The Butterfly Effect
Just got the movie on DVD. The directors cut was fuh-reeky! I love movies having to deal with time manipulation......films that make you think.
So, what did you kids think of the movie, and what are some of your interesting theories on time...alternate realities...etc? -oddguy  |
What's The Butterfly Effect?
|
A movie with Ashton Kutcher
|
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289879/
The critics hated the film, but it's worth a look if you're into chaos theory. -oddguy  |
i heard from different kinds of people that the movie was gay and stupid...
I wouldn't know, cause i never seen it before:p |
:
|
My friend said it was a pretty good movie.... but they said daredevil was good.
|
In Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban they reversed time at the end. It's different to Butterfly effect but it made you think all the same.

'Daredevil' was good, it's just a shame they had Ben Affleck jump on the 'comic-to-film' bandwagon hoping he could cash in on Toby Mcguires fame.
I want to see 'Butterfly effect' and so i have planned that i am going to buy it. I love films to do with time etc, one of my future fics is going to delve into the matters of time and paradox's...[/shameless advertising] |
Yup yup I saw it in the theatre, on Valentine's Day. I really really liked it..and made a whole bunch of people go see it, they also liked it.
I really want to see the Director's Cut with the alternate ending and deleted scenes! Ashton is actually decent in it...Amy Smart did a great job too! :) |
It was ok but I didn't like it that much.

I saw this movie when it was in theatres. It was good, but not too good.
|
Pennywise rocks! Don't eat me! :spam:
|
I have been meaning to see this as it looks tres good, but I've never got around to it. Eh.
|
The Butterfly Effect is the best movie ever made, in my opinion. It's my assumption that anyone who says it was bad just didn't understand it, or had some personal bias against... I dunno. Something. Basically what I'm sayin' is, whoever says it sucks has bad taste or is just ignorant. Seriously. If you didn't like it, watch it five more times and take notes. If you haven't seen it, go rent/buy it. Right now. Why are you still here?! GO!!!
|
Okay...out of all the places Evan(Kutcher) travelled, which reality did you like the best?
And, what would you have done had you been in his situation? -oddguy  |

Yeah, ditto Fuzzles. That reality was really working out for the dude, then he had to go and, well, you know what happens. He had it goin' on, then he lost his temper and it all went to hell.
Lordy what I wouldn't give to have a life like that one. :D I mean, come on man! You gave THAT up to beat up on some dude? But I think the ending reality was probably the best. The way it ended was perfect. Such sadness. But such goodness. Best movie ever. |

Dogma. |
*SPOILERS!*
I liked the life when he was happy with his girl...just like you guys. I really wouldn't have killed Tommy. Evan could've just incapacitated him with da pepper spray, without the killing part, and Tommy would've gone back to jail. Grrrrrrr! That was so annoying. But it was showing us how chaos can take over I suppose. -oddguy  |
Dogma is the proverbial shizzney. Anything with Jay and Silent Bob kicks 455. And Affleck isn't that bad, really.
|
Good ol' Jay and Silent Bob. So funny.
Oh, I haven't seen The Butterfly Effect. I heard it was pretty good but I can't really see Kutcher acting seriously. |
:
|
It's funny. You see a clown, and you say"Hah!"( most poeple anyway) But if you know them behind that make up or mask, there very angry, agressive poeple! I know 2 poeple like. And there was one that turned out to be Gay.
|
Somebody, just spill out some spoilers. This sounds like something I'd rather read than watch.
|
I have The Butterfly Effect on DVD, too, and yeah, I have to agree that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. Not THE best, but one of the best none the less. :)
I like the way it plays around with the alternative realities theory. It reminded me of a Red Dwarf episode, 'Dimension Jump'. ACE: You wanted to see me, Bongo? BONGO: Ever hear of a thing called the dimension theory of reality? ACE: Doesn't that run along the lines of, there is an infinite number of parallel universes where every possibility exists? BONGO: It's along those lines, yeah. The basic tenet states that for every decision that's made, the alternative decision is played out in another reality. ACE: So? BONGO: So, the lab boys have come up with a drive that can break the speed of reality. ACE: Those boffins have hammered together a crate that can cross dimensions? When do I launch? BONGO: It's a one-way ticket, Ace. There's no coming back. ACE: I'm free at 1500. BONGO: You do realize, this is a prototype -- there's no way of knowing if it'll even get there. ACE: Where's there, exactly? BONGO: You'll be transported to an alternative reality, a reality where there's another Arnold Rimmer. Some decision was made at some point in your life where he went one way, and you went the other. You might find he's quite different to you. ACE: Sounds like quite a caper. Though TBE is nothing like Red Dwarf whatsoever, the similarities are sort of weird, huh? - DH |
