Off to see the Solstice!

Yeah, I'll be going away from Friday to Tuesday to see the Summer Solstice at Avebury in Wiltshire. I'll be here until then, however. . .

Yeah, I know, me not being here won't make a difference and none of you will miss me, but I thought it's good to let you lot know. :P

Have fun! And take plenty of photos.

Though, from Friday to Tuesday? Is there really a lot to do up there?

Alcar...

Well, walk around and see the sights, have a few drinks down the pub with your friends. . . Stuff like that. And when the celebration starts, it'll be great.

Right, it's now Friday morning, and I'll be leaving in about 5 hours. Gonna be online for the next 3, but incase I'll be too busy to remember later, I'm gonna say bye now. :)
Alright then, seeya! I'm sure it'll be boring for me, but what the hey, I've got some entertainment just in case.

*comes back from the Summer Solstice celebrations looking rather rugged and tired* Meh. . . I'm back. Parts of my weekend holiday was good, but. . . Why was it so wet yesterday and freezing cold last night? Why was there ice on my tent when it was meant to be summer? And why were the police so arsey about people staying in the Avebury Henge carpark beyond 2:30pm today (part of the reason I've come back early)?
Oh well, the atmosphere was really good. Surrounded by drugged up and drunk hippies in the middle of a field surrounded by mystical stones on a frozen, misty, yet clear night, dancing to people drumming while watching fire breathers and fire jugglers was really cool. :)
I'll show you some pics later and describe what happened a bit better some other time, but I'm sorta knackered right now. . . See you around the forums. :)

Its great that they actually allowed peops to get that all important 100 yards closer to the henge... I mean they've stood for thousands of years... I'm sure a few people breathing around them ain't gonna hurt them that much!!!!!

Depends. The kind of food people eat could produce highly acidic breath. Besides, it'll all be burried under ice soon enough.

Great to see you... back, DH. Once again I missed the leaving; but I'm here to welcome you back!

Bear in mind that there's a difference between Stone Henge and Avebury Henge. One is older then the other, and they're 60 miles apart.
Stone Henge dates back from 2500BC, while Avebury Stone Circle dates back to 2800BC. Both were built by the ancient Britons.
Anyway I would show you some of the best images from this year's Summer Solstice at Avebury, but they're not shared up on the network yet. . . Maybe tommorrow or something.
