more abe's?
I thought the other workers at rupture farms where green and abe was special cuz he is that blue purple color, but in this picture the mudokon workers all seem to be a purpleish color not green can anyone explain?

*scratchs head* got me there...
|
it's probably just the lighting...good point though...
|
but they also seem to have the redish ponytail and yellow eyes, all characteristics of abe, unlike the workers who have a purple ponytail and white eyes!

I don't mean to sound like a prickish-bastard but maybe the reason is it's only a game and we shouldn't get hung up on small details or details that may have been overlooked...

I know but I just thought it was weird because abe being blue is suppose to make him special and just wondered why there were other muds like him!
|
Yeah I also thought Abe looked different from the others but now with these "grayish" Muds in Munch's Oddysee I'm starting to think color doesn't matter much anyway...
As for an interesting bit of info the Japanese consider green more or less to be a shade of blue... |
Ah, it is the Lighting in the scene...the purple lighting sets the mood for the scene.. how do you feel when you look at the image..me kinda depressed, the Mudokons probably feel the same way.... :)
Rupture Farms is not a happy place.. |
OWI probably made Abe blue so you can tell him apart from the other mudokons in the game. If I had to guess I'd say it was probably the lighting.
|
Remember that Mudokons can change the hue of their skin. These Mudokons in this picture are just particularly depressed. Those grey Mudokons probably have bodypaint on to show they are slightly higher on the hierarchical ziggurat of native class.
|
He it could be a good explication, so is Abe non-stop depressed ?
|
Well it's really only during gameplay in which Abe appears blue...in a lot of the movies and most pictures he appears green like the picture of him laying down with a hand on his right knee which is probably the most famous characture of Abe to date.

I came up with a good theory [total rubbish of course] about why Abe was blue and the other workers were green:
I thought maybe colour had something to do with health IE the healthier a mudokon is, the bluer his skin. At the beginning of AO, Abe was Employee of the Year, so was probably treated better than other muds, which is why his sking was blue. When he is strung up, his skin is a more yellowy shade, you'll notice. Also, the Native mudokons in the Monsaic Lines were also blue, because they have a higher standard of living than the Slaves. Also, when mudokons become sick with Brew or Laughing Gas, they turn yellowish. This is all rubbish, but makes perfect sense. |
Hey Rettick, I had the same theory about Mudukon colour... Exept I bassed mine on the fact that birds equal health and when Abe gets birds for the purposs of becoming a Shrykull he gets a blue flashing ring around himself that might indercate super health that he can burn off in one go to become a Shrykull... But hey, as you implied its only a theory. ;)
But back to the question... I think that because the movie at the begining of AO was OWI first moive (and posibly biggest project at that stage) they could only budgit for one or two Mudukons to be moddeled for the CG moives, Abe and/or Bigface. So when they made the beginning moive with the slaves, which probly was made before they thought much about gameplay and the confusion from one coloured Muds, they just used Abes moddel, colour and all... Again, I don't know for sure. |
In the first Abe's game, he changes his skin color a few times, from purple-blue to dark-green to blue again. IN paramonia, Abe is blue, in Scrabania, he has a greener tone...
Anyway, I've always liked to think that the purple-blue skin color has something to do with psychic or spiritual power. Bigface, and most of the free mudokons are purple-blue in Abe's Oddysee. Like Abe, thay show psychic powers when chanting, giving Abe special spiritual rings, or just meditating. If you pay attention, the mudokons who help bigface to rescue Abe from Rupture Farms, in the last movie sequence, are all purple-blue, like Abe. |
