Oddworld - a movie by me...
 

As some from you will know i am an 3d artiest and i am creating an oddworld movie.
Just 1 question is this legal???

The movie will be finished in june-july 2005
Its features Abe & Munch and of course the (not-healty) enemy's.

I also have a T-shirt from the movie (atachments)
Look to the right sleefe it says : In Odd We Trust.

That's a big question, Tim. You would be best off emailing fanlegal@oddworld.com and giving them a detailing on what your movie is. I would say that producing it would be no more different than creating fanart or fanfics, but distributing it would be a whole lot different.

I have already, unfortunately, had to decline somebody's request that I host a music video they had made that used footage made by OWI (I did try, but Brinkster wouldn't let me do it anyway). I have another friend who made a trailer for an Oddworld film, and while I haven't seen it, I am assured that it is good. Another bunch of people who haven't seen it are OWI - they are legally unable to watch it.

I fear your project is going to be at the mercy of all kinds of copyrights and trademarks. Email fanlegal@oddworld.com.

First of all, I am a filmmaker my self and have made one blockbuster 'Joe & Gramps', due to the sucsess, the BBC have asked me to make a second one for them, and I have written an oddworld script, and I know that it is perfectly legil as long as you do not sell the film to anybody, or make profit from them. You can show the film to people, but if you would like to sell the film, then you would have to give some of the Profit to Oddworld Inhabitants.

If you would like to enter the film in a competition, then complete permission from Oddworld Inhabitants will be needed.

I know this from my three time award winning film 'Joe & Gramps', as I needed permission to use the puppets, and I had to get permission by the manager of the facility that I was filming in.
Also, as a filmmaker myself, I know that it is not easy to make a film, plus, if permission is not taken from Lorne Lanning to use Oddworld sound effects or voices in a film, then it is illigle to show it to other people.

Also, on the film, credit must go to Oddworld inhabitants, like on 'Joe & Gramps', credit goes to Sunny Puppets as well as Nhoj-Tan Productions (My Film Company) due to them letting me use their puppets, hope this helps, and I am really looking forward to seeing your film

Well I never done such things like movies. But I do have 3Ds Max 5 and I been working with it for 2 years now i can help you out if you want :)

what is the story going to be about? : Ive just made plans and i asked Adder if i can use a bit of his cairin tale ( i wil make a 3D model of cairin for in the movie.

how long will it be? : hmmm dont realy know yet , it will be long!! (of course bechause its oddworld and who dont want to see oddworld whole day!!)

Tim H.C Dont be so excited. Making an Oddworld Movie is not as easy as you think. Ever thought how hard it is to animate characters lips and make them talk the right way? How do you know what you want in the movie? How big do you want the world be? How are you going to do it alone? Where are you going to start off? With what? There are tons of questions you need to anwser before doing it. I can make 3d models and stuff. Meybe even animate. But its very very hard. Think about it. I also made a Jail in 3ds max 5 in a western land. Its not really finished needs polishing i might as well redoit.

Lips?Erf....no such thing in oddworld :D but Tim don't get all happy and excited.Chances are it will take you years and you will get bored....

I understand that were all fans here and we want to make out own Oddworld world its not that easy. We have to work together and it takes a lot of time to do it. By that time Stranger will come out and by that time lots of things will be changed.

What's the story? Sounds cool. I always want to see an OW movie.

I also have 3D's Max version 5 (just got it) and i haven't be began makeing anything. But i love the idea Tim. I'm aslo trying to come up with caracters and story(doing pretty well) And i have realy thought about the charcters and story, and i'm realy enjoying it. I aslo thinking of makeing a movie one day.

If you already practiced making other mini movies, and you can start one. You could try CGtalk.com, There lots stuff there.

Good luck with your movie! but don't get your hopes hight, but your makeng a great start now that your only 13 years old.In the future you'll probalty make some reayt great movie as you get older.

Yeah I have a story, too. This was the story for my second fanfic ( Experiment: Succes), but I didn't finish my first.

i like building 3d things and i have 1 1/2 years done it.
but i can build the "industrial" things of oddworld like i have 3 hats (1 of stranger)
and look at the big bro in the 3d topic from me i can make those things but i have trouble with the body

It's a good idea, as soon as the legal side is cleared up.

Just try to get a quoted copy of the law/contract so that you can make sure there's a loop-hole that allows you to make and allow others to view the movie. If you're going for profit, it does get a lot more complex.

Nice T-Shirt. I'm thinking of selling advertising space on one of mine. Ebay, here I come!

no im not going for profit just put it for free on my website (when my website is finished)

I think u should try doing some internet publicity it be cool to see an oddworld movie associated with this site

erm... are you the only one making the movie? if so then just think what the credits would look like besides speicial thanks i suppose.......

no iw have 27 friend here from school (all 16 & 17) that are helping me and of course some of the forum helps me!:D
