..:::~~Oddworld FAQ! Please Read!~~:::..
Welcome to General Discussion! In order to help you acclimatise to this forum, please take note of a few points that will help keep the place clean, clear and accessible by all. Firstly, I would recommend familiarising yourself with the rules to limit accidentally breaking them. Warnings will not be given to very new members for minor offences, but we still accept and appreciate your co-operation in keeping the Oddworld Forums a pleasant and good-natured environment for discussion.
After that, I'd appreciate it if you could at least look at the Unofficial Oddworld FAQ in case any questions you might have are already answered there. Failing that, it's always worth using the Forums' search feature, because often your question has been answered before! Asking simple questions that can be answered with short replies (i.e. that is not likely to incite discussion), can go in the Oddworld Questions and Answers thread, which is stuck at the top of the page so you can easily find it. Pointing out places where Oddworld games or merchandise can be bought should be posted in the Buy List, which is also sticky. Starting a new thread when you can add to one of these sticky topics will not be punished, but the posts will be moved to the appropriate place (and the starter of the thread notified). If you follow this advice, we hope you will find integrating into the Forums a smooth and trouble-free process. Enjoy your stay! |
This topic was closed, but I opened it so that you can post any suggestions or ideas to make the FAQ and the Welcome New Members message better, as well as any questions you think are missing from the FAQ or any glitches you encounter with it.
The FAQ was last updated on 2006-02-04 with the questions: 2·1·9 What is Stranger's operation? and why does he want it? 2·1·10 What is the octopus creature at the end of Stranger's Wrath? 2·2·7 Is it possible to get 20 000 Moolah in Stranger's Wrath? and what happens if you do? 3·1 What is the Oddworld-related rank under my name? How do I change this? How do I get more stars? How do I customise my title? |
Speaking of 3.1, how do i change my rank eh? :fuzconf:
|
There was a ranks thread. You rank changes after a number of posts. I think it was:
After 50 After 100 After 150 and so on. I'm not sure about the stars |
I hate to be annoying, but maybe you should put in questions about Khanzumerz, Meetles, Mugs, and Chroniclers. A lot of newbies are probably wondering what they are.
|
A good idea, Patrick. I did once have a question like that, but I removed it becuase I felt the Encyclopædia would answer those questions. I'll reinstate it for the C.Q.A.'s next revision.

Creatures

Whoops, I never did add those back. And I promised to almost a year ago! I can be a bit negligent sometimes, but then work is time‐consuming. Would you like a quick explanation of those creatures, Alex?

I suppose it can't hurt for me to do the honours...
Khanzumerz: name believed to be derived from "consumers", fans assume these to be those inhabitants who the Glukkons market their products to. They are said to be the most valuable animals on Oddworld, so it is assumable the Glukkons would treat them in this way. Nothing is known of physiology or biology otherwise that isn't speculated. Meetles: Meetles were originally planned to appear in Munches Oddysee, cut presumably due to similar reasons as why the queens weren't involved and how a whole lot of other things were cut from MO because of stupid Microsoft's time restraints for the release date. First there were to be grubs. They grew into adults depending on what they were fed: Mudokons fed them plant matter, and they grow into adults with dome shaped shells and were to be ridden. Industrialists fed them meat. They grew into adults with traingle shaped backs and sharp teeth, and attacked, killed and ate Mudokons etc., but otherwise look pretty much identical to the other Meetle type. http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0031.jpg2 Mugs: I can't really remember, sorry. Couldn't find anything >.< They aren't the trianglular backed variety of Meetle, are they? I think they were...there are some visible here: http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=CAMO0021.jpg1 Chroniclers: Chroniclers were to be an accountant or lawyer species of oddworld, having evolved an extra pair of arms to help with, um, uh, accounting (that's 4 arms total). They are fairly lanky and weak, not getting any real excercise. http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0036.jpg2 |
The requested URL /rule.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Heh... I am a newbie, you see... |
WTF? Alcar broke the rules again? Excuse me while I go and castrate him.

:)Mugs, awesomes....00But pretty scary, I'm guessing those mouth claw things slice up mudokons...
|
Not sure where to say this, but has anyone else noticed the tiny Meetle in the opening title of MO? And also the robotic Munch head in the background of the Bad Ending? *you can see it right at the start in the background*
|
Okay, Alcar has fixed the rules and I have fixed the link in Max's post. Let's keep the discussion in this thread to a minimum, please.

In case you didn’t notice, the door to the fort is stuck open. I mean, the F.A.Q. has received an update. The in-universe questions have been completely rewritten, reorganized, and are now fully referenced. Also, the entire article is now hosted properly by the TOE database, hence the design update and abbreviated URI (/toe/FAQ - just like Wikipedia, but better!). :D
As always, comments and suggestions for improvement are always welcome. The out-of-universe section will receive a similar upgrade in the future. |
Great guide thanks for taking all the time in making it :)
