Who's going to see that movie today, or who has already? I'm going to. it looks so funny. I like scotch scotch scotch scotch!

It looks stupid because;

1. I have no idea what it's about or if it even has a plot
2. Seems to be stupid-humour which is hard to manipulate and they did it wrong
3. I'm sick of movies with laughable plots but completely sour comedy
4. I'm not a comedy guy and this doesn't even look funny

I dunno though.

Anchorman is a stupid movie, I'm surprised Ebert liked it. It's best you don't think about it and enjoy your life.

ok then how about Dodgeball?

Simple pleasures for simple minds, I suppose.

Ferril is pretty much a god at school and is quoted incessantly. So of course I'll have to see it or be a social leper.

Will Ferril was pretty funny on the Conan O'brian show the other night promoting the movie. During the interview he unbuttons his jacket and leans back, revealing a handgun in a holster. Conan asks him about it and Ferril is like "No, it's cool, don't worry about it." Then one of the band's speakers makes some feedback noise and Ferril pulls out the gun and shoots it.(Of course this is all staged) Then the Easter bunny comes in and gets blasted, and he's like,"That was YOUR fault, what's the Easter bunny even doing here, it's July!" Then he points the gun at Conan. XD

I saw that, it was tres funny. Although you killed the funny in your post :p

And although I doubt I will see this (unless my friends drag me into it), I do usually appreciate Will Ferrell's comedy. But this one is just...eh.

I saw Dodgeball, and it was hilarious. You can't say that just because someone watches a movie in which the comedy isn't all entirely witty and high-brow, that that person is any less intelligent or refined than anyone else. Well okay, you can, but it doesn't make it true.

I highly recommend Dodgeball, and I am anxious to see Anchorman. Things mustn't always be "smart" to be funny.

That's true. But you have to take into consideration the risk of making stupid-funny comedies, if you don't do it right then it will be horrible. It's that simple.

You've got a point there SS. I guess there's a somewhat thin line between stupid-funny movies and stupid-trying-to-be-funny movies. But I would definitely place Dodgeball in the former category. Anchorman I can't speak for, but it looks to be somewhat the same way. To me, anyway.
