-02-2004 07:46 AM

i wish

i wish i could go to london but being 13 has its disadvanteges...
anyway answering xavier you probably will get to play stranger as E3 might be on in your area and that has all the new playable games on it!.

Xavier 09-02-2004 08:00 AM

E3 in Europe?
are you kidding?

I always tought it was in America

Alpha 09-02-2004 08:10 AM

No london but sometimes it changes however it might not appear in europe.
but if you despretly want to play stranger before it comes out keep reading these 2 reliable mags:Xbox world:how to notice it? just look and see if it has a free dvd and the more reliable Official Xbox magazine youll know it by its free demo disc keep checking the covers of the official xbox mag and you might see stranger appearing in the playable part of the free disc.Frankly i say EA not focusing on the graphics in Stranger they need more polygons Stranger looks absoulte stubby in a screenshot I have of the game.

Esus 09-02-2004 08:36 AM

Haha. E3 is not ever in London. It is in L.A - U.S.A, and is not coming to Europe any time soon :p

Xavier 09-02-2004 08:50 AM

I think so too Esus...
no E3 for me, unless I go to the USA for it

Software Bug 09-02-2004 09:02 AM

last year or something i tried everything to go to USA for it:D
Bud my Dad just simply replied : NO ;)

Nate 09-02-2004 12:32 PM

You probably wouldn't be able to get in anyway. Its pretty much impossible if you're not in the industry.

Fuzzles! 09-02-2004 12:38 PM

Ah jealous jealous!!!!! I've been hoping to see a playable demo in OXM sometime soon but that seems highly unlikely. I still check every month though. :)

oddguy 09-02-2004 03:54 PM

I hope an event like this comes to California. Anything other than that will result in me wishing I lived somewhere else. :(

a friend of mine had tickets from his uncle...
(didnt know how he gets it.

One, Two, Middlesboogie 09-03-2004 04:45 AM

Ooo, wonder if it'll be playable at the PlayStation Experience (which is like Game Stars but not asshat)?

Alpha 09-03-2004 07:36 AM

yeah.... thats true.

Oddsville 09-03-2004 07:59 AM

I think Nate was reffering to E3 in L.A.

Alpha 09-03-2004 08:05 AM

i meant that it was true that e3 would never be in europe.

Alcar 09-03-2004 03:16 PM

Awwww, it had to be in the UK. Bring it to Australia, damnit! :p

Anyway, it seems like everyone hasn't been able to go, all due to an influx of bad luck. I hope someone can make it. It'd be a shame if no one from the Oddworld Forums could make it, but everyone else fromother gaming sectors could :(

Alcar...

Scrab Watcher 09-04-2004 02:56 AM

AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone on the forums must be able to get there, I mean we have 2 000+ members... Someone get there please, it's only until the 5th!!!! If not I'll cry. You don't want to make me cry, do you? :fuzsad: It's bad enough not getting to play the thing myself. For now I'll have to wait for OXM, they'll probably have a demo sometime or other.

:fuzzle:

Wil 09-04-2004 04:01 AM

I wanted to go, but we're simply not in the financial situation, which sucks presidentially. Sorry all. :(

Alpha 09-04-2004 04:05 AM

maybe i could email my cousin he likes oddworld except he doesn t have inter net so i could only tell the story second hand

Wil 09-04-2004 04:17 AM

Maybe he would be willing to write up a report on what he sees, so it would be first hand. If not, it would still be great if he could relay his opinions to use via you. :)

Alpha 09-04-2004 04:20 AM

yeah. i still wish i could go though. ill send him an email telling him to go

Xavier 09-04-2004 05:23 AM

would be great...
it would be a shame if no oddworld fan could go there
I realy would like to see a fan review of the game

Scrab Watcher 09-04-2004 10:46 AM

Please try and persuade him Alpha, it would be just plain wrong if no Oddworld fan got to play it.

Al the Vykker 09-04-2004 09:50 PM

I wish they would do something like this in Chicago, I could easily drive its only an hour away if traffic permits. But after seeing that trailer recently of Stranger, I must say my interests are sparking again after some down time since there has been no huge new information things on OW recently. So its awesome to finally start seeing some new stuff!

The Gungrave 09-06-2004 12:42 AM

OK folks...the bad news is...THERE WAS NO PLAYABLE DEMO!"!!!!! Yup, ol Lorne had snuck it in for a hit and run with the journos at the start of the week but not the great unwashed (us). A bemused and partially retarded EA Crew member just looked vacantly into my eyes and said in her best Croydon accent "thats not an EA game is it?". I pointed to the 15 foot high poster sitting behind. She turned, looked up at the leering Stranger..."oh! I hadnt noticed that one". I introduced myself as being from Earth and asked if we had ever met before. She didnt think so. Sorry Ladles and Jellyspoons but the carrot is firmly outr of this donkeys reach and Lorne et al ain't bringing it any closer thanks to EA's fat wallet.
A member of Codemasters team had sneaked a peak and he said that he was still scratching his head as to how the PS2 was going to handle this (as well as adding that Stranger appeared finished on the Xbox). HE believes it will be quite severly cutback from the what he described as the "beautifully crafted" version he saw. Shame for the PS2 only fans but I guess at least you will get to play it!
Incidentally Gamestars was a great event and wiped the floor with both the desolate ECTS and the pathetically crassmarket playstation experience, well worth the effort.
