Post you GCSE results here...

GCSE results were given out today. I thought I'd do better than I did, but oh well. My best results were:

English - C
English Lit - B
Religous Studies - B
Science - C

What did everyone else get?

Hobo 08-26-2004 08:13 AM

You only took 4 GCSEs? you lucky thing, I'm taking 11.

Soul Storm 08-26-2004 09:17 AM

I wish I only took 4.

The ones I mentioned were my best grades....my others were far to shameful to post.

SeaRex 08-26-2004 10:30 AM

Wow, you brit folks get a GCSE test on Religious Studies? Lucky. I would so like to take something like that. No sarcasm.

I'm so ignorant of the GCSE. I took the ACT. I'm assuming it's similar.

I got an overall score of 29 on my ACT, which is pretty good, although I was hoping to get in the lower thirties. Oh well. A 29 will get you a pretty OK scholarship.

Heh... a 29 on the ACT is probably like... a "D" or something on the GSCE considering how crappy my school/America's education system is.

One A*, Two A's, Four B's and One C.

I forgot the GCSE results were coming out this week. Well I've been there, done that and bought the T-shirt, so I know what it feels like. Hope everyone got what they wanted and if not try not to be to disappointed.

One word of advice, if you've missed a grade by just a couple of marks it is probably worth getting the paper remarked. (Although be aware that with a remark your grade can go down.) :p

I took A lvls and got -

English Lit - D
Media - C
Film - B

And Religious Education is quite good, it's not all about the Bible though, more about random world/society issues. Though i screwed up on my first exam and got a 'U', but the second time i did it [which was a year later, and i didn't even revise] i got a 'C' so yay!

Soul Storm 08-28-2004 03:11 AM

I was annoyed that I got a D for media, especially when my coursework was mostly B's and in the mocks I got a B....im thinking they've changed the marking system.

And SRE was boring....I revised an hour before the exam and I got a B....I passed the exams I thought I'd failed and failed the ones I thought were easy....confusing....

US have a very different grading system, I thought the states also had gsces.

Science Double Award: A*A*
Maths: A*
Additional Maths: A (technically an FSMQ, not GCSE - there was no A* to achieve here)
English: A
French: A
Geography: A
Religious Studies: A
English Literature: B

I don't know what to make of them. Each one looks fair when i think about how well I did in the exams, but overall I just know I could have done better. *sigh*

Everyone could've done better. If I in the least bit spent time on my graphics, IO could've boosted that up in the click on the fingers. The point is we didn't do matter, and that is literally all that matters. So really, everyone got exactly what they deserved. Even if they missed exams and the like due to uncontrollable events (terrorist attacks, funerals, plague etc)

Tee hee, that reminds me, there was a bomb scare in the Cathedral, so the entire Close was cordoned off. Luckily we weren't affected, but the 6th form history exam was. I believe events like that are taken into account when grading is done.

True, but I went through a massive "I don't care" phase for most of last year, and didn't do any revision. Stupid me. I'm gonna actually work for A levels, though.

Or just not have a teacher that spends the vast majority of lessons reading Harry Potter porn and telling us about medieval torture methods - his favourite was lowering people onto a spike. I'm being serious. Gawd... But well done all the same. :p ;)

In fact well done to everyone. Exams are terrible things, and there's far too much importance placed on them, which only leads to more stress for everyone. So if you survived, you're doing good. *thumbs up*
