Stranger's Gameplay Harder than ever!
Well from reading all of these interviews what do you guys think of the gameplay from what we read? I mean think about it everytime we pick up this game and put it in our consols we are going to have a totally different expierence everytime. Live Ammo upgrades that talk and do different jobs in your enviorment, 12 bounties to search for, and now the thing that is in place of in game quarma is Alive, and Dead. I guess if you want a good ending u can't kill your bounties. That is so cool interacting with the inhabitants with live Ammo is so Oddworld. This is indeed going to be one difficult game. I mean there are so many twist to the gameplay that it most definitly surpasses the previous games on a level un heard of. What do you think?
And imagine they intigrate this styal of gameplay with the next games of the Quintology. Now that would be something to see. |
PA, why did you make a whole thread when we have plently of topics to discuss these things already?
|
you are summing up some of the features we know about, yeah this game is going to rock!
it has some very common elements, but they added the twisted oddworld touch to it (eg: gas grenade = "live amo" stunk), I like that very much! I also love the ramming thing you can do as 3rd person :D |
And i hope there will be somethong interesting to do throught the game, i don't want it to be too repetive. I do wounder if you can move when first person. And can your control the boat? probaly not, it would need huge evroments.
|
I think you will be able to move in FPS mode, what would be the point of it if you're not?
the said it was Halo like, well you can move in Halo :p |

|
No, that's just what's great about the Halo controls! they should keep that.
I became used to it after only 30min, and it's realy the best way to control for a FPS |
what other method would they use? when Halo came out, it was the first game to use the double method, then most FPS's that came out after that used the double method because it was so effective. Unless OWI can come up with a method thats just as effective, I see the double.
|
Like in Quake, you had free range movment with one joystick, you didn't need two for MO to move, I don't think Stranger--FPS or not--should have those type of controls.

SligSlinger face it, the Halo controls, as the Unreal, XIII and other FPS on Xbox are the best yet, everybody likes it...
except you how long did you tryied to play it? |
I love the two joystick method of control, it works in both first and third person with me.
I think they work along the same principal, left joystick movies, right joystick moves camera. |

I love that system, it makes perfect sense to me. You use the right-hand stick to turn up and down, so why not left and right? I know it's irritating when you want to turn around at someone sniping your behind. I've no idea what Halo plays like, but in TS2, you can aim with the right-stick, but push the stick further and the crosshairs go to the edge of the screen, and you turn quickly.
But to respond to PA, I think the gameplay is going to be a dream. GamePlay has been simplified immensely, freeing up more buttons, which means there won't be any more overloading of a single 'action' button. The two opposing views sounds as though they complement each other beautifully. I'm betting there will also be vehicles to ride in this game, at points. |
they also made GameSpeak more simple, even if it wasn't very complicated
but now we don't have 3 x 2 buttons for the GameSpeak, only one. I realy wonder what all the moves of Stranger will be :p |
Oh God. Please no. You've all just reminded me of the horrible Halo controls. Like sligslinger, I never developed a good handling of the Halo controls. I hope it isn't exactly the same. Or I'm going to have to spend many more hours on developing a hand.
Alcar... |
Alcar, you and Sligslinger seem to be in the minority:p Though it out, boys.
|
youre not the only one who dislike the halo controls Alcar!!
hope stranger wont have them |
apparently the inhabitants liked the controls of Halo very much, so there are many chances it will be like that...
I'm glad I love those controls :p |
The controls seem good for me.I think you may able to carry 2 croosbows at the same time, other wise how will here fire the bees, mabey it's stored under the cross bow. You don't get a handfull of wasps, and start throwing at enimies, and they think it's rainin wasps.
|
Maybe a beehive. There was one in the opening sequence.

Sorry Alcar and SS. You guys had better play Halo until you get a feel for the awesome control scheme. ;) -oddguy |

EDIT: Woohoo! 600 posts! Four Stars! Vykker Scientist! Way Too Many Exclamation Marks!!! |
I also hate the halo controls -_- I mean I have never got used to the filosophy of switching hand positions in-game that came up with the N64....I think controls should never require that, and when you use the analog sticks so much it just cries out loud switch-position system, since most buttons are thumb buttons, personally I think they should atleast lay off of it until the L-R buttons are well developed enough to completly replace all the thumb buttons, because I've always thought the current L-R button system in all consoles way too clumsy and un-comfortable
|

...... |
The N64 controler design was pure poo, unless you were playing a sort of non real time game. Plus, you HAD to have a freaking rumble pack to balance it. And I've still never had any problems with Halo style controls:-p
|
the fact of blowing out the brains of an 8-ft tall alien kinda forced me to get the Halo controls straight. I got em in about 5 minutes. after about a month, I had mastered the controls, and had blown the brains out of hundreds of 8-ft tall aliens. good times.... good times....

halo comands haters,
What do you suggest as other comands? sorry but the single analogic stick comand sucks, you have to go in the direction of your enemy to kill it, that's lame for discretion |
