Got a chance to see Stranger at G-Phoria

Yeah, I have G4techTV at my house, and I just saw some Stranger footage.

But don't be alarmed quite yet, becuase there wasn't anything new unless you were the one who couldn't get a glimpse of it from eurogamer.net.

So they showed that trailer of Stranger from that eurogamer.net video on TV, and my gosh it literally looks 10 times better then the feed we got from that bad quality movie.

Its in high res (I dont have HDTV, but it was so crisp) and moved at a gorgeous 60 FPS.

I loved it, and I wish I could get a digital camera plugged in to take some pictures of it.

So then Lorne Lanning was there, and was asked a few questions on the game.

Most of the time the questioner (Victor Lucas) kept shaking his hand (3 times!) and that was mostly the big chunk of it.

But there is one little tidbit that can be pulled from this short Q&A.

Victor asked Lorne if we will see Abe or Munch, and Lorne said a direct "no" and won't be found in the game.

It may be a bummer to some big fans, but seeing how Lorne intended it to be a different part of Oddworld, I think that is great.

But don't worry guys, there wasnt any knew footage of it,just a clearer and faster (60 FPS) of that opening trailer from eurogamer.net. Trust me, the trailer looked super slick and crisp on my tv, and my tv isn't nothing fancy either.

So if you weren't able to see the vid, tune into G4techtv tommorow, and next week as it will be airing.

I recommend not watching the whole awards show, it was pretty awful and filled with MTV rejects and sexual inneudo in it. But watch the after showing called "G-Phoria Insider". It is in the very begginning of it, after that annoying guy (Adam Sessler) is done acting cool.

Alcar 08-06-2004 06:56 PM

Thanks Dualist, although Oddguy posted a transcript of the interview about an hour ago, over at: http://www.oddworld.au.com/home.php?...rt_from=&ucat=

He intends to upload a cool movie of it sometime soon, so keep watching Oddworld-Web.

Alcar...

Dualist 08-06-2004 06:58 PM

Hehe, cool. I didn't catch the first airing today, but rembered about it and then saw it.

I hope he uploads a movie, and maybe the same crisp quality, directly from the cable box.

Did he tape the awards show?

Xavier 08-06-2004 11:50 PM

Thank you for your report Dualist...
I mentionned both reports on Oddblog :p

Can't wait to see the video, but it seems I didn't miss much.

sligster 08-07-2004 08:13 AM

award shows for games usually aren't that good.... remember the VGA's?....... although I would like to see this vid....

The show was horrible. If I had not been looking for Oddworld Stranger, I would've turned it off in the first 10 minutes. That must show you what dedication I have for Oddworld. :p

Funny thing, G-Phoria celebrates the gamer lifestyle...filled with sexual inneudo and rap music. But I firmly believe that Oddworld gamers are just more intelligent than the others. Oddworld games promote thought provoking themes along with great story telling. Even with this new shooter, it's an intelligent shooter with strategy. Not the barbaric KILL KILL KILL aspect. That is what sets up apart from other game fans.

Oh...Adam Sessler. He's funny, in the sense of watching him act like a dork. Now, Morgan Webb...she's cool.

my gamer lifestyle is more like living in a dark room with only the screen on and some metal playing if the game's music isn't good enough for me...

true, there is no KILL KILL KILL aspect in Stranger, you earn more if they are alive :D

dun forget mini-fridge filled to the brim with soft drinks

Oddsville 08-09-2004 09:36 AM

Saddly I had to work that night but Im glad to know now that it was just the same footage as the Eurogamer.net thing, although I would have liked to see in in better quality. As for my gamming lifestyle. I like gathering my friends together then competing in all types of games, savagely beating whoever actually comes out winner...*sighs* such fun.

For anyone that watched the Stranger segment, was the teaser "the good, the bad, and the odd" fed directly through to the television, or was it filmed off of a seperate television; similar to the way the videos of the EA Press Event were filmed?

It was direct feed in all its high-res glory!

Remember fans.... copying videos off of the t.v. and posting them without permission is illegal.

