Oddworld Stranger...in June 2005?
 

Hey guys, I was recently at GameStop on Friday to get my pre-order on Fable.

Anyway GameStop had a list off all the releases on the Xbox available, it wasn't on a wall or anything, but printed up like some old computer font. But the release dates were accurate.

I skimed through some of hte highlighted parts, and Oddworld Stranger was highlighted.

It said it would be released around June 2005. I know their isn't an accurate or actually a confirmed release date, but I though OWI or EA said it will be released in Early 2005.

But June 2005 has been one of the many speculations and reports of the next Oddworld game's release date. The only one we can actually rely on, other than Oddworld Inhabitants' own word, is that of EA. And EA has said Spring 2005.

I bet PA will come here and prove his has an other clue to prove he was right with his date.

I looked in one of my mags (Gamesmaster). Nothing new on Stranger, but it did say that it looks brillant.:)

If you go back to his thread, you will find that PA was adamant about June 2004, not '05.

Well yes and no Xavier for one I am not nieve like I was before and two I know what he is talking about because I got the same exact information from GameStop in my area aswell. I hate to ruin this party but what our good friend Daulist found was a speculative date not an official date.

Daulist if you go to GameStop and ask them if this info is official they are going to say its what we know as of now. GameStop thought it was going to be June of this year and of course we know how that ordeal turned out.

Heck they had a place holder box with Stranger and Munch as the illustration on the box. Heck they are calling it MO 2. So Daulist I hate to say it you got information that is not totally false but inaccurate. Don't worry though I was in the same exact boat as you with this. I wouldn't be surprise if when the game does come out it won't be sold in GameStop because they are very inaccurate.

For me I get my games from a local place called the Game Exchange. Its like a pawn shop where you can trade in your games and get money back. Believe it or not people trade game systems, movies, etc etc that are no less than three months old since their release and are still in tip top shape otherwise the Game Exchange wouldn't sell anything. I go to this place and you can buy a PS2, X-Box, or a Game Cube for half of what it is in the main market. Games at this place can run for only $10.00 instead of an expensive $49.99 plus tax which would make it $50.00 or more. generally all the stuff that is sold at the Exchange is eather half or less than half of what it is in the mainstream market. So yeah I figure for the release of Stranger I am going to wait till it comes to the Game Exchange and buy it for cheap. For all I know it will probabally be there within a week after release.

You know this place sells an actual Atari for $20.00 and its in good shape. That is awesome. Mainly when people bring their stuff to this place they test or the store tests it out before they put it on the shelf and sell it for cheap and then give the person money for it. For years I was shoping in the main market for games, systems and movies, but not anymore.

On Gamespot, it says "Q1 2005", but as paramiteabe has pointed out, they may not be so reliable.

June is used for the pre-order list because Q1 is too vague for most stores to tell a customer....its the latest it will arrive. Damn PS2, you're holding us back you fool!

hate to bash the little black sandwich toaster amongst so many owners here, but Lorne really doesnt seem overly sold on the idea of the PS2 conversion either. When asked how well it would compare to the Xbox version he smiled cheekily and said "as good as it can be". If it was an OI decision and not an EA one I think it would have been handled in-house, not by the outside developers like the Gameboy games were. he's a graphics whore like any designer is at heart and he knows his creations are going to lose a little bit of their eye candy magicness on the underpowered Sony piece, hence his withdrawn and undertoned replies in interviews about the conversion
