Necrum
I was playing abe's exoddus becase I had not played in a long time. I started looking more at things. Necrum is just creepy. that one pont were you can see a temple and the moon is just creepy. in the music there is this pop that sounds like its coming within necrum. there's that creepy looking tree. its just scary what do you think of necrum.
I think it definitely has a creepy feel to it, what with it being the City of the Dead, heh. But I also think it's a very beautiful and peaceful place, and I would love to visit an environment like that (Fleeches aside). It's just too lush to pass up. I think the atmosphere you described gives it much more character, too.
Well I based my site name on it so I think its cool. I find it the most diverse enviroment. It has tombs, the vaults, statues, a desert, fleeches, secret tubes leading to Slig Barracks, ghosts, the Gaurdian, and lots of other stuff. Its got lots of room for you to use your imagination with.

Necrum has always been one of my favorites. Especially that tree that has that face carved into it. I love that, it makes it so creepy!
I love that tree. It's like 500 feet long. I also love the guardian, but you never see him in the background or anything, only once in the FMV.
What FMV would that be? And what guardian are we talkin about exactly??
it's a bonus video you get in the PS version of AO...
it's a comercial that never made it info: http://www.oddworld.com/universe/ind...ow_shrink.html |

It's below the set of doors that lead into the main temple.
ohh... then the guarding is the thing Abe crushes his balls on when he gets blown out of Necrum mine's.... AAAAAAHHHH!!!! That explains :D
Necrum is my favorite area of the whole Oddworld series. I love the whole look and feel of the place. It's native style that pays tribute to the Mudokons who have passed. I agree with Max, it woud be a place on Oddworld I would like to visit [apart from those damn fleeches].

You know, sppochshrub forest was makeing it's way from necrum. It was going to have Palm trees instead, and you can noctic that the grass is the same as nercums. And a nice sunset of orange sky, and there you have it. A 3D necrum
Where did you hear that? I don't Spooceshrub Forest looks anything like Necrum. Necrum's environment, in one word, would be dead. It has a lifeless appearance in everyway but you get the feeling like you're being watched. I don't get that vibe from Spooceshrub Forest at all, it seems more like a nice rural environment where living mudokons run free.
Speaking of Necrum, Does anybody who plays it get the feeling like they're being watched (as Abe I mean). It's so creepy, it's like you're all alone but you feel like someone else is there. It's amazing how OWI managed to give that feeling even to players. |
well the envroment is the same in a way, in another way it's sightey diffrent, necrum is more lost .Thats why there diffrent places, but they blend in. The pic with Munch when he;s in the intro moive, and those muds walk in the desser and you see palm tree. I think you always see something from last envroment, how how the journey goes.
Can you just imagen Necrum in 3D, i can. A lot of detail has to be put in thou. |
Yes, but the palm tree along the shore is trying to represent somewhat of a tropical feel. When you get into the woods of the FMV and the game itself, you see that the only trees resemble pine and oak, there are no further palm trees throughout the game that I see.

I've never got that feeling before. I just get the feeling of peace, eternal rest. I'll 'look' out for the feeling of being watched next time I play, though.
I love the feeling in Necrum. I think I feel that way because there's absolutley nothing there, it's like even though the place is devoid of all life, it's still feels as if your not alone. I'm repeating myself. I guess I feel that way because there's not much else to feel, there's no music to think about, no real sound (except for the occasional bird call that represents death) so it's freakin' creepy. I hope that one of the Fearitales takes place in Necrum.

It was posted in this topic. You need glasses.
Im talking about the one side with moon and the temple not the tree thing.
I think that if you were in necrum it would definately feel like you were being watched! If not by the reclusive creatures, then by something not so...alive. It is the Mudokon valley of the dead after all.
Ahh updated with pics!! Nice.
Yes I always feel creeped out like I'm being watched..to the point where I sometimes turn to look behind me... :) |
