If you could get any of these games RIGHT NOW, what would you get?

Okay, some really powerful gamer insider has FINISHED copies of Halo 2, Doom 3, Fable, and Half Life 2 for any console that they are available. He will give you one of the games for a system of your choice, no questions asked. Which do you take?

Mojo 07-08-2004 10:21 AM

H to the A to the L to the O to the 2!!!

Halo 2! That is probably the most anticipated game ever!

SeaRex 07-08-2004 10:39 AM

Halo 2, but only because I need a new online FPS fix. I should be playing that one for a while.

Otherwise, Doom 3. Then Half Life 2. Then Fable.

Of course, I'm planning on getting all of them (unless HL2 isn't out on the 'box). Then again, I have to shell out $90 to get my Xbox fixed first...

Majic 07-08-2004 12:31 PM

Aren't X Box's only like $100 now, though? Or are they still $150?

EDIT: Oh yea, the topic at hand. Halo 2. So I can play it massively while summer vacation still lives on.

sligster 07-08-2004 12:34 PM

Halo 2.... no questions asked....

Xbox still sells around 150-170 I think.

Even if I would only have to pay an extra $30 or so after taxes to get a new one, I would still want my old one for all my saved games.

I swear, if I somehow conjure up enough money to get my 'box fixed and it gets back without my saved games, I'm gonna hella pissed. So much progress lost... so many hours wasted. :p

DarkHoodness 07-08-2004 04:33 PM

Half-Life 2 all the way! And who'd want an X-Box version of it? The PC version (like most games) will be much, much better. Trust me on that.

Half Life 2. Physics so realistic that you'll be disappointed in the real world.

Sekto Springs 07-08-2004 08:25 PM

Halo 2 I s'pose. My Xbox is fried (I before E except after C). The colour is all fucked up and whenever I leave it on too long it turns black and makes a weird noise. I'll just trade it in and for another and say....

something.

mabey a repair shop.... they could take the memory and put it into a new xbox..... my friend had that done with his.... he lost a few files, but most of em were still there... (poor guy lost his Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic file)

You'd be quite happy playing by yourself online then, would you?

I would get Halo 2. Then Fable. And the others I don't want.
I hate Half-Life so damn much.

I think HL2 would look better on my Xbox. My PC is crap and my Mac... well, Macs aren't exactly "gamer" systems if you know what I mean...

And Fax, allow me to give you a big whopping "BUH-DUHM-CHHHHHH!"

Esus 07-09-2004 04:25 AM

Halo 2... just.
Very close between Halo 2 and Fable, but Halo 2's been more hyped up, so I'd go for it.

Hobo 07-09-2004 05:00 AM

On a forum for a game series now based on xbox, did you really expect it not to be Halo 2?

Halo 2 for me.

Fez 07-09-2004 05:10 AM

Halo 2.

But I would consider HL2.

Disgruntled Intern 07-09-2004 09:08 AM

Silly bitches, it's all about Fable.

I'd rather play a totally revolutionary game than yet another FPS with a mediocre story line.

Then again, I'm one of the few [and proud] who doesn't give two shits about Halo 2.

I guess I enjoy depth in video games. Running around in "futuristic" levels and shooting a group of aliens that all look the same just doesn't appeal to me.

Killa_47 07-09-2004 10:57 AM

Doom 3 because i have 1 and 2........:)

SeaRex 07-09-2004 11:03 AM

I've got to hand it to Fable. It does look scrum-diddly-umptuous. I hear good things... like aging effects and other such character development and reputation stuffs similar to KOTOR. However, a question still remains: "Will it be better than Morrowind?"

From what I've seen so far, it seems to be a "yes." But you never know...

Fuzzles! 07-09-2004 11:42 AM

Fable. For sure. I still have my original Halo to hold me over until the release date. I just REALLY want Fable. Now.

Disgruntled Intern 07-09-2004 01:07 PM

I've been following Fable since it was first announced under the name of "Project Ego".

Luke, it's going to be fifty times better than morrowind. I have a nine minute video demonstrating the in game of the damned beta version, and it makes me cream my non existant pants every time I watch it.

I was a bit skeptical about the combat being in real time as it didn't work very well in Morrowind....However, the in game footage shows utterly seamless combat with very smoothe transitions between melee and magic attacks. Two thumbs up in that department.

The fact that you can get married and start a family also earns the game a sturdy thumbs up.

You will become muscle bound if you use heavy melee weapons and wear heavy armor, and remain rail thin if you rely more on magic and wear lighter armor. Jesus, that's awesome. You can get tattoos, battle scars, and your body type will change depending on how much exercise you get and what kind of food you consume.

And if you stay out of the sunlight, you will get the ever appealing moon bleached skin. I mean, a downright evil character with a tan just doesn't cut it.

An aura if you're good, horns if you're bad. Also very cool.

And the economics in the game also appeals to me. How cool is the fact that you can buy and/or extort a business as a steady source of income? Jesus, that's neat. I also like the fact that if you wander into a new town and kill the majority of the population then the property values will decrease by about 60 percent. Of course, the town will eventually become repopulated, but still.

Seriously, this game will rock everyone's ass. I'm a morrowind addict, but this game will bring the genre to an all new level.

Al the Glukkon 07-09-2004 02:47 PM

I'd have to say Fable because I already reserved the Halo 2 collector's edition.

SeaRex 07-09-2004 02:51 PM

Ah yes. Sounds awesome.

I heard that if you use magic, your character dies sooner (or maybe ages faster) than if you used weaponry. I hope that isn't true, because I'm hell-bent on making a horrifically pale, fireball-wielding bane of humanity. Having your character die would be nice and realistic and all, but I don't want to pour several hours making a cool character only to have him waste away.

So... any word on character mortality in Fable, Dave?

I sincerely hope Fable includes some sort of "enchantment" system. After all, the ability to make enchanted items was my favorite aspect of Morrowind.

Good ole' Morrowind. I lurved that game. At one point I had like... 80+ hours on one of my characters. Granted, that was before I had a job and a girlfriend... but still.

You said it.

The only one out of the bunch I really want is Fable, cos it's awesome and stuff. I am so excited for this game, and the fact that so many other games will try to copy it, thus bringing the quality of games up.

Customization rocks my socks.

Fading Away 07-09-2004 03:12 PM

I'd get doom 3 or something..i don't know:(

Disgruntled Intern 07-09-2004 03:47 PM

Luke, all I've heard about the negative side of magic use is your character getting the equivilent of radiation sickness.

You know, going bald, teeth falling out.

Then again, that was what they described happening to someone who wasn't proficient in magic.

Kind of like not successfully hitting an opponent every time you try out a new weapon class.

It's all about experience, baby.

Wow, I thought I was the only one here who didn't care for Halo. I agree that Fable will be the best. Great minds think alike, DI. :fuzwink:

Fuzzles! 07-10-2004 07:17 AM

OMG DI, SeaRex, you guys are killing me. I actually got butterflies in my stomach (from anticipation and excitement) over what you guys were posting about Fable.

SeaRex - you need to play some multiplayer RPGs and get your girlfriend addicted as well!!!! :) BG, BG2, D&D Heroes...you can share the love! :)

Disgruntled Intern 07-10-2004 09:28 AM

I had previously completed Morrowind with all of the available 'species'.

However, my all time favorites have always been the Argonians and the Dark Elves...

Anywho, I'm now working on beating the tribunal and blood moon quests with all of my previous characters.

Hobo 07-10-2004 09:32 AM

Woah. From that Fable sounds pretty damn cool.

Finally a game other than Fallout that let's you make damn evil characters and finish the game properly with them.
