Oddworld Theme Park Ride
If you were to have a ride of Oddworld in a theme park, what would you like it to be like?

Well, I'd like it to be like the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas. I'm not a Treky! I swear! :p Well, anyway...that ride makes you feel like you're personally involved in the story, which Lorne is big on...story. If he was able to be in charge of making a ride...it'd be awesome. I can imagine going through caves with primitive cave art...seeing the almighty raisin...looking at tables of vykker experiements...oh yeah, it could be done. However, Oddworld would have to be really popular to make this possible. -oddguy :cool: |

I would love to have a rollar coaster ride through Necrum Mines on like mine cars. Or ride ball cars to different sections of a factory like from AO. Oh here is a fun idea for a ride. The travel wells we see on Oddworld. That can be a fun idea for a ride. Could you imagine straping yourself to a huge sligshot which is attached to the inside of a well and shooting yourself out? There would be a giant air matress a little ways away where you would land. What you would do is lay yourself onto this hydrolic powered giant rubberband placed inside of a man made Well like a cannon. There would be a countdown and suddenly the rubber band is pulled back and released shooting you out just like How Abe got shot out of the big well, shooting you out with you landing on the air matress. That would fun hehe!

Some of it would have to be more of a teenage/adult theme I think. Such as if they went through Vykkers Lab, or RuptureFarms, etc. with meat processing being done. I like the necrum mine car theme, with perhaps sligs above you on balconies. I would think more of this could be done actually though like the Back to the Future Ride in Orlando Florida, with a virtual reality screen in front of you while your inside the ride etc.

aha... well, isn't a safary allowed? trough the oddworld wilderness?
okay, then something like a FeeCo train, passing slowely trough the factories, and let you see the environements, as the dezert and such... the best way to get it down is with a huge screen in a moving room pretending you are realy traveling |
I dont go on rollercoasters much cos last time I have been sick 5 times on them.I would like a simulation ride like back to the future in universal studios

Well, I would have mine like Spider-Man 3D in Orlando, part real, part 3D. This way, when a slig shoots you, fire would strat next to your cart, and a flying slig would come out infront of you using 3D effects.
Another Idea of mine would be a shoot em up, like MIB in Orlando, you would play as a slig, and have to shoot the mudokons. |
that idee of the schooting on mudakons, wil it be a thing like LazerQuest or something??

Well the problem here is that everything of this theme park would have to be completely runned by machines. Afterall Oddworld doesn't exist, it only exist in the imaginary universe of Lorne Lanning's head. It would be a challenge to make the wildlife. But now that I think about it an Oddworld themepark wouldn't be very good. For one it will be like Epcot Center or Dysney World. I am not saying there is anything wrong with Dysney World but the idea has already been done by Dysney. It would be like "seen it been there type of deal. Dysney I can understand but Oddworld I dunno I just don't think it would work. Plus Oddworld isn't that kind of entertainment. People wouldn't get the idea of it, only us the fans would unfortunately.

But when you look at thing on 'The great Movie Ride' and on Jurassic Park, they look real, and it might not all be machinary, it could be done in 3D with screens in the middle of the field.

Thats true too but Universal Studios and Dysney do that already. It would still be the same. Oddworld is a silent achiever so what I am saying is that they would need to find something new to attract the general populous. It would have to be something out of the ordinary for it to work. New is attracting to the crowds and if it was something that was as similar as Dysney or Universal, or Paramount then it would maybe last for a little bit but then the Oddworld Inhabitant's Theme Park would lose its business to the big guys like Dysney, Universal or Paramount. The only way it can work is to build a theme park that is simply very different than any other theme park in the entire world. It has to be odd and very different. The feel of it has to be un earthly. You have to make the consumer be fascinated in this wounderland. They would have to make the consumer feel like he or she is on Oddworld and not some rediculous them park with the theme of Oddworld. I mean literally transform the land in which the theme park will be built into that lush world we call Oddworld. Something like that is possible. Look at the zoo. All that is man made imagine man made canyons, lakes, rivers, streams, deserts, forest, ocieans, jungles, mountains, grasslands, fields, Oddworldian locations such as factories, temples, windmills, etc etc, all built by man in a small man made ecological enviorment sort of like Bio Dome. And then use computer graghics to make illusions to make the crowds go ah when they see a herd of paramites running across grasslands. The smells and sounds it all has to be real to make it convinceing. Like when your watching the computer graghic and say there was a splash, there litterally has to be water splashing onto the crowd.

True. When you look at things like 'A Bugs Life 3D', they have smells. If it were to be a log flume, you could have it part indoor and out door, Safari for the begining and then you go into RF or SSB, and sligs shoot at the boat and the front goes on fire. Or a Slig falling off a shelf and nearly landing on the audience. That gives the fear Factor, like on JP, when the cage nearly drops on your head.

I think a rollercoaster through Rupture Farms and Soulstorm Brewery would be cool. I think that the SpiderMan-esqu thing with the Sligs shooting at you would be cool too.

The 3D Cinama yes but take it to the next level where you have the screen but your really and litterally on a ride like a rollar coaster or something. Add the illusion hence the 3D cinama followed by real life rideing tunnels and stuff then you got something cool. Imagine you enter this place it opens into a huge autitorium. It looks as if you just entered Necrum. Sort of like the movie Truman where he was in this fake indoor world with an ociean. And you can establish that with computer graghics on a large scale.

I would have an Odworld Munch's Oddysee log flume, Start by going through Flouride tanks, then go through a few more levels.
