Abe's voice through the series
I've always wondered this, but I've never been able to find an answer; why did Abe's voice change? I really, really loved the way it sounded in Abe's Oddysee, but absolutely abhorred the new sound of it in Exxodus. And while I've sort of accepted it in Munch's Oddysee, I'm still curious as to why Lorne changed it. I miss his original voice.

wow A-Sauce, but so far your TWO posts sure haven't made a good first impression..not with me anyway...
jeeze, there was no need to 'yell' at him A-Sauce... |
Abe wouldn't need to go through puberty unless he were a reproductive male which would explain the colour differentiation.

Abe's voice changed in Abe's Exoddus because of the ammount of information being squeezed onto those CDs. Sound files had to be squashed and later unsquashed, and a low tone was produced.
I haven't heard Abe's voice in MO, but Lorne promised he would try to get an 'in-between AO and AE' feel. |
It really does just sound like AE. I don't think that there was much of an "in between" feel to it.

Uhhhmmmmm.............puberty doesn't just involve sexual status you know...(voice changing, growing, ect.)

but... Abe's voice change in the game (AE)
so in MO is it the happy voice or the sad voice ? |
In AO he sounds cool. In AE he sounds like some Mudokon with a cold and stuffy nose. In MO -I don't know.....

abe has 3 voices in AE 1 neutral (begin of game) 2 happy (if you save the muds) 3 sad (if you kill the muds) BTW if you didn't heard Abe's voice click here (it's the MO version) |
The MO version didn't sound like so much of a change from AE to me. But I probably have to listen to them all again and again to hear anything different.

well, if want to compare, then I would suggest you base your comparisons on the way the voices changed on the Simpsons from the first season onwards. The voices there were way different than the later seasons, especially Homer's, probably because they were not used to it. Lorne sounds more comfortable with doing Abe's voice in AE. He also sounds more comfortable doing the Glukk's voices as well as the sligs. This is good since there is much more dialog in AE. (I am of course talking about the FMVs) I don't know about MO (I am soon to get an X-Box at least by March) and I think there would be a larger cast of voices than just lorne and a few others. IN AO, Lorne did all the voices, which is remarkable when you think of it. But then again, only Abe talked, as well as the sligs, while Mullock and the Glukks were more grumbled that clearly spoken.

To me, Abe's voice sounded neutral. It's hard to tell as he says things like "Kick some booty!" in a happy voice, and "I'll be back... don't cha worry." in a reassuring, calming voice.