Xavier 08-10-2004 07:41 AM

uhm right AA
do you mean the Eurogamer video, or the one Oddguy is trying to upload?

I guess Oddguy will have to ask the permission to OWI first, and seeing the way AA told that I doubt we will be able to see the G-phoria post show :(

Esus 08-10-2004 08:37 AM

Nobody is copying and reproducing the Eurogamer one, we're just downloading it from the site where it is obviously legal (hence the link to it from oddworld.com). Therefore, one can rightfully assume AA is referring to the one on TV which also happens to be what the discussion he entered is actually about. -- Common sense.

Xavier 08-10-2004 08:55 AM

it isn't on Oddworld.com... you can check

plus we were talking about the eurogamer video...

Esus 08-10-2004 09:23 AM

The Eurpgamer video was there, but they changed it and made a typo by placing
"www.gamespy.com Download Lorne Lanning inteview" By looking on gamespy, you'll find no video, and in fact the gamespy link is directly below again - furthur reinforcing the changed/typo point.

And yes, we was talking about G-Phoria and not Eurogamer, just read the posts above AA's.

Xavier 08-10-2004 09:38 AM

Why do you think they removed it? Probably because EA asked them to remove it, after finding out there was a illegal hidden video, OWI perhaps don't care (that's why they mentioned it), but EA as publisher might.

Plus we were talking about both videos, so it could be both... Oddsville definatly mentioned the eurogamer video

Esus 08-10-2004 09:41 AM

But only Oddsville :p

If they purposely removed it, then why oh why does it still state: "Download Lorne Lanning inteview" next to a link which is identical to the one below it?
Having "Download Lorne Lanning inteview" implies the link would send you to an interview of LL download, and we all know that the Eurogamer one is the only one.

Xavier 08-10-2004 09:55 AM

sorry but GameSpy HAS a video of an interview with LL:
http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/143233.shtml

there is even a transcript on Oddworld universe

Wil 08-10-2004 10:13 AM

IGN also has an interview with Lorne. On top of that, the Eurogamer one was an open Q&A with Lorne Lanning, not an interview.

Oddsville 08-10-2004 10:41 AM

Now I don't have any clue whats going on with this LL interview discussion at the moment but yes I was talking of the Eurogamer video in my earlier post....if that clears anything up..?

Esus 08-10-2004 11:35 AM

I always end up being proven wrong. Many highly witty people call me "Mr. Wrong".
Really gotta work on getting it right... *sigh*
Anyways, my point still stands. The main discussion was about G-Phoria.

Alf's Assistant 08-10-2004 02:37 PM

I was talking about the Gphoria show. Copying the show and then posting a video of the show or any show, cannot be done without their permission.

Make sense?

Alf's Assistant

Oddsville 08-10-2004 02:57 PM

Yes, (at least I do.....I doubt Max dose..saddly) thankyou for clearing it up AA.

Wil 08-11-2004 12:24 AM

What? What do you doubt I do? Ack, all so complicated.

Thanks for clearing up what you could, AA. Oddguy, get permission. Now. ;)

Xavier 08-11-2004 04:50 AM

Ok thanx for clearing up...
Esus I admit you were right about the g-phoria video... :p

I hope oddguy gets the permission

oddguy 08-11-2004 05:31 AM

Wow...this sucks.

I only have an open window to get the video done TODAY. My friend happens to be a teacher, and she is letting me use her Mac with iMovie. I allready set it up.

Grrrrrr.

Well, I'll export the footage to quicktime MOV file and then ask permission before I post it on the web.

-oddguy

Alf's Assistant 08-11-2004 07:13 AM

You'll have to get permission from G4 as it was their show.

oddguy 08-11-2004 07:29 AM

:

Understood.

I went to the G4techTv website and they don't have a "Contact Us" link as far as I can tell.

I'll do some more serious searching later after I'm finished with the video.

Oddsville 08-11-2004 12:01 PM

Well I finally got to see it but all I saw was just "The good, the bad, and the Odd" trailer. Wasn't there also suspposed to be footage of its gameplay?
