Glukkon Theory

Over the two weeks that the forums have been down i've been thinking of a theory that i have developed about Glukkons. We know/think (not sure if its been 100% true whatever) that there are no female glukkons and that they are sexless apart from the queen.

However, together with the theory that phleg may have come from a different queen (and probably brewmaster too if this is the case as the brewmaster is the same colour as Phleg) i've got thinking. A queen has to come from somewhere, and a queen needs to replaced. Im doubtfull that they live forever in Oddworld. This reminds me in a way of the breeding patterns of ant, termites ect. They all have a queen and the workers and drones and other types are all male.

So my theory is, that there ARE female glukkons (there has to be so that they can flourish into queens) but the workers that we see on our games and that we see in ants are simply all male and the females (i.e. Queens) are kept safely hidden and secure so that they can grow into new breeding queens.

Wrong kinda. The only pic of maggie we have seen is kinda red coloured. So we dont know if shes not green.Plus not all glukks turn out the same. And they could be ooooooooooooooooolllllllllllddddddddd gluks from a dead queen

There's no reason why Maggie couldn't have given birth to Phleg and Brewmaster. Phleg may look a lot different, but I'd have just thought that was because he's brutish character, and developed that way. Brewmaster's green complexion is probably down to the time he spends with Brew.

But your theory about 'Princesses' makes sense, and I think it's been applied to Mudokons before. About them, I came up with the idea that these Mud Queens-to-be are kept locked away in towers... so Abe can come along and rescue them. :p But pertaining to such Glukkon females, I'm not sure what their role would be. I can't imagine Maggie would let them have a sector of the Cartel to themselves, although that would introduce some interesting concepts. Equally, I don't think they'd be branded as Albino Slig larvae and exterminated. Ideas?

Xavier 08-05-2004 06:29 AM

Oddish 08-05-2004 06:50 AM

No. That's an old concept of Muluck the glukkon.

Cyber-Slig 08-05-2004 06:52 AM

hmmmzz...still looks female like though...oh well

Oddish 08-05-2004 07:00 AM

A female with a very ugly face. Yeah, Glukkons suits get less "alien" and more human. :p

Cyber-Slig 08-05-2004 07:13 AM

industrialists are humans practically.just in a more ''abnormal'' form.

Wil 08-05-2004 08:39 AM

Oh I beg to differ. They may parody certain sectors of human society, but they're vastly alien races, with independant cultures.

Cyber-Slig 08-05-2004 09:22 AM

Actually yer wrong. They look different.but theyre mostly humans.Glukkons closely resemble real factory owners. There full of lies and greed. They'd rather get £1000000 rather than save somebodys life. And sligs represent guards.Usually poor lowlifes resort to this job.Except for prison and big office building guards.Vykkers dont resemble anything in real life except a crazy surgeon.Slogs represent police dogs.Interns represent teens mostly but without the guns and workin in factories.None other industrialists I can think of.But all of them do have MAJOR differences compared to real life. Not including appearance

Wil 08-05-2004 09:38 AM

I see what you're saying, but I stand by what I said: Industrial characters do represent and parody such sectors of society, but their own cultures and attitudes on Oddworld are their own. By your arguement, Mudokons are merely humans too, as they represent the enslaved Africans and the Malaysian coke bottlers. Elums, too, represent horses or similar beasts of burdon, but it would be a dismissal of OWI's detailed workings to say that these are just Earth creatures that look different.

Cyber-Slig 08-05-2004 09:44 AM

I always thought if oddworld have a message.About corporate evil. And no I dont argue with people Im trying to keep it friendly here ;) yes they represent something in one way or another. But in some ways they are different.Like sligs beat people.A guard couldnt in fear of losing his job.Glukkons torture workers or ''mud slaves'' if they dont do there jobs right.in real life the boss would have a chat and probably fire the worker.Vykkers like to put saws in creatures and torture them even if theres no need for it.But they resemble animal testers.I like animals and here in the UK some people who arent extermists complain about pointless tests they do for fun.The interns are different from teens due to working in factories. But they resemble with drug taking , Singing and what not.
